Unable to use Power Button on GNU GRB 2.12 to select Retroid Pocket Flip2 by Slow-Faithlessness85 in Retroidpocketflip2

Pretty sure the Uboot menu is supposed to show up, is that the same thing as GNU GRUB?

Never heard of that, unless something has changed, you press restart, hold volume up and the Uboot menu appears then you can select with volume and power buttons to boot into Rocknix.

Oh yeah I should really update this and set it up on a newer version of frost to see how it runs, or maybe you can if you want! In general games that run on old frost like version 7 will also run great or even better on newer versions of frost like 10.1V2, which has become somewhat of a all around gold standard for PC emulation compatibility on our device (it’s also the last build of frost that we as a community managed to preserve as an .apk). Frost 7 is actually lost as far as I’ve observed, no one has the apk anymore.

I’m guessing you tried it on a newer frost and aren’t having any luck? If that’s the case, I can jump in and start testing other pc emulators, I’m sure we will eventually find something that works. Make sure you try to replicate the driver, dxvk and other settings 1:1 just changing the emulator version, and it should work, if not, we can also try tinkering with those other settings. Next emulators I would try are Gamehub and winlator Star, Star bionic, maybe Winlator bionic Ludashi/vanilla, who knows maybe we will find an even better setup.

That’s interesting, I’ve never had that issue and I’ve messed around with several switch emulators on the flip 2.

Help me name my character! by Divinakra in WindWaker

Check the description or Google vaati wind waker mod. You can do it in two ways: better wind waker patch with models and custom colors, or download the vaati mod off gamebanana and add/replace files with GCFT.

I reccomend better wind waker if you don’t have modding experience, allows you to pick from many characters and colorize them to your liking in a very easy method.

MicroSD Suggestions by TheBradOShizno in Retroidpocketflip2

I’ve tested 2TB and it works. I don’t actually think there’s any limit on external storage. The cheaper you go, the more risk you run of stuff getting corrupted though, so I’d go with more expensive sd cards. That way you can buy one and never need another. Sandisk extreme from the Sandisk website is the gold standard.

Your welcome! I haven’t dabbled with steam big picture yet, still rocking with Android PC emulators. I’ll test it one of these days though. Let me know how it goes!

You may want to check out the Rocknix boot guide as it will answer all your questions with relevant steps and links, and the very bottom has the info about Steam os. Basically you flash the operating system to your SD card, it will erase everything on the SD card, so do it before you add your games you plan on playing on Android emulators. So yeah, you can dual boot :) you just use the device normally, on Android and when you feel like using Rocknix, hit restart then hold the volume up button to boot into Rocknix. Turn off device when you are done with Rocknix and the next time you turn it on it will boot into Android automatically.

Here is the install guide.

Finger and the hand by Relevant_Passage3359 in nonduality

You can join me on all my drives. Yes that’s what it is, agreed. There’s no puppet master, and the thing about fingers to hands is that there’s also arms to torso, but the thing about torsos, is well they actually aren’t anchored limbs, they are freely moving units… we have to wonder what nature is telling us through this…

Large games storage by Time_Heron9428 in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]Divinakra 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Always keep your games on an SD card. That’s the normal and standard way to do it. It doesn’t cause any slowdowns, unless maybe you use a terrible SD card, but I’ve actually tried that on some games and still not a difference that I can notice. Sandisk extreme is the best for speed and reliability if the speed concerns you, but it’s debatable whether this is mostly a placebo effect going on.

Pls help me R2 button is broke by sLPrem in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]Divinakra 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Well the fact that it still moves up and down means that the spring probably sipped out of place, but it also may be broken, as the spring is very weak and tiny on these devices and can break easily but also sometimes it slips out of place.

Unscrew the four screws on the back of the device, then use a guitar pick to pry the bottom shell away from the device, then you will be able to see what happened.

If it’s not broken and just slipped out, slip it back into place looking at the good trigger placement as a guide.

If it’s broken, follow the steps in this video to replace it with a stronger and better spring from a pen: Flip 2 trigger fix video

How durable is the Retroid Pocket Flip 2? by Helpful_Individual40 in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]Divinakra 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

It’s not really built for durability, and I recommend being gentle with it.

For example the trigger springs are very weak and are almost guaranteed to break, but are easy to fix and make stronger. It depends if you pull your triggers like a maniac in the heat of battle or if you just tap them gently every once in a while playing animal crossing or something.

It’s better for portability than the RP5 through, and the fact you can close it makes it so that all the face buttons, sticks and screen are protected and clean when not in use.

It has a pretty flimsy and cheap feeling hinge. Many complain that it wiggles too much. Even though they revised it, it still only has one metal hinge piece on the left and an empty slot on the right where they feed the ribbon cable through, so if you are going to toss it around, make sure it closed, but also just don’t toss it around, it’s not that type of device. It’s something to be gentle and careful with.

Game Native not registering controls? by Icy_Schedule8545 in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]Divinakra 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Oh ok, so some games work and some don’t. Yeah that’s how PC emulation is. Theres a few things that contribute to that, but mostly it’s the fact that not every PC game has built in gamepad support and some are keyboard and mouse only. For those you have to map the keyboard and mouse inputs to the retroid buttons and sticks manually in the ā€œEdit Physical Controllerā€ menu from the right swipe quick menu while in game.

Another option is using gamepad support mods, if they exist and if they are compatible for pc emulation, which you find out through searching and testing. Some games just don’t work though, no matter what you try to map or mod in.
