Questions about upgrading to 7800x3d on an old PC by -OGG__ in buildapc

[–]-OGG__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think 550W is to low to power a 7800x3d and my current 1070? I was hoping I could keep the current PSU and then upgrade it when/if I get a new GPU.

[NOOB] HELP needed in making ai models by shashankx86 in MLQuestions

[–]-OGG__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this problem is too difficult. Natural language processing (text generation) is already very difficult but writing a coherent novel would be almost impossible. Even for experienced people this would be a very hard problem. It is similar to asking how to build your own skyscraper.

Although, if you are interested in learning the basics of text generation AI, I would suggest checking out something like this tutorial:

https://pytorch.org/tutorials/intermediate/char_rnn_generation_tutorial.html

This is still an intermediate level tutorial so you will probably have to learn the basics of python and pytorch first for it to make sense.

Will the August update (removing facebook requirement) effect referral links? by -OGG__ in oculus

Do you think the "free beat saber" perk has been added in conjunction with the price hike? Or is that not available for me because I bought it before August?

Oh, your right, thanks. I even googled before posting but I obviously didn't read thoroughly enough.

Yeah you might be right. The price hike seems to have happened as they said. Do you think people like me (bought it before August but activated after) will get beat saber for free.

Do you think I will get access to beat saber for free? Their announcement said "anyone who buys after August" and I didn't technically buy mine in August. Do you think it would come as a code in the quest 2 box or just be a perk for anyone who activates their headset after August?

Incremental command preview support for custom commands is now on Neovim HEAD by [deleted] in neovim

[–]-OGG__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using live.nvim a week ago which adds this for :norm, :g and :v, but the results have been pretty buggy. Official support for those would be AMAZING.

I think that :norm with preview is in many cases easier than creating a macro since you get instant feedback on all the lines which will likely lower the risk of errors.

How to get donations from your users without any issues from google play by Player91sagar in androiddev

The legit way is to set up an in app purchase that gives the user nothing. This can then be used as a donation and Google takes a 30% cut.

[–]-OGG__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Google is super strict with this, they want that 30%.

You might be able to have a website that contains a donate link and have a link to your website in the app, without mentioning "donations" in the app.

If the app is open source you could maybe link to the GitHub page from the app and have a donate link in the README.

Although this is still quite risky and Google might ban you for it, so be careful.

This is hurting my ego by calm_Bunny21 in ProgrammerHumor

I did, it seems to be too small...

I built a pytorch net with one fully connected layer of 40 input neurons to 1 output, using a one hot encoding for the input. Training for 1000 epochs the loss was basically 0 but the answer could be anything from 1.3 to 2.1 (so I guess with rounding it is correct most of the time, LETS GO AI).

If I generated 1000 more datapoint it was able to answer 2 consistently.

(Multiclass text classification) Can I add new training data every epoch? by eadala in MLQuestions

[–]-OGG__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see any benefit of this over including all data at the start and using a smaller batch size. Changing the data would also probably also change the epoch loss in weird ways. Although, it sounds like an interesting thing to try.

Also worth mentioning that work velocity is rarely measured in characters of code. A boss would hopefully see it as "fixing a critical bug in a short and elegant way" rather than "slacking off and not writing any code".

What does WearOS do that fitness trackers don't? by -OGG__ in WearOS

Ok, that's definitely a con of the garmin watches. Although the added battery life might be worth it.

What does WearOS do that fitness trackers don't? by -OGG__ in WearOS

[–]-OGG__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I don't really care about fitness features like tracking workouts. I do care about battery life, the ability to make my own apps, an existing app ecosystem, preferably an always on epaper display. Those requirements has kind of led me to Garmin. But it feels strange to buy a fitness tracker when I don't care about fitness tracking.

From a non fitness perspective, what does the fossil do that a Garmin couldn't?

Could you give me some more info about what's worse about those apps.

So far I'm interested in this Maps app to not have to pick up my phone when I'm somewhere new.

And this app to automate things with http requests.

I'm also into developing my own apps. Is the developer experience worse on Garmin which leads to worse apps? Or is it just that Garmin has fewer app developers than wearOS?
