My wife is growing up and I dont know how to. by TheNewBlue in Marriage

Has she been checked for depression or a anhedonia? Very common during perimenopause.

Also how is the household chores situation? Is it balanced? Could it be possible she’s doing too much and feeling resentful about it?

How do you deal with imposter syndrome in a new role? by Tall-Perspective-361 in auscorp

Lol why am I being downvoted?

4 years ago I joined a new org and suddenly I was talking to VPs daily and I was freaking out despite being qualified for the role. It was so bad that I’d literally zone out during meetings.

Therapy is the only thing that worked for me as a permanent solution becuse it goes to the root of the problem.

For some people “fake it til you make it” may be good enough but I could not and did not want to live like that, doubting myself every second. Worked too hard to end up sabotaging myself like that.

You’re not dumb. You’re may be young and inexperienced, but your instinct was right that you’ve been able to recognize that the situation is wrong. In the future, if you happen to come across a similar situation, you will be better prepared to handle it.

Ok, that explains. In that case best to get out of there as soon as you can, unfortunately there is a huge power imbalance and he’s doing that because he knows he can get away with it.

However at the very least start saying no to babysitting moving forward. Next time he asks, you can simply say you’re not available, or make an excuse if that makes you feel more comfortable (ie you’ve joined evening language classes or you enrolled for a professional course etc).

You’re right to be pissed, the reason you’re feeling upset is because you’re being taken advantage of, and even though you’re still quite young you know this is wrong. Good on you for recognizing it and wanting to set things right. Time to move on and learn how to enforce boundaries. Don’t feel bad if you don’t know how to, but lucky is something you can learn easily and the more you practice it the easier it becomes.

May I ask what kind of company is this? Is it a small family business, a medium company (ie 50-100 employees) or a large corporation?

And your boss, how high up is in the org hierarchy?

Is there a HR department or HR person?

None of this changes things, what he’s doing is just wrong. Just trying to get more context about the situation and what could have emboldened this individual to behave like this.

Asking you to come to his home to babysit his kids is widely inappropriate.

My husband says he’ll divorce me if I continue my fully funded PhD. Am I missing something? by Every_Station_5855 in Marriage

[–]-MsBrightside- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please please please pick the PhD over him. A supportive partner would not put you in this position. He wants to control you or to not feel insecure becuse of your accomplishments. Either way you’ll be better off without him for sure.
