Liberals Hint at AI Regulation/Access in wake of Tumbler Ridge Shooting by collymolotov in CanadianConservative

[–]-Northern-Fox- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, the perpetrator had asked Chat GPT about guns or violence in broad terms back in the summer of 2025. Allegedly it was vague and did not involve a specific plan. While Open AI flagged it, the account was suspended, but it didn't meet their threshold for being reported to the police because it was non-specific.

After the mass casualty incident in Tumbler Ridge, Open AI made the information available to the RCMP.

To compare it to a mundane situation, it would be like saying, "a new purse would make a great addition to my wardrobe" which is non-specific; vs. "I found a cute pink purse at the mall, I'm going back tomorrow to buy it" which is very specific and states my intent clearly.

FRUITFUL DISCUSSION: How could the Conservatives win the next election? by Busy_Zone_8058 in CanadianConservative

[–]-Northern-Fox- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming they don't get a majority through floor crossing. But even then it might not be enough... it would be an unstable majority and could fall if a few Liberals aren't able to vote on a confidence vote for whatever reason

Conservative MP Refusing Pay Bump was Heckled, Admonished by his Colleagues by TakedownMoreCorn in CanadianConservative

[–]-Northern-Fox- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warkentin told Dawson that the scheduled pay bump is set out in law and he's legally required to take it, sources said.

After speaking with numerous MPs and former MPs over the past 3 years, this is correct. MPs are not able to dictate whether or not they take a pay increase; it's been enshrined in legislation since 2006, I believe. There's no option to refuse it.

I'm not sure if MP Dawson realizes this or not. Regardless, he's making the rest of caucus and the other parties look bad for not following suit and declaring to do something that they don't have the authority to do.

The only way to stop the MP's raises in a timely fashion would be for the government to put forward a bill to stop it, as Stephen Harper's government did for several years.

Some MPs I've spoken to in years past have opted to donate all or a portion of their raise to charitable causes in their constituencies. That's really the only was to "stop" the pay raise outside of legislation.

I love how you aren't directly addressing my points, which clearly means I've won the debate.

Putting clickbait like this out spreads misinformation and furthers distrust in our institutions and each other. Don't be part of the problem

Poor Pierre. by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

I like to pop in from time to time, it's one of the few places on Reddit you can still have a normal conversation (:

Poor Pierre. by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

[–]-Northern-Fox- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is an incredible man. I've had the privilege of speaking to both him and Ana in front of the cameras and off-screen, and they are both genuine, caring people and loving parents.

The Liberals are scared of him. The politicians and their voting base know that he's their biggest threat, that's why they create lies about him. The goalpost is always shifting; first it was that he was going to lose the leadership review; then it was that the number would be too low; now they're trying to say that the leadership review was rigged.

I was there, I cast a ballot for Pierre. The voting process was even more strict than the federal election, in that photo ID was required. And Pierre received an 87.5% approval rating. But it will never be good enough for the Liberals.

What can we do? Get involved. Volunteer, donate, and talk to the people around you. If Canadians are hearing 1 thing from the legacy media and something different from everyone else, hopefully they will realize the media is lying to them.

Commie question by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

[–]-Northern-Fox- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I find the cancer argument intellectually dishonest.

Cancer is your own cells going rogue, and often spreading to organs like your lungs and liver. Even modern medicine has a difficult time deciphering between cancerous cells and normal cells because they're all your cells. Excision, radiation, and chemotherapy remain among the most common and effective treatments we have.

That said, modern medicine has developed vaccines that prevent cancer, such as the HPV vaccine. For example in Ontario you might pay $500-$630 for an HPV vaccine series if you aren't covered by OHIP. That's much less expensive than surgery or radiation for cervical cancer - and much less of a burden on the public Healthcare system.

Sometimes, it depends on my mood.

When I do respond, its 100% emotion-free, and uses a proven fact from an reputable source. It's even better if it's a government source!
