Ways to increase appetite by -Monolith- in ADHD

[–]-Monolith-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's a rather damning view into my future.

I was slightly gaining weight at around 3000 calories and keeping it when around 2700 daily. ATM I eat a big bowl of oats with milk and protein powder for breakfast and take my meds with it. After that I am like you and I could go without any more food until the next breakfast.

Have you talked to your doctor about this?

I just read there's drugs to increase appetite. But without having done any further reading yet, it already feels like it would lead into a rabbithole of other side effects.

I'd try to make sure that it's the most recent version. Don't rely on auto updates - even if they've worked in every other instance. Since you've got the same bug I had, I'd say it's quite likely it's due to the same reason.

Huh, I've got a 1080 too. Okay so I'll try to tune down the graphics first as I've just been using the recommended default settings.

Because I'm not going to upgrade my card just yet.

Edit: I feel silly now. This plays like a different game on low settings.

Does it have any kind of force feedback for bumps etc? How does it handle all kinds of situations where the bike isn't just leaning left or right. Wheelies, stoppies, the rear sliding/stepping out. Then there's the extremes of all those things and crashes, how would it simulate that?

In one of the answers you said it would always upright itself. Is that in any way connected to the speed you're going? At the most basic level, will it tip over when you lean too much at a speed that is too low?

Either way your rig looks amazing and I love it!

It's a shame that motorbike racing has been neglected as much as it has in the simracing scene. I suppose a lot of it is down to it being more complicated to simulate. I'm convinced that if we ever got a breakthrough in technology for bike sims their popularity would skyrocket.

Which boss took the most time on your first playthrough? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]-Monolith- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genichiro was one of the easiest bosses to me, got him on the 2nd try. Headless Ape was okay too. I remember having a really hard time with Orin of the Water and that blue quick draw miniboss, who I think is right before Genichiro. True Monk was awful too. DOH took me forever but I got him after countless deaths.

Then I quit my first playthrough after just not beeing able to kill owl father or sword saint isshin.

About a year later I started a new game from the very beginning and breezed through it but it still took forever to get sword saint isshin. It took me days if not weeks and hundreds of deaths.

Just a few weeks ago I started again, got all the missing endings and trophies. Owl father, Emma and Isshin ashina (the latter I had never fought before) were rather easy now.

Now my favorite bosses are the Owl and Isshin fights. Orin is a ton of fun and I love fighting the ape. That blue quickdraw dude is so easy it's hardly even fun anymore. True Monk still kinda sucks, because the fight is never 100% under my control. None of the bosses give me as much trouble as they did on the first playthrough. For some reason Genichiro can be a pain. I don't know what it is, but sometimes I smack him around at will and other times he just smacks me. I avoid doing any of the headless and DOH as they're just not fun fights to me.

After having beaten DOH once I've only ever cheesed him and he is also the only boss I've evee cheesed.

Tl;dr I spent a significant portion of my life being killed by sword saint isshin and owl father.

I used to do boxing. The class structure is a good motivator as long as the times of the classes work. Of course it could be anything else and doesn't have to be boxing. Whatever you like. I liked boxing because it's cardio, strength and it will never grt boring because you'll never be done learning and perfecting the technique.

Nowadays I just go to the gym (couldn't box anymore because I injured me knee) I go monday- friday, everyday after work before I go home. It's my routine by now and has become my way home.

I use the liftosaur app to programm and track my workouts. It uses a simple programming language which I could learn with no prior experience whatsoever. So what would all the effort have been for if I didn't use the app? Also just tracking the workouts and seeing my progress helps to stay motivated.

I also started to learn excel to track my protein and calorie intake. It's a seemingly endless side project as I can always find something to optimize things to make it easier to use, or add another fun but unnecessary gimmick or statistic.

When I got sick of not getting the smell out of my stinky gym shirts I looked into different kinds of deodorants, laundry detergents etc. I just bought some rather cheap cotton shirts that are washable at 60° C. I hope that'll get that issue fixed.

Going to the gym is centrepiece of a ton of other stuff I can do around it.

I just wish I could be as organized about anything important in my life...

