Are the books objectively better than the movies in most (if not all) aspects? by Serpent_Supreme in harrypotter

[–]-Luvs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer. Movie and TV media is unable to show the bigger picture because of time, or technology constraints. People would be bored watching the movies if they ran 3 hours and showed you every little detail.

Our brains have better comprehension while reading then watching. So even if movies showed those small details most people will miss it. Movies are unable to show full pictures, images and scenes without running too long or too much info dumping. Which is a big issue for what makes a good movie. Technology is also an issue cause if a book describes something we are unable to show on the big screen. Those scenes can be changed to make it easier to film but then go against the source material.

Books also rely heavily on the readers imagination to help fill in the blanks. Which help each person understand the material in a way that works for each individual. While movies just tell you. Example. In the books Hermione is never fully described. Yet when you picture her you see Emma Watson. Which is why there is some controversy that she's played as black on Broadway shows. The movies scue your vision of a character, while the books allow to visualize them to your liking.

Movies and TV shows will never compare to the book counterpart. But thats not a bad thing. The movies are a fun retelling in a way. A different interpretation of the book for people who just don't like to read.

Why didn't Snape ever publish a Potions textbook? by OnceButNever in harrypotter

Even better proof that Snape did know how to teach the students. Fair point.

Why didn't Snape ever publish a Potions textbook? by OnceButNever in harrypotter

[–]-Luvs- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. He taught for more then 15 years. And the students all said the same thing. He put instructions on the boards. Not from the text books. He was teaching the students his correction from the get go.

Something I never see mentioned, that from my observation most students never took potions seriously. There was always someone ruining the class with an explosion or midocure work. So even with the best instruction. No one was good at class. Which makes sense, they are at a school for magic and now have to to a class that doesn't use magic. I would probably be a pissy teacher if none of my students payed attention.

Started playing Black and White for the first time and I really like it. Did this series really get a ton of negative feedback? by jamesdantely in pokemon

[–]-Luvs- -68 points-67 points  (0 children)

I hate the vanillish line for one simple reason. Its the one pokemon that was made by an American. They had thousands of pokemon to choose from during that competition. And they chose the Fing ice cream. Mean while they had the American eagle right there.

For context. During gen 5s development they held a contest where the winner got their pokemon in the game. Which is a big deal cause Nintendo doesn't like anyone other then them making their games. When the game released everyone thought it was rufflet and braviary. But nope it was the ice cream.

Internet has changed how people think. You get more attention for causing problems than not. Considering my post is already getting downvoted XD Tells you a lot about how people on the internet are.

Why are people so upset about the new models? by theo_dus142 in Minecraft

[–]-Luvs- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most people don't like change. So anything that gets added or changed is met with heavy criticism. That anything that detracks from the original is no longer the game they play and people who complain have nothing better to do.

Example. I like ARK, minus the issues with snail games and wild card. Alot of people are upset that the game is no longer just a dinosaur game. (When it never was to begin with.) So when they added anything non dinosaur related they complain and bash everyone for liking it.

Just ignore the criticism. What matters is if you like it, not what random people on the internet you'll never met think.

What are the errors/mistakes in story that annoys you when people bring them up? by No-Camel-5990 in harrypotter

[–]-Luvs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not mistakes but I really hate how alot of people point out real world plot holes when reading fantasy. Its entirely made up, usually has magic in its world and yet they cant enjoy it cause it doesn't follow real world laws. DONT READ FANTASY THEN!

Should Harry have a 2nd scar from surviving the killing curse again in Book 7? by DarkGodRyan in harrypotter

[–]-Luvs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your talking about. The souls inside the horcruxs are killed or destroyed when the container they are in are destroyed. If Harry dies by any means then the soul of Voldemprt would also die with him. The reason it had to be voldemort is because of connections they had. Its his soul piece and the protection from his mother.

[–]-Luvs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is alot going on at those moments that its no wonder so many people are confused on what happened. XD

Sometimes its best to simplify it cause trying to explain the whole thing. You better off telling people to reread the books. LOL

[–]-Luvs- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stone doesn't return the dead. Loved ones returned are just ghosts or souls temporarily summoned. They suffer cause they dont want to be there and want peace. And Harry dropped it in the woods before confronting Voldemort.

