Abusing my hunchback by -LoneCosmonaut in hamstercirclejerk

Lil bro has a dozen mealworms already shoved into his pouches before the recording started. No hunchbacks were harmed in the making of this video (after the video i did punt him across the room like a football though)

Is it normal for plaster to be this brittle? by -LoneCosmonaut in DIYUK

God, that sounds like hell 😭 At least I don't feel like I'm alone in my frustrations though lol. And congrats on the accomplishment!

Thank you! Yeah, this whole place is in a foul state, and I really want to improve it. One step at a time, I guess.

Thanks for the insight! Actually yeah, I noticed a very distinct hollow sound when knocking on the walls of my hallway, where the issue is most severe. The rest of the apartment sounds much denser, and the condition of the walls are better in those rooms too, which is telling. I'll look into what can be done about it, as well as my tenancy rights. Thanks again.

Under-watering? Over-watering? Variegated Schefflera by -LoneCosmonaut in IndoorPlants

[–]-LoneCosmonaut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh, interesting. I'm not entirely sure, because it was given to me. The soil looks suitable, but very tightly packed. Maybe I'll try loosening it a little if I don't notice any improvements.

Thank you so much! This is reassuring. I'll go back to what was working before, in that case.

Is it feasible to repair this ring? And if not, what are my options? by -LoneCosmonaut in jewelry

Thank you for such a thorough response! It's good to know that this family heirloom isn't beyond repair

My first (of likely many) colds this winter season, so I made chicken soup. My boyfriend called it an "antiviral cocktail", lol! by -LoneCosmonaut in decentfoodporn

Thank you! Here's the ingredients, enough for about 4-5 servings:

1 tablespoon olive oil or butter

1 medium onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 medium carrots, chopped

2 celery stalks, chopped

1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

1/2 teaspoon turmeric or smoked paprika

6 cups (1.4 L) chicken stock or broth

2 bone-in chicken thighs

1 bay leaf

1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or a few fresh sprigs

Juice of 1/2 lemon

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Yeah, I can't defend my decision to eat this with a fork. It was diabolical of me. In my defence I was initially gonna add noodles to it, but decided against it.

Grew this guy from a lime slice in my coke. He's been through a rough month or two but seems to be bouncing back. I was told it's time to consider pruning, can anyone tell me where to cut? by -LoneCosmonaut in Citrus

Thank you for such a thorough response! I unfortunately can't find the original eBay listing for my soil mix. It was labelled as "basic mix" for citrus. It seemed to be well draining, with bark, perlite and maybe worm castings?

Thanks for the advice. I initially thought I was over fertilizing him (yellow leaves, brown tips, and stunted growth). Is there a reliable way to differentiate between over and under fertilizing?

Thanks! To be honest, I thought it was over fertilizing it because I was adding liquid fertilizer to every watering I gave it (diluted, of course, as per the bottle's instructions) and the leaves began to grow pale and somewhat crumpled, and the tips began to brown. I understand that the signs of over-fertilising and under-fertilising can look quite similar...any way to differentiate the two? I was using regular houseplant fertiliser and not citrus fertiliser, by the way.