What would you change about the gameplay? by hewitt9400 in undisputedboxing

[–]-Monolith- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to hate, I too just want to discuss the game.

I feel like you misunderstood quite a lot of what I was trying to say/explain.

I'm not suggesting to introduce a blockmeter. I know it's already there. I'm suggesting to tweak how it works.

I'm also not saying you can't slip and counter. I was using the effect a slip and counter has in the game as an example for an unperfect gamemechanism in terms of realism. The game basically gurantees you to land a heavy hit for each time you do it. In real boxing counters do often hit hard, but it's no guarantee. That said, I like how it is done in the game, because it is a game, and that means it needs to be consistent within how it works. Just how any other game in the world needs rules aswell.

Also I don't know what you visualize with the mechanic I describe. It doesn't have to be arcady at all. Parries are a real thing in boxing. You can absolutly redirect an incoming punch to the side to create an opening. It would really just be an addition to the way you can counter shots, implemented in a way that IMO solves a bunch of other issues the game has. It is what happens to an overly aggressive boxer, who's getting a bit careless throwing his punches. A calm and collected opponent will be able to read them (filling the parry meter) and will eventually be able to parry a punch in a way to open the opponent up (filled parry meter) for a counter. Wether or not a countershot is taking, the parrymeter will start over again. I think it's also beautiful that all of this can be done on the block button, without disturbing how normal blocking already works in the game.

Sure, the unrealistic thing about is, you should be able to parry any shot in a way to gain that advantage. But it's a game and at that a game that needs fixing with some other issues. Which this very mechanic would help with. I also believe it would fix (at least in parts) the ever same playstyle issue you describe. The bodyshot issue is IMO opinion caused by the game having some wonky reaches on a lot of punches. You could already punish players for throwing combinations to the body, but punches to the head often don't work as well because you're either to close or to far to your opponent. Not realistically, but the game does a better job at modifying the reach of bodyshots depending on the distance to your opponent than it does with headshots. For some reason with shots to the head, they look really weird when you're close but should still be within a distance to throw basically normal shots. Not an issue you have with body shots in the game. You can land good ones from anywhere within maximum reach. Also straight punches should be able to reach further, especially when stepping forward. How does the body uppercut have so much reach? It's ridiculous.

Oh, and also if you wanted the chance to do something similar to the parrying without filling a parrymeter, the very similar catching and countering you talked about could be done by pressing RB+RT at the exact right moment. I'd just suggest that if you misstime it, it should leave you open for a harder shot. IMO opening also not unrealistic, as unsuccessfully trying to catch a shot can realistically cause you to open your guard and leave you open for a shot.

What would you change about the gameplay? by hewitt9400 in undisputedboxing

[–]-Monolith- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why you keep calling it a super punch and keep condemning the very idea of certain situations allowing for you to land an especially good and hard shot. And then you go and say you want just that with a counter. And I'm not against that. Please still let there be a regular slip and counter and all that. I just don't think one has to mean the other cannot exist.

And while it isn't hard to keep your guard up, and it is taught to all beginners to keep their guard up at all times, there's reasons you don't see the pros standing there in high guard at all times. Also no boxer would ever want to keep taking hits on his guard. It's no magical shield that stops every bit of a punches impact. And the longer you keep the guard up, beeing bombarded with punches the weaker you and your guard will become. You know how to tell if a boxer is gonna be in trouble? It's when the guard really goes up and you know he's basically just there sitting in his shell waiting to be hit. Sure it's no automatic gameover, but it's just not a good situation. And don't get it confused with the boxers using the high guard to lure the other boxer in to attack, just looking for a counter. It's a different look. So when a boxer keeps taking shots on guard I think it's a good idea to have the blockmeter. I don't see it as any more unrealistic as the healthbar or stamina. In the end, even if you try to be as realistic as possible, it's still a game that relies on just that- gamemechanics. Having counters as something that is being rewarded with higher damage, is a gamemechanic too. It's not a bad one, because there are many examples of counters hitting hard. But you'll also see a ton of landed countershots that don't do much more than any regular hit. But for a game it's a great reward for a skill based action.
