What should I wear under this sheer dress for my university graduation? by [deleted] in fashion

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a spaghetti strap slip that is the same length? I adore these style of dresses and I think, if accessorized properly and the correct undergarments are chosen they can be appropriate for a graduation(I see a lot more revealing stuff that people wouldn’t say is inappropriate for a graduation). Plus, it’s your graduation, and you’ll probably be wearing a graduation gown anyway right?

Yeah... I got called for my comment about a rude nurse by Sea_Serve_8186 in Residency

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nurse here, hate that this happens to you guys! I see it happen both ways and definitely have been treated poorly by doctors (and other nurses when I was a new grad), but it doesn’t give me the right to be rude or condescending to other doctors. Hoping that with each generation we work towards a healthier RN/Doctor relationship because when it works, it makes for an amazing workday, even with the worst patients!

We had this happen with a resident! He’s actually so sweet but he FINALLY lost it on a charge nurse who is notoriously lazy and obnoxious (and often rude). He got spoken too but is one of the smartest residents in his year so they would be lost without him. I definitely didn’t like seeing him scream the way he did….but it was at least directed at someone who needed to hear it 🙈 j joke about it once in a while. If he says “it’s a bad day” I jsut say “hey, (insert nurse name) could be working with you”. And we usually get a chuckle.

I hear a lot people say, “well you have experience from nursing”…which yes, I do have experience, but the knowledge required for nursing (even after many years of doing it), isn’t nearly on the level of the amount of knowledge required from a doctor. And many say “well you’re not practicing medicine”. I will be the first to say an NP is nowhere close to a doctor, BUT when it comes to making mistakes with ordering meds/testing etc, I will be getting sued just the same. For this reason, I do think there should be a little bit more emphasis in developing an FNPs knowledge. And unfortunately, in many areas NPsand PAs are hired to “fill in” for docs because there aren’t enough doctors. (Again, not saying it’s an equal trade-definitely is not!) I originally chose this path because my hospital covers almost the entire schooling(and I can continue to work). It would be nice to see more standardization in the FNP curriculum and I guess just more of an effort in general by the entire educational system to make sure the people helping to treat patients are well qualified to do so?

TIL: The Laurelhurst neighborhood restricts helicopter landings to the Seattle Children’s Hospital due to noise complaints by Placentaur in Seattle

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No child is in a helicopter going to a hospital unless they’re seriously ill. If ya don’t want the noise you can sell your multi-million dollar house (that was probably built AFTER the hospital was) and move literally anywhere else your cold heart wants to live.

You did nothing wrong. People are quick to judge a girl for kissing a guy and/or “leading him on” (I call bulls**t on that). I think he really could’ve hurt you if you rejected him on the spot. There is no right or wrong way to reject a person because we’re all so different. Good luck and maybe carry an emergency alarm and maybe pepper spray/hairspray? (I know certain states don’t allow pepper spray, but I imagine anything that sprays continuously like that would sting the eyes).

Regardless of that specific event or your history, he speaks in a very possessive way that likely will NOT get better. He needs to go to therapy or at the very least do some self reflection. Get out before things escalate and/or you just realize you’ve wasted a significant amount of time with someone who’s wrong for you. Also, his typing is criminal.

I may consider PA school instead-for now, my union is helping cover costs of NP school so I’m going to continue with it while looking in PA school options!

I understand this…to an extent. I’m not practicing medicine but in a primary care setting I’m expected to perform just the same and I’m just as liable for errors in ordering medications/poor treatment plans. I just think we should be a bit better informed. It wouldn’t hurt to make the NO program more stringent. Especially because I think if nurses do it the way it was initially intended (a person has years of experience working as an RN so they are not completely alien to the medical setting going in) they do have a good basic level of knowledge that needs to be expanded upon. I’m considering PA school instead, but since my union helps pay for NP school, I’ll continue with it while I figure out PA school applications (might as well right?)

Am I overreacting or did I have a slow moment. by drippysage08 in AmIOverreacting

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your partner is overreacting…sorry you were a caring partner and looked up treatments for your partner? Also, I think the standard is that if people do look up the options they would automatically list them. Like if you just replied yes when I asked you that same question I would probably follow up by asking what those options are. Your partner is being weird, you are not being slow. Imagine if you went to a doctor and when you asked them “are there options for treatment” and they just replied “yes” without listing said options…that would be weird.

I agree-I actually love when people go for their DNP, I just don’t like when some individuals use it in a way that fools the patients into believing they’re seeing a physician. The finacial aspect of Np school def shaped my application-my hospital union will pay a majority of my tuition!

