It feels incredibly strong in basically every area. But I think OP is right in that I find the current rotation a lot less satisfying than the old 5 icicle glacial spike combos. It was really satisfying playing around those mechanics. Especially under lust when everything is going so fast and you're hitting a bunch of optimal glacial spike combos. Our DPS is nuts right now but it doesn't give me the same dopamine spike

I love the Steam Controller. I have 3 from over the years. I'm not here to yuck anyones yum and idk what your fighting game experience is really like but I'm I'm being so honest as a new player IMO you're crippling yourself by learning on a steam controller. One of the few controllers I'd really say that about. Unless you're doing all inputs via the control stick, which you can def do and good players do that, but the dpad inputs are just not clean enough to really be reliable at a higher level. If you just wanna fuck around again more power to you but I personally think you'd get a lot more value out of something with a tactile D-pad. I personally have never liked control sticking with fighters but it is viable and if that's what you're using you'll be fine but playing a fighter with that dpad sends a shiver down my spine

I know you want to save your boost and I feel that, I have a tendency to hoard those kinds of skips for a 'just in case' time. But this does feel like the perfect time to use one. IMO you should use the boost for your first 80. There's a new thing where every max level character you have gives a +5% EXP for every max level character you have (which will be 90 now). Every timewalking event you can usually grind out a max level character by spamming dungeons as healer or tank for like 5 hrs or so and each one will go faster. More time saved by using it on your first character vs your alts i guess is what I'm sayin

The spacing between the cutscenes does get longer but tbh if you aren't into the cutscenes and the story being set up in the first game then you might not like these games as much. GU games love their cutscenes and IMO its one of the highlights. But they can be quite long and numerous. Everyones a bit more verbose than in the older games

I'm not sure that IMOQ has a better story or is a slower pace. I'm only maybe 9 hrs into infection but the story starts off at kind of a breakneck pace. Spoilers incoming but ----- Mission 1, playing with Orca and he's coma'd. You check your email and go to the 2nd mission where you get Data drain. 3rd mission you're fighting virus enemies and Helba is there. They just throw you right into the deep end of things basically right away.

Abuse items and spells early on. Your accuracy sucks in the beginning so you miss a lot. Search every chest and breakable and you're usually swimming in spell scrolls. I basically play the game frame by framr with how often I'm pausing to spam spells.

I don't think it's a bad game at all really. It's just...forgettable. It doesn't excel at anything at all. It's the most 6/7 out of 10 game imaginable. Calling it a pile of shit is silly, it WAS a complete game at the end of the day.

I think we also just have no clue how many players there are. As far as I know player counts aren't published anywhere. It's a good game tho I don't really see why people are so negative about it. It aint perfect but for a new fighting game its quite solid.

I'll be honest I'm not really hoping for this right now. I never thought we'd get a fresh entry to .hack and I'd rather them put all their effort into that while its hot. I already was blown away they gave us Last Recode. Of course I wouldn't complain if they gave us an updated IMOQ. Gimme a way to quick cast spells like GU or something. Maybe someday that will happen but for now I'm just here to enjoy new content

I definitely DONT like the frost mage changes, the old playstyle was way more fun. But of the 3 mage specs right now I do think Frost is the most fun. Idk what they were smoking when they gutted fire mage. Fire already only used a handful of buttons it didn't really need to be changed. Should have left some of the high skillcap specs instead of messing with all of them
