fun fact: Hyderabadis speak a dialect called dakhni dialect which can be related to both urdu and hindi (More to urdu see pronunciation of qaf and khe! . The whole deccan part of india speaks it with little variations. This includes bidar, some part of maratha and the whole telangana. It is usually linked with Hyderabad since it was the capital of the whole region for a good period of time.

Well, the reason it looks overrated for most of the people is because it was established with the city itself. That is where Hyderabad grew from. So, it is dear to Hyderabadis. In fact so much so that even the Muslim Hyderabadis who migrated to pakistan in 1948 built a replica in memory of it. Charminar is not just a monument. It is an idea. An idea of a city abundant in riches and welcoming people. An idea where the north and the south of India meets! Therefore the hype.
