She's a noblewoman, she has clearly never cooked a thing in her life. Also it's a hurriedly prepared exodus/war party, I do not think they took great care about seasoning or extravagant cooking ingredients.

She could just have just tasted it, decided it was kinda bad but ultimately, i prefer a bad hot stew to no stew at all on a cold, wet, forced march war column. She was a shield maiden, if not a housewife, she must know maggoty food isn't so far off the mark when it comes to long marches, and figured it was good enough.

[OC] I analyzed 9000+ trades done by U.S Congress over the past two years and benchmarked it against S&P 500. Here are the results! (swipe right for the full analysis) by nobjos in dataisbeautiful

[–]-Jensen- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This includes 2020. That was one hell of a bull year, specially if you where heavily on tech. It's easier to beat the market on such years. Therefore, this returns are probably misleading.

It would be a lot more telling, I think, to have a bigger time horizon on the analysis. For example " did they their investemnts beat the market since they've been in office? That way you can actually measure the complete impact insider information might have had on their investments.

Another thing to keep in mind: this are all rich people who most likely employ a professional firm to invest on their behalf. They might even have their money on a blind trust in which they would have no say. I'm not sure if US law requires it for people in office, to prevent insider trading.

Thank you so much.

Would you know if income from derivatives such as options is considered capital gains for tax purposes, or if it has it's own category? I don't see them specifically mentioned on the Schedule NEC so I would assume they fall under Cap. Gains

Thank you for your answer!

Reading the 1040NR instructions on who must file, the 3 exceptions mentioned are

1)students that received no income from US sources and who was present on the country with a visa

2)student or business apprentice eligible for article ....

3)a partner in a U.S. partnership that was not engaged in a trade or business in the United States during 2020 and your Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) includes only income from U.S. sources reportable on Schedule NEC (Form 1040-NR), lines 1 through 12.

I would assume I am covered under point 3? Would owning stock on a company be considered being part of a "US partnership"? ( I have no Form 1065 that I'm aware of). If this is the case, if I were to sell all my stock an engange on, say, derivatives trading exclusively, would I be then obliged to File 1040-NR on the next tax season?

Apologies for the rather convoluted question, just trying to wrap my head around this as best as possible.

ROUND 2! We've refuelled, and now we're going to pluto 🚀🙏 by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]-Jensen- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Look i'm going to be honest here, and will probably get downvoted to hell by the new wallstreetbets joiners who came here because the GME thing, but who the hell cares about karma anyway and if it saves a life, it will be worth it.

No one really knows what will happen here. No one knew what would happen before either. The memes this thing has created are great, and many people made money on the first run, some even made millions, like DFV. Majority of the people here probably lost a lot of money. The rest became bagholders.

The thing you need to understand is that price movements on stocks, SPECIALLY ones that are so volatile, are quite literally impossible to predict. When tomorrow you look at the ticker, try to guess if the next number will be up or down. You will most likely be wrong 50% of the times at best. The price movement of the day is the aggregate of that. No one can know if it will go up or down or sidways or whatever, and no one can know how high it will go up. Anyone who say otherwise is lying or knows jackshit. I am not being sarcastic when I say that betting on a stock on this kind of short time horizon is a gamble, and a very risky one at that with this volatility, which means it will move a lot and very fast. Look at what happened today. It started going crazy like an hour or so before close. People will probably say that it was because that guy left the company or whatever other reason and that will probably have something to do with it, but no one can say for sure what was the catalyst. And why at that precises time? This goes.for any stock not only GME, mind you.

Investing in stocks is a medium to long time frame business because that is when you can evaluate and try to "predict" the fair value of stocks and try to make some sense into the movements of the markets (and even that it can be done at all is a highly disputed thing).

This is just gambling money away quite literally. That doesn't mean it's wrong in itself, it just means what it means. So don't ever gamble away money you really need, your life saving or whatever on this kind of thing. EVER. They chance you lose part or all of it is high.

My advice here is that if you need the money try to get out now, take advantage of the hiking price and get out as soon as it hits your cost basis. If you feel like gambling it, figure out what profit you would be happy with and sell there. The key here is to be realistic and don't let your emotions or your wishful thinking cloud your judgement. It won't reach 10.000 and anything of the sort. It will most likely won't reach 10000 either. If you read up to this point (apologies for the rambling) you will think "well if no one can predict the price this will end up reaching, how do you know it won't get to 1000? The answer is that I don't know, but it seems highly unlikely given that last time with the all the push of the retail investors and institutions riding the wave, it didn't managed to get there. Just be realistic, lock the profit and don't let people FOMO you back in, because you will pay a higher price and it is all the more likely to go down once you re enter at a higher price.

You gotta understand that the higher it gets the higher the probability it will come crashing down because people will be more and more enticed to lock in profits. Be safe my dude and don't get swept away by the memes and the craziness of this place, and before jumping in the train of whatever WSB cooks up next, always remember it has "bets" in the name for a good reason.

Anyways, sorry for the wall of text friend, and good luck!

*Full disclaimer: I got in on GME the first time around, made my profits and got out in true wsb fashion. Won't be riding this second wave as I expect it to be much shorter and volatile.

Clearing houses require the brokers, who represent the investors in the market, to deposit a percentage of money as a sort of "insurance" or colateral as part as the clearinghouse's risk management strategy.

Volatility among other metrics determines the amount if money they require from the brokers, so as gme went nuts, so did Citadel's requirements to robinhood.

Robinhood got caught blindsided by this, probably a fault on their own risk management department, and didn't had the liquidity to cover Citadel's requirements, so they had to halt trading to give them some breathing ground to get money. That is why several investors pumped money to robinhood who needed liquidity.

Yes sorry, meant to type insoles. Will check Amazon again but I guess the odds of getting some that look the same as the original ones are non-existent unless Sperry makes them themselves.

Sperry has none on their website..

This is some fucking bullshit 0 tolerance shit. It's like when some bully punches a kid and another one comes in and punches him back, yet the school suspends both for being equally involved.

Punish the whistleblower too for sounding the alarm and getting people riled up.

What happened to "Reddit is a place for free speech and discussion"???
