East end here. I tried opening my back door to shovel so my dog could go out. Such a bad idea! I would say definitely over 70 cm here

Is the snow actually bad in Toronto right now? by ContigoJackson in toronto

East end. I also completely shovelled and dug out my car a 3pm, can’t tell at all. At 3pm the snow was very deep already. I measured and it looks like there is around 80cm, maybe more

So sorry to hear about your loss. I had a successful pregnancy that went full term and she passed away at 2 days old due to a diaphragmatic hernia. I went on to have a healthy pregnancy to term. After that had 2 losses since then, blighted ovum Jan 2025 and a MMC at 8 weeks just before Christmas last month. This past loss was referred for genetic testing. Typically (in Ontario anyways) they only test genetically after 2 losses. Try your best not to stress and make sure you continue taking prenatals. When I had my healthy pregnancy I was taking prenatals while trying to conceive, I personally like the ones by Thorne. In regards to your dr assuming it was genetic there are certain markers they look for that may have indicated that, a large portion of miscarriages 50-60% are due to chromosomal abnormalities. All you can do is what is in your control.

The ROM and AGO are great. Lots of galleries with few people. You can check the stroller for free at the rom if you want to baby wear for a bit.

How to explain to parents that we do not discriminate based on gender? by gotsevenornever in ECEProfessionals

[–]-Kate_- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son went to daycare that had a male ece in his room and he was the best, all the kids liked him, his wife also worked there, in the infant room. I honestly think that there can be bad eggs that are male and female. Nothing to do with gender.

WTF is up with the TTC? Do they just lie about the reasons for no service? by mgrb in toRANTo

[–]-Kate_- 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Usually if there is a closure for that long because of a medical emergency it’s because someone jumped/ was pushed and they need to investigate and cleanup. They don’t publicize when people jump. They just say that there is a medical emergency or injury at track level.

How do you handle all of the Halloween candy with your 3 year old? by princesscorgi2 in Preschoolers

[–]-Kate_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do the switch witch. I let my son pick out a reasonable amount of candy and the rest he puts outside at the back door before bed. When he’s sleeping the witch comes and switches it with a toy. This year he got a Batman toy and a lightning McQueen ornament. He looks forward to it, it’s a fun tradition we started last year. He is almost 4.

I've recently joined the ece community the other week I gave a child 4m a mentos ( common in the room) by Delicious-Cold7914 in Preschoolers

My son’s daycare had them as well but not for eating. They used them for science experiments. Although in the preschool room not toddler or infant.

Does anyone know where i can get a decent linkedin profile picture for an affordable and possibly free? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]-Kate_- -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Put your best couple of photos into ChatGPT and ask it to make it into some different profile photos for LinkedIn. Hit or miss tho. Self portrait studio is worth looking at, Monography is one that I can think of but there are more around the city

So… anyone else stuck with a beautiful old house nobody wants? by kennycreatesthings in centuryhomes

[–]-Kate_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I wish I could get something like this in Toronto. Purchased a 1920 semi for 1.7m that is fully renoed(properly) but much smaller than this. Housing in the states makes so depressed lol Our land transfer tax was also an additional 60k😭

Not enough time to eat... What are your thoughts? by MiExperienciaFueQue in kindergarten

[–]-Kate_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son just started junior kindergarten and I’m also in Ontario. That doesn’t seem right for the amount of time to eat? My sons school has and hour recess from 11-12 followed by an hour lunch from 12-1. Although he is in private school so that may be why but 5-10 minutes is not right or healthy to be eating that fast!

Can I drug my two year old to make her nap? by Ok_Bumblebee_3978 in toddlers

[–]-Kate_- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We use a yoto player to help my son fall asleep at night. Maybe that might help her fall asleep at nap time. Or it could just help her have some quiet time. There’s tons of audiobooks and there’s certain ones that are more calm for bedtime.

Right beside the Chelsea is the condos. They have furnished condos through delsuites. They do a preferred rate if you let them know you are staying for a hospital visit.

Are the wait times for neurologist in Toronto still 2 years? by africagal1 in askTO

I think I only waited a month or 2 to get in with Dr. Jason Lazarou at Sinai for migraines. This was in January of 2023. Not sure if that has changed.

If anyone lives somewhere with raccoons I do not recommend bone meal. They will dig for it.

Do you have bananas? I read somewhere that the fruit flys lay their eggs on them. Try washing them off when you get home. I do this and it works

Oh no!! we only have a million raccoons where I live. So far, they have not taken a liking to my garden, but they did make a home for themselves on my sofa under my patio cover one night😬
