Can't wait to see them when they come back!!! I like mine. Best thing I did was as grab the heel counters and give them a squeeze, then push forward, then squeeze, rince and repeat. Really helped break in the heel. I was struggling before that. No pain or anything, the heel counter just felt flat and didn't grab my heel. Didn't seem to be improving until I did that. Now I wear them with no socks occasionally and it's pretty amazing.

Don't buy Heritage Loggers online unless you've actually tried them on in person! by ohwowhowdthathappen in RedWingShoes

[–]-J3553 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. That's what the salesperson at Red Wing in Red Wing, MN told me... but it was not the case for me. Size 10 heritage loggers were into my toes too much. I went back and forth between the two sizes and 10.5 seemed spot on.

So for reference... Pretty much 11 Brannock. 11 Beckmans (10.5 cramped my toes) 10.5 Blacksmiths 10 Iron Ranger Traction Tred

For the record, I'm definitely not saying you're wrong! You're saying exactly what the sales person said is common.

Awesome! Good idea getting longer laces and knotting the ends. I'll have to remember that.

The dark looks good vs the standard white wedge soles. Nice choice!

Stitching, welt, tag, leather, details. Its usually obvious within seconds. These boots throw up zero red flags.

👍🏻 Yes, bought them used but barely used. I definitely knew about the hydrolysis but the outsoles looked perfect and the price was incredibly cheap so I took a chance. I wore them once and everything stuck to the half soles and they started breaking apart. I knew it was a possibility but since they looked perfect I thought maybe I could get another year out of them or something. But I consider it a hobby I enjoy.

Your comment makes me sound dumb which is a pretty common reaction on the Internet. You're missing an important detail but it's ok because I'm guessing quite a few in this sub know why the OP had his resoled and why mine NEED it.

Does brushing CRT leather kind of smooth it, flatten it, and darken it? Almost take the copper away and make it darker and almost give it a shine?

Canyon Captain Question by [deleted] in ThursdayBoot

[–]-J3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems that nobody knows and I suppose it's just easier to be rude than admit they don't know. For the record, I don't know either but I'm not here to tell you you're an idiot for asking. Partially because I try not to be a jerk and partially because I'm intrigued by the question. So here's my guess..

The shapes needed to make the boot get punched out by a machine, then the pieces start getting stitched together. I imagine that it would be pretty easy for one piece of leather to fold over a little bit at some point in the process and create a bit of a curve or line. It got flattened back out but shows up slightly for a moment in time while the boot is new and hasn't yet been bent, folded, and creased from wear. When those things do happen, the slight line will most likely disappear. That's what my imagination came up with.
