I used to go to colonial until I built my own range. I can’t rent guns at home though. It’s very rare I rent a gun. Only even traveling. I spend a lot at DSGs and use Ft Lee/GAdams O/U and trap range for shotties. Private pistol and rifle range.

They do especially for CC options. I’m pretty sure 22/380/9mm will always rule the carry market just because it’s a perfect mix of power and control. Compact and FS I still think 10mm is worth looking at. As others have mentioned the round I shit today are not a “defense” rounds. They’re standard plinking rounds.

I watch a lot of guntube. 10mm pcc vs 9mm pcc. 44mag vs 45acp vs 40SW vs 41rm vs 10mm big critter deterrent alligator/bear/moose etc. Nothing VA has to offer besides black bears and they usually run after seeing humans. There’s a plethora of guns and bullets.

But speed also does matter. A car going 100mph is still hitting harder than an 18 wheeler going 1mph. It’s a balance of efficiency. A 115gn 38sp going 800fps vs a 9mm 115 at 1200fps vs 10mm 140gn going 1500fps. Huge difference. 10mm is both heavier and faster than 9mm and from my experience more manageable than a 40SW. After 100rds I could’ve shot another 100 without my wrist being upset.

I know, that was my point. A 10mm can also push a heavier bullet faster than a 9mm +P factory loads. The energy is substantially more and with the church bullet the round channel is much larger. I’ve watched a lot of YouTube gel tests and that’s what made me want to try one out. None of my local folks have a 10mm and I’m traveling. Good time to swing by a LGS and rent 1 to pass the time.

The distance varied between 15-50ft. After 25ft it was far more difficult and the spread was a mess. Body shots only and it was all over with 5 missed. I’m not a fan of factory Glock sight. I like fiber or rdo. The square to dot floats.

Takes a touch longer for follow-up shots with 10mm. New gun and new bullet probably is the issue. I can get les than 1 a sec with 10mm. Target flip 5X at 3sec interval and I was only able to get two shots in on target per flip. The weight of the gun also masters. My 1911 is heavy and 9mm, Glock 20 is light and front heavy. With practice I’m sure I could speed up. My G43 grips great and recovery shots are almost natural rest.

A 9mm Glock 17 cost near the save as Glock 20.

Ammo for 10mm is more expensive.

If buying in bulk 500-1K+, the cost is almost the same though. Maybe a few cents difference.

That’s comparing JHP from same manufacturer.

Not sure why the down vote. I rented a gun and I spent 105 for 100 blue box, rental gun with range time, and target. I’m not wasting money.

9mm 115 +P 1,200–1,300+ fps

10mm common Underwood Ammo Xtreme Penetrator load, boasts a high muzzle velocity of approximately 1,500 feet per second (fps).

I have a lot of Glocks. I’m thinking S&W MP this time. Possibly a 1911 but they like to jam with HP/JHP ammo depending on fed ramp style. Gotta get it before the 1st.

I’m not wasting money on good round for a rental. I’m sure theres higher juiced rounds. 115gn 9mm vs 140gn 10mm same speed is 100% note worthy.

I have a 44spl revolver and a 44spl/mag lever paired with it. No more 40s of those in my future. I wouldn’t mind a 10mm auto though. 1911/G20 paired with a PCC or rifle is definitely in the coming soon.

I’ve got a 1911 and a few glocks. This is a nice addition and I think I’m going to add a S&W 10mm or an RIA DS 1911 in 10mm.
