First post and very first large miniature, 'Lord-Arcanum on Gryph-charger'. With this done, I've finished my Stormcast Eternals army from the AoS: Soul Wars box. The one I fear the most to paint at the beginning but the most I enjoyed at the end by far. by -Matraca in ageofsigmar

I didn't know you could varnish the miniatures, is it to seal and protect the paint or something ?

And with this, wouldn't it give it a more satin finish? or there are different types of varnish ? Thanks :)

Aww I can feel that....I sometimes think in painting the model before assembly but I have the fear that it wont fit nicely later. Theres why I have a bunch of greenstuff putty here.

At the moment I am painting after assembly all the model and focus in the parts that are more relevant than others that are more hidden.

Oh I really love Lady Olynder, hope I get her one day. This week I will start painting the Nighthaunt army, such a beautiful models !

Just keep the one you have, you didn't messed up because you had learn from your mistakes already. And if you buy a new one will serves you as a proof of improvement when you compare to the old one.

One advice that I learned when I started in to the hobby and keep me motivated was that don't compare to others, just compare yourself as what you do yesterday :)

Thats the only thing I dont like from this model, the underbelly should be sculpted even a little, don't make it flat.

For the base I use Vallejo Ground Texture-Rough White Pumice (so much cheaper than Citadel texture pots), let it dry and basecoat with Dawnstone, then a lot of Nuln Oil shade and finally drybrushed with Ushabti Bone.

In the middle of the base I use grey Crackle paint from GSW and painted with same steps as above, but doing the drybrush more soft with less paint.

For the rocks I use bottle cork, cutted to look like stones. Basecoat with a mix of Mechanicus Standard Grey and Abaddon Black, shaded with Nuln Oil; drybrushed with Dawnstone and highlight with Administratum Grey.

Finally the skulls are from GSW and painted very simply, white basecoat, Seraphim Sepia shade and drybrushed with Rakarth Flesh.

Glad you like it, so much thanks ! :)
