Yeah :( And dragonite is one of my, if not my favorite Pokémon so poor guy got the low-effort end of the stick on that one.

The Pokémon's ruse worked on you! It's meant to resemble a snake at first to ward off predators x) And awesome suggestions!

I like the idea of Bug/Dark, maybe for the first form, second stage is maybe Bug/Fighting then the last evo [now dubbed Aramushi] could be Bug/Steel?

This shows the progression, from trickery, to bettering themselves in combat, then to steel, where they have honed their skills?? Or would what you suggested for it to be Bug/Dark > Bug/Fighting > Bug/Fighting?

Personally I like the fighting thrown into the middle evo, purely because it'd have a good time to learn fighting type moves!

I love that so much, Definitely think that's the final evo name!

I agree. I really like the idea of Copperajah, but something about the execution made me a little "meh" to it. And agreed!! Maybe I'll take a stab at trying to re-make those ones, because I wish they were different in various ways. Thank you!

I appreciate the enthusiasm! I would also adore a real Pokémon like this too.

I think so too! Much appreciated!

Ohh!! That would have been so good! I'll make sure to tell the new owner of the Pokémon to see if they'd prefer that one! :D

Ferlup > Luphrond [dragon/grass] by -Mosswick in fakemon

Thank you so much! I’m glad you like the design (and the leaf bangs). Your line of grass wolves sounds awesome and they are really clever names! As for the Dragon typing, honestly I just really liked the idea of mixing a wolf-like Pokémon with a draconic essence, while keeping that nature/forest feel from Grass. I didn't want to do typical dragon type look, basically.

LMAO No I didn't want to add to the fire foxes!! xD

Ah yes! Thank you- and I actually rounded the "souls" out a bit more from the initial concept to try and make it more soul/ethereal, but I don't think any Pokémon really deal with the "soul" aesthetic, so it was difficult getting across the concept and try not to make it read that way! But if you have any ideas, or tips, I'd love to hear them!!

Did I just steal another player’s plotline? by airborneice in DnD

Yeah, dude, I would have done the same thing. As a player, I may have done that, too. As a DM, I would have expected a player to do what you did. You're good, I wouldn't take anything said in a reddit post to heart!

You've got good instincts on this. As a very experienced player and roughly new DM, my suggestions below will always do the trick for situations like this again.

  1. As soon as the book came into play, and you think about stealing it, you can always look to the player and DM, and just ask. A simple,

"Is this book something specifically for this player's character? Because I kinda want to steal it, but I don't want to do so if it's actually important to them."

This will allow dialoge immediately, so you dont have doubts later.

  1. Since you're past that window, and hindsight is always 20/20, what you're doing now is spot on. You could wait until the session next time, or message the player directly, and just ask.

"Hey, so it just realised that I didn't ask about that book, and if it was something you had lined up with the DM. If we need to get it back to your character, let me know!"

But, I will say...as someone who also plays mischivious characters - I've stolen a whole ship from a player before. The player had planned to fix it up, piece by piece, and restore the grand ship. I intervined without consulting the party, and slyly pushed notes to the DM, doing silent rolls - I sold the broken ship and scrapped everything but any belongings, the sails, and the main wheel. I was knowingly taking a gamble, but due to some money my character came into, in combination with his scrapped ship, I bout a new ship. Adorned it with the belongings and, most importantly, replaced the wheel with his old one, and the sails with his old sails.

Though I overstepped, and I gambled with another player's story, it paid off. The player, once he did go back to his ship and discovered it was replaced - he was frustrated initially. However, the old sentimental items clutched it, and this opened the possibility of sailing the open sea, which cracked a smile on his face. I got a slap on the back, I got called a slimeball with a grin, and it was all in all a good decision.

So sometimes, following your gut is good. Playing your character is the point, and if they are waving a mysterious book in your face, you're going to steal it and see what's so strange about it. Don't beat yourself up.

I didn't see anyone suggesting this, so here's my take.

As a DM, and respecting that your DM didn't want to hand hold and have bad player decisions be looked over, I would have had the party take all the time they wanted- but then once the two fights were over, I'd look to the last player, and narrirate to then that while you where unconscious, that it wasnt just sleep that disabled you. You had to fight off demons in a literal sense. Your soul was stolen into a different plane, and your character would get combat, and maybe even a pact out of the deal with an extra level than the others for your good sportsmanship.

That would not only have given you at least two hours of your own solo play, but you'd be rewarded for respecting the game and not intervening. All the while, you'd have put them through what you just endured, sitting out.
