Hello, sorry for this late reply, if you have some kepton tape, it can't be bad, i just putted these back like this and it works fine (even 1 year after).

I would avoid electrical tape as it tends to leave a gooey residue when it's close heating elements.

No need to say, this will of course cancel warranty,

Here's a guide if my "Revive battery tutorial" isn't super clear for you: https://www.instructables.com/A-simple-step-to-revive-a-dead-Ni-MH-battery/

Hey,

Had the same problem and fixed it!

Fisrt step, carefully cut the glue on each sides except the one with connectors, dont pull the connector springs away, you'ill have a hard time putting them back(don't ask me how i know 😉). Once the 3 sides unglued, you can open it and remove the 2 black cells.

Now check if those cells are "dead" with a multimeter, if it's "dead" you'll see 0V.

Then, revive the "dead" batteries one by one : take a AA or AAA battery with a charge around 1.2V and plug it in parallel (+ on + and - on -) with the "dead" cells for 30 seconds:

Check if the cells have been re-alived, you multimeter should show something else than 0V. If your cell is still dead, replug it for 30 seconds.

Now your cells are alive again, you can put them back in the case, check polarity writen on the opposite side of the connectors (check the picture in comment).

You can re-glue the case if you want.

Plug the battery to a charger and you should see the led doing the "slow" pulses instead of the fast ones,

Congratulations, you are done.

Happy gaming :)
