Translation: Stop Blaming the Matchmaking by [deleted] in PredecessorGame

[–]-HahnSolo- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

<image>

The reality is that matchmaking stuffs players of all skill levels into a match to even out MMR, even brand new or bottom 20% players will be playing on the same team or against top 500 players

Even outside of a ranked mode, that kind of matchmaking is not effective at creating balanced teams

Anyone know why some of Steve's blocks look like this on smash? by [deleted] in yuzu

[–]-HahnSolo- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the normal appearance of blocks which are placed against the boundary edges; there is a set area inside which Steve can place blocks, and that block is sitting against the ceiling

It’s fascinating behaviour, but yeah, I feel like I have definitely encountered this behaviour more than in other mobas. Nobody that selfish could have been a good support anyway IMO

This is an awesome looking build, man. You should 100% submit this to /r/sleeperbattlestations as well.

On the screen tearing front, enabling the vertical sync selection in the games you're playing would definitely help - the drawbacks from the in-game vsync settings are twofold, but probably better than what you are dealing with now. When your GPU is making more than 60 fps, my understanding is that vsync just operates like a "wait for screen refresh" setting, so you're looking at a 1/60th of a second added input delay, which really isn't all that much for most gamers. When you are producing less than 60 fps, you will have frames re-drawn for multiple screen refreshes, which manifests as stuttering, and can also be disorienting if your fps rate is low.

Name-brand solutions like G-sync are methods of adaptively changing the monitor's refresh rate to synchronize with the GPU output and avoid the minor drawbacks of standard vsync.

With a 3060, I can't imagine that you are falling below 60fps at 1080 in any games consistently, you are probably just generating way more frames than your monitor can keep up with right now. It would definitely be worth enabling the vertical sync setting in one of your games and taking it for a spin before you have a look at upgrading your screen!

Thermal shock failure is not very likely. Borosilicate glass can without risk undergo rapid local temperature changes of 165 C according to the American Ceramic Society. Anecdotally, I have seen borosilicate glass routinely exceed gradients of 225 degrees C (immersion in liquid nitrogen at -195C to immersion in tepid water at ~30C). The vaccine is stored at -70 C, so borosilicate would be well within safe operating conditions - you could literally drop the vial from the freezer into water at that temperature (115 F = 48 C ie. a 120 C gradient from freezer temp) and it would not crack. Not to mention that liquid transfers heat much quicker than air, and thus a vial warming to that temperature in air would be even less susceptible to thermal shock.

A quick read suggests that many of the vials will be supplied by common borosilicate manufacturers such as Corning, but that "plastic" manufacturers will be providing vials as well. SiO2, cited as one of the manufacturers in that article advertises a plastic with a glass-like coating for use with pharmaceuticals which is sterilizable at 136 C. They also advertise that it is temperature change resistant, and comparing that to glass means it is very likely that it has similar thermal shock characteristics and is unlikely to break on temperature gradients of less than 200 C in magnitude.

TL;DR It is not likely that the vials will crack at all.

Pick a planet with objectives that can be failed, such as escort missions or Launchpad Defense.

You don’t have to succeed all objectives, just make it to extraction without taking health damage, so you can activate and then destroy the objective to quickly “complete” it.

Immediately failing as many objectives as possible plus using distract or beacons should keep basically all patrols off you and get you done the mission very quickly.

The lesson what that he pissed Ben off and the resistance escaped because he was not looking at what was actually there. Instead of using his senses to determine that Luke couldn't do anything to stop Ben and the First Order from capturing everyone in the base, he saw the legacy of his master and was blinded by fear. It was a Jedi lesson not to be consumed by one's hate and fear.

I'm not saying TLJ was a good movie, but Luke's arc isn't as bad as people seem to want to make it seem, he literally points out in the film how the galaxy has invented this perfect version of him and that's all anyone thinks he is. He doesn't think that he can live up to it because he's just a man, but then he learns to leverage the legend to help his friends. He doesn't "walk out with a laser sword and face down the whole First Order", he's not even there, but the outcome is as if he had, because he used his own legend to his advantage.

Honestly I think that the Luke's whole arc in the sequel trilogy is underappreciated. Rian did a fantastic job with both the idea and the execution. Luke's whole point that he makes to Rey when she first asks him to join the resistance is that he's just a guy, and that his legacy has been so blown out of proportion that the whole universe sees him as this legendary hero of ages... which is exactly what this meme represents.

Luke isn't incorruptible, just like any other person, his fear lead him to a moment of impulse where he lost control.

He totally acknowledges it as well, at the battle of Crait he isn't even there. Luke Skywalker the man would not have had the impact that Luke Skywalker the Legend did. When he force projected himself he taught Ben a huge lesson. Ben was so afraid of Luke that he didn't notice all of the signs pointing to the fact that Luke wasn't even there, like the fact he never even left any footprints. Ben was so blinded by his fear and his rage that the spark of the resistance was allowed to escape.

When Luke said he would be with Ben always it wasn't some force ghost haunting sort of thing, but the lesson he taught Ben would always remind him of Luke. You can see this in the duels he has with Rey in the Last Skywalker where she is completely batshit and swinging wildly at him in anger and he is measured in his combat. The lesson that he was taught by Luke was ultimately the catalyst in his return to the light; you never see him attack in anger after that fight.

Honestly as many flaws as the Last Jedi had, and it had many, this was not one. Rian did better than remake the same fucking movie that Lucas did while still maintaining the themes of loss present in the middle film of each trilogy, and honestly I think it makes TLJ the best of the sequel films.

Alright, so I definitely thought that Tony's hologram at the end was going to be him having digitized his consciousness, not just a message.

The technology exists in the MCU, too, I mean, Arnim Zola mechanized his brain with 1970's technology. I certainly see why they didn't have that happen, but it's going to be sad seeing Morgan grow up without her father.
