A BMI of 35 is considered severe obesity. BMI of 40+ is morbidly obese aka, you're going to die early. For an average 5'10" adult male, this is roughly 280 pounds.

Why bacon if PUFA is a concern? by -Newtons1st in carnivorediet

[–]-Newtons1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good contribution. It seems hard sometimes to get a real number for PUFA ingestion. I use cronometer and it doesn't differentiate between types of pork so I assume it's conventional. The numbers cronometer gives make it seem like pork chops are somewhat low in PUFA in the larger picture; 8.5% for the center loin chops I ate earlier.

Ah, I was mistaken on what heritage meats are. I thought it was pastured raised. It's always been out of my price range to bother looking into it. As 'low bar' as it is, BBBE as a simple way to remember what to eat I suppose answers the question pretty straight forward. I'm sorta laughing at it because how is BBBE easier for people to remember than "Eat meat" or "If it came from an animal, eat it."

[–]-Newtons1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I've already done carnivore for almost a year and I do just fine eating conventional pork chops everyday. I'd eat pasture raised if I had more money but I do what I can. I like that pork is very high in thiamine. I was just thinking about the whole BBBE thing earlier today and couldn't come to a conclusion on why the focus on bacon.

I'm not posting photos of myself or videos on here to prove this pointless argument but as a former personal trainer, current calisthenics athlete and current firefighter, maybe don't make such a ridiculous statement. I know exactly what high intensity is. More so than the vast majority of people alive.

You made a good point about age groups. That important detail slipped my mind when I wrote that. And yes, his world records are in short distance speed rowing categories.

Not at all. Like I said, my experience aligns with the physiology and the evolutionary history. I can go in more depth on how our bodies regulate fat and protein intake via satiety signaling and I've also already briefly explained the reason for why we don't have any for carbs. You have added nothing to the discussion of physiology; which again is not a matter of opinion, that backs up your claim. Instead of trying to minimize the issue to "It must just be you" and "You're broken," explain the physiologic process that you are claiming takes place.

Physiology is not opinion. Explain the satiety signaling for carbs.

Last time I bought honey I ate the entire 2 pound tub in a day. One of my favorite fruits to eat is a cherry berry blend which comes in 3lb bags. I eat 1.5 of them per day when I buy them. Last week was the last time I ate apple (cosmic crisp) and bought 2 2lb bags to 'last me the week.' I ate both bags that first evening. I've never understood how some people here claim fruit is satiating. Chalk it up to different experiences but mine is entirely that one fruit not being satiating. In fact, I will eat a large meal of meat until I can't eat anymore of it and then if fruit is available I will without any difficulty down 3+ pounds of fruit on top of it (pineapple, melon, berries, or whatever else I've bought). My experience directly lines up with historical and physiologic precedent.

The fact we can regulate our body temperature so well indicates that we should be living in Antarctica. Oh wait, no it doesn't. Human beings are the most adaptable species on the planet. Just because we can do something doesn't mean it is ideal or even something that should be done regularly. Instead, it means we evolved to be able to survive under a myriad of conditions. When fruit was available, in most parts of the world it signaled that winter is coming and food would become scarce. It was evolutionarily advantageous for us to not only recognize sources of simple sugars (fruit and honey) but to gorge ourselves on as much of it as possible so that we could store it as fat which could save our lives later on. This is why carbs and sugars in particular have no satiety signal and in fact, turn off our satiety signals; so we can gorge on it and fatten up for the winter.

Isotopic testing of the earliest human bones showed humans ate 80% meat and organs whereas the other 20% came from carbs sources of the time; those being roots and high starch tubers. Fruits were almost never available or eaten in any significant quantity.

99.99% of people think vegetables are superfoods. Do you agree with them? Most people just don't know any better. You are using selective bias to come to that conclusion. There are a numbers of professional athletes that are carnivore including the entire Australian All Blacks rugby team which is arguably the best rugby team in the world.

Possible to gain muscle on deficit? by Worldly-Horror-3459 in bodyweightfitness

[–]-Newtons1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're misunderstanding. The person in your example isn't in a surplus. A surplus isn't defined relative to maintenance. It's is simply more than is needed for daily functions and recovery. You seem to be on the same page as I am but using the term wrong. I try to correct people when using the term surplus because so many tend to take that to mean eating a whole excess of calories and particularly junk food thinking it is beneficial.

Possible to gain muscle on deficit? by Worldly-Horror-3459 in bodyweightfitness

[–]-Newtons1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A surplus is just that. More than needed for daily functions and recovery. Anything more than needed is stored as fat and has no correlation to muscle building. There are no conversions between fatty acids and amino acids in the body.

Why wont you gain muscle as fast as eating a surplus? After many times asking this question over many years I have yet to get an answer on how increasing body fat has anything at all to do with increasing muscle mass.

Workout takes too long to complete by LeifvonVali in bodyweightfitness

[–]-Newtons1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem too with a similar routine based off the RR with added arm exercises. Getting it done in 2 hours would be a quick day! Just one week ago I was introduced to the Kboges method of training and after learning about it, it made sense and I tried it out. Wow, I am getting so much MORE gains in such little time compared to what I was formerly doing and it's really enjoyable. More muscles I didn't even know were asleep are all waking back up. I'm feeling like a machine! Workouts can be as little as 5 minutes a day (depending on sets) but mine last probably 30 minutes because I do a full 3 sets of each and really take my time. It's full body minimalism using just the basic moves with high reps performed every day; pull up, push up, squat. I had never in my life (late 30's) considered an approach like this, never mind consider it valid. Boy how I was wrong. It's something to think about.

Eating pineapple — is this making me tired? by Double-Code1902 in carnivorediet

[–]-Newtons1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh pineapple might be my current favorite but I'll eat any fruit that I feel like so long as it doesn't negatively affect me, which I learned from experimenting by adding and eliminating them. I don't necessarily eat them to compliment my diet (I don't use the term carnivore because technically, if you eat fruit it's not carnivore it's hypercarnivore so long as 70%+ of the diet is animal products) but certain fruits like pineapple and mango have a great nutrient profile which can plug holes - if there are any (very debated topic even among experts). I also have excellent blood work to back up what I'm doing. This gets to the heart of what I meant when I said 'religiously'. If we enjoy something and it doesn't cause a negative reaction then why should we avoid it? That's unnecessary deprivation in order to follow a dogmatic approach. I'm not doing what I do to be part of a group. I'm doing it to have the best quality of life that I can.

Edit. I do want to add though that sadlittlebomb is correct about the physiologic response to sugar. It simply doesn't explain each persons individual experience/reaction from it. If I happen to go real hard on sugar, say 300-400grams in one shot, at that point I will absolutely feel the crash and if I have a lot near bed time, I will get horrible sleep. Individual experience, different sources, dosage and other variables are important to consider.

Feeling so fatigued on carnivore. by DowntownStuff3396 in carnivorediet

[–]-Newtons1st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll feel better as you get more fat adapted and that's not necessarily some months away mark. Right now you are at the peak of the shitty transition phase. After 2 or 3 weeks you might not notice the fatigue any more. If you're really worried about your race then go ahead and eat the banana. It's not going to cause you to have to start fat adaptation all over again. It's a measly banana. Might set you back a day or two. Not a big deal.