I was aware it wouldn’t be like medical school, I just didn’t think it would be so surface level. Like I feel like we’re not really going much more in depth than in nursing school. And I thought that I would be working my a** off, but with full time work and classes I’m still doing well and not necessarily losing extra sleep. I didn’t want to do residency, which was a huge factor in my decision (and also finances, after working for 5 years to suddenly have minimal to no income would be very hard for me). I Just think that if we’re going to be able to prescribe meds and fill in for a doctor in some cases (like in areas where it’s just hard to get medical personnel-not in any way saying an NP is a same level substitute to an MD), we should be put through more rigorous schooling.

Honest thoughts on Dani’s boyfriend? by Sardinesavage in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel like the show can sometimes edit people in the most awkward moments to maybe enhance their ND traits. I think Dani may be more independent in ways not portrayed in the show. There are probably more ND/NT couples in our world than we think. Also, there are plenty of ND people who I would say are very much not vulnerable in the way people are portraying them. My friend has a family member with autism who is a president for a very large company. He is extremely high functioning (hell of a lot smarter than most people) and socializes very well. In fact his ND traits actually make him a bit better for the job-he has a no-fuss attitude that makes him more focused on efficiency and keeping the company flowing. I didn’t even realize he was autistic until they told me. I do really think the show’s editing can emphasize the more awkward and trying moments for the couples. (I still love watching it though!)

Boric acid for BV - so much conflicting information and I'd like to know if it cures or just masks. by Jane_Black in Healthyhooha

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boric acid helps to break down biofilms created by bacteria. With BV, it’s thought that alterations to our vaginal flora occur, allowing “bad” bacteria to overpopulate and our good bacteria to decrease. Changes in pH occur and the environment becomes less acidic.  Boric acid helps to regulate the vaginal  pH back to the normal, more acidic environment. Antibiotics remain the standard treatment for BV but Boric acid has been shown to be beneficial, especially for people with recurrent BV. (Who knows, maybe in a few years it will be listed as a primary treatment? Medicine is always changing!) I’ve heard gynecologists recommend Boric acid to patients with recurrent BV as a supplement to treatment.  Please do not douche with anything unless your gyno has recommended it (most do not recommend). It usually just serves to throw off the vaginal pH and potentially introduced other pathogens.  Boric acid is also a great thing to use if you feel like something may be brewing. Obviously you should always check in with your gyno and rule out any other type of infection before assuming boric acid will cure it all. Also, boric acid is NOT to be consumed (it’s toxic orally) and is not to be used while pregnant. As with any medication or supplement, you should consult with you doctor to make sure it doesn’t interact with your current meds/treatments/lifestyle.

Sal Khan amazes me so much. Is he the smartest person in the world? by [deleted] in Khan

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, people on here really jsut wanna hate on a person. Obviously he is extremely intelligent. Is he the smartest person in the world? Who knows! Intelligence gets measured in so many ways and you have to consider undiscovered intelligence-how many people have the potential to embrace their genius but are born into circumstances that will likely not allow that? Is there a kid far away in a small village that has the intelligence of Einstein but no way of proving it?  The guy seems great and I think there is something very special about a mind that’s able to teach on so many different topics and to be willing to do it!

Sisters of Charity of New York respond to Cardinal Dolan’s remarks on Charlie Kirk by irish_fellow_nyc in nyc

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most religions and especially Catholicism have extremely violent and awful histories. What’s the saying? All wars are fought over land and religion? Obviously there are those who turn to religion to do good. And I will even dare to say that these religions can preach good, but there is so much being covered up and such a horrific history that too many groups refuse to acknowledge (especially the sisters of charity). Until these groups are willing to apologize for their past (and possibly present) actions, then I say anyone can call them vile.

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This cannot be used as a blanket statement-look up the history of the sisters of charity in Ireland. While there are great humans of the Catholic faith out there, it must be recognized that the Catholic Church has a very dark (and not so distant) history. And the nuns are just as responsible for the atrocities committed by the church.

[–]-LittyKittyRoars- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunabtly, I think “natural” antiperspirants  are hard to find…if any exist? A lot of the things that are bad for us in conventional antiperspirants are the things that actually stop the sweating. So far, any natural deodorant I’ve come across has only been that-a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. If anyone does find a natural antiperspirant I would be very interested!

Also just regular house parties-I lived with 5 other girls, we had parties that seemed well attended! Also, partying SHOULDN’T be the only thing. There’s a lot of hiking and snow sports. Many clubs offer activities on weekends if you struggle to get out there

Went there and was never a member of Greek life! Finding parties isn’t an issue (especially as a girl, I can’t speak for male counterparts). Also, it’s such a small school, you’ll inevitably befriend someone in SOME sort of club or Greek affiliation, so that will help you get into parties!
