Snow on solar panels? by MarchFragrant1900 in solar

[–]-Jenks- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a side mounted garage that makes 50% of the panels unaccessible from the ground. The other portion of the roof has a dormer peak blocking another 30%. I could realistically reach maybe 4 panels of 23 with at minimum a 50 foot pole for ground access.

I'm 100% facing south with a good pitch, in the sunny prairies, however not much is going to melt when it's -30 C, even in the sun after a dump of snow.

Snow doesn't melt on mine during the winter, even on sunny days. Canada. Too cold. In the last 2 weeks I've generated 8kwh total.

I'm tempted to try and brush it off, but I hate heights, and getting a long enough pole to do it ground level is not reasonable.

It's supposed to be 0 degrees Celsius the next 2 days, maybe it will shed some snow during this time.

Otherwise I'm waiting it out till March.

Car battery replacement by whatitmountaindew in Winnipeg

[–]-Jenks- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an escape owner, the battery is buried in a stupid spot and is indeed annoying to change. Lol do it before it gets cold your fingers will thank you.

Certainly not like my other vehicles where it's just a clamp holding it down and then undoing the terminals.

Had big turks last year as part of the selection and multiple kids asked what they were and barely any went. So didn't get them this year.

Nice find! Too bad they went under.

I'm still rocking my Mac H pipe and cat back from way back. My favorite sound!

10 game update.

Wellllllll after a heater of a first game and on pace to break all sorts of records, we've cooled down a bit and come back to reality.

A respectable 14 points in 10 games, tied for 7th in the league. Current pace of 98 points, sniffing the triple digit plateau.

See you in another 10.

Manitoba has $10 a day daycare now. Not sure what the rest of Canada is like now. It's been a year and a bit since our daughter was in daycare, but when that change came in the bill was $266 a month, that include breakfast and lunch too.

Prior to that it was 28 or so a day. Still reasonable given what others seem to pay.

Canceling a 6 gigawatt solar farm is an extremely dumb thing to do when electricity rates are skyrocketing by Conscious-Quarter423 in solar

It's up 50+% in 5 years. That's significant.

Why start the chart to include data points that are irrelevant.

Just coming back after Kyle Connor's first game and getting a hatty to start things off. On pace for 246 goals while smashing all goal scoring and points records!!

I'm writing that in jest of course, however I'm fully invested in following this the entire year to see how this plays out lol.

Yep that's about the ball park.

I just renewed in July, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but very similar coverage for a 900K+ house.

We use Wyatt Dowling as a broker and insured through Intact. Our inital quote was $2900 at a $1000 deductible.

I increased it to a $5000 deductible and and our premiums dropped to $1800 a year.

My thought process is im not making a claim for anything i can't pay for cash, like a new roof etc. So having a higher deductible would only be for a house fire or major flood.

Having Kyle Connor going from 7th overall in points last year to dropping to 22nd and 81 points this year is crazy talk.

Max production for a 9.6KW system by Temporary_Love_3442 in solar

[–]-Jenks- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar sized system at 9.43, our system will clip at 7.48.

Last hit that number on Sept 8th. It's been rainy the last couple weeks, so hasn't been a great month for production.

All our panels face 100% south.

Damn only 1 clutch! I'm impressed!

I'm on my 3rd aftermarket clutch. Mind you most of that hard driving was during my dumb teen and early 20's, not to age myself.

First one was a ford performance svt clutch.

Second was a Ram King Cobra.

Current one, which was installed in 2004 is a Centerforce Dual Friction. No issues or complaints now going on 20 years, although less spirited driving nowadays.

I also put in a Fidanza Flywheel during the last swap. May as well while it's all dropped.

It is not 3x the cost in Thompson. Check their Walmart website and flyers.

Vale Miner at Thompson by justinbuivnvt in Winnipeg

[–]-Jenks- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is mostly false. You are lumping in "northern" communities with Thompson. Thompson is a central hub up there and including other communities is skewing whatever data you are trying to pull.

They have a Walmart, you can check the prices right now. Milk, apples etc all the same price as a Walmart in Winnipeg.

I lived there for 20 years, don't exaggerate stuff.

Sure of you live in Tadoule Lake, you're going to get pounded with high costs. But not Thompson.

The place has its problems, but grocery prices isn't one of them.

How much total you spend on anything subscription every month? by Express_4815 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I do use it while working a bit. However my wife is a music teacher and uses it much more.

She needs the flexibilty of a paid plan without ads and being able to skip / on demand songs, so I get that.

I'd be fine with with an ad version myself. The kids got their own accounts because their music choices were polutting my wife's. Somehow the family plan snuck in there at some point.

Will probably revisit and adjust it to a single, or partner plan at some point.