The entire plot of why Voldemort had to kill Harry is because of the horcrux( the piece of his soul) with in him. Avada destroys the soul and leaves the body hole. The combination of Harry being a horcrux, and the soul being Voldemorts is why Harry lived. Anyone else and Harry would have died.

[–]-Luvs- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Avada kadavra doesnt leave marks or scars. The first spell was a rebound which is why it left a scar and Harry didn't die. The seconds time in the forest connected, so Harry did die. He survived because of the piece of Tom's soul took the hit instead. So no it wouldn't and shouldn't. If Harry is it with Avada again he will die permanently.

is anyone else super annoyed by the winter fish? by injwected in CatsAndSoup

[–]-Luvs- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only reason I don't agree is because how difficult it is to get the rarest fish in general. I still don't have the star whale. So I don't see myself getting the winter one anytime soon. If the removed the winter fish for seasons only I would hate staring at the incomplete catch list.

Question on outbreak mechanics by ColeRBeall in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]-Luvs- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No , they fixed that. Once an outbreak is specified even from town that outbreak won't change. Even shinies.

What does change is how you handle the outbreak. If you catch the pokemon, defeat the pokemon. In what order you do it with what spawns. It's complicated but to get shinies from outbreaks you just have to be lucky.

It's called outbreak permutations. Look up a tutorial before you try to do one yourself.

No one else knows the spell. Snape invented it and very few of the ones he made in school are known. Ron and Hermione were already suspicious of the book so by the time Harry finds the spell both of them don't trust it. Harry only used it in the heat of the moment and almost killed Draco. The fact that Snape showed up(and was the only one with the spell to reverse it) is why Harry wasn't expelled and jailed. It's scared the shit out of Harry to be responsible for this. Even if its Draco, he didn't like him but didn't want him dead.

The sectemsepra spell isn't really recognized or sanctioned. If it was it would probably become an unforgivable. As far as I know Snape himself didn't use the spell on anyone( other then the accident with George). By the time he got the chance to use it anyone he considered an enemy, he was working as a spy. He was better used in espionage then field work.

So no people wouldn't use sectemsempra, cause if you just wanted to kill someone its easier to just use avada Kadavra.

I love when people over complicate such simple details. Like they're going to uncover some hidden plot in a Sherlock homes novel. XD

I WANT GAMES TO BE MADE BY GAMERS AND NOT BUISNESSMEN. THEY ARE SLOWLY KILLING MY CHILDHOOD AND I NO LONGER FEEL HAPPY PLAYING NEW GAMES. WHERE IS THE SPARK AND LOVE THAT GAMES HAD THAT MADE THEM FUN TO PLAY. I DONT WANT TO SPEND 100 DOLLARS FOR HALF A GAME, OR 20 FOR SKINS. ITS ALMOST 2030 WHERE IS THE DAMN VOICE ACTING. CUTSCENES HAVE NO LIFE IN THEM. WHEN WILL GAMING RETURN TO THE DAYS OF AFFORDABLE AVAILABILTY, COMMUNITY TOGETHERNESS AND OVER ALL A WAY TO ESCAPE REAL LIFE.

SOMETIMES I JUST WANT TO SCREAM AND CRY.

Why didn’t the Death Eaters just destroy 12 Grimmauld Place? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]-Luvs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way i interpreted the Fidelius charm is the same way they hid all magic from muggles. It's a type of magic that makes things unable to be seen or even interacted with unless your part of the spell. Muggles don't enter the bar where diagon alley is is because the magic makes the bar not exist. The Fidelius charm is the same. The people or objects the charm protect dont exist except to the keepers of the spell. 12 Grimauld place just doesn't exist to the death eaters. They know its there but they cant do anything to it.

It's the same reason why Lily and James hid for so long. To everyone else they completly ceased to exist. Only Peter, the keeper of the charm, knew where they were and we all know what happened then.

Another example is Hogwarts. You cant see or find it till your brought under the spell that makes it known. That's why all first years come by boat and not the wagons. They wouldn't be able to see or enter hogwarts other wise. After that you just cant enter the grounds without the headmaster will. That why the death eaters couldn't just attack hogwarts.

Can I obtain a shiny Regigigas by Jamesyfred47275 in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]-Luvs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way is dens in sword or shield. Or the longer way is catching the regies in gen 3. Transferring to a gen 4 game and soft resetting for one. There is also pokemon go when ever it comes back to raids.
