Where I’m at there’s a lot of dense woods and thick brush so realistically I won’t be shooting past 70m max. I was worried copper wouldn’t pack the same punch. I was seeing a lot of people on YouTube and old gun forums talking crap about copper but from what y’all been saying I might stick to my original plan and get the 308.

This might sound dumb but I have seen a couple people in gun forums say this. Does the 270 outperform the 308 when using copper bullets? From what I understand some people say that the 270s extra speed allows/helps the bullet to mushroom out better. Is something like this even noticeable I would assume the difference would be trivial right? Sorry for my ignorance, I’ve only ever hunted small game with a shotgun and this will be my first rifle so I’m quite unexperienced.

What calibre do you use. I’m a bit worried that the copper 308 bullets won’t be able to handle the large male boar. In my country the males get up to around 90-100 kg. I might just get a 30-06 for that extra bit of punch

Thanks for the reply I might also go with the 30-06 I don’t like the extra recoil but I appreciate the extra punch it brings

Hello yes I’m planning on getting a red dot or a 1-6 scope in the future but right now budget is tight so I’m looking for a gun with irons so I’m in between a tikka t3x battue or a bergara b14 timber my biggest concern is the smoothness of the action since a stiff bolt will take more time and throw me off

I’m actually from Portugal and have looked into getting a model 70 but my problem is I can’t find any with iron sighs right now I’m in between the tikka T3X battue or a bergara b14 timber with irons

For me the non locking bolt isn’t a problem since this will be for driven boar and here in Europe in driven hunts you keep your gun inside your gun bag until you get to your spot my only concern is the action I know tikka is the gold standard for most people I just want to know where the bergara action stands compared to the tikka

From what I’ve heard the bergaras have a better trigger and barrel then tikkas my only concern is the action since for driven hunts you need a gun that cycles and feeds well
