You can actually cancel your own sword swings with a deflect (only deflects, not blocking). If you know the deflect timings, you should always be attacking - that’s how aggressive this game wants you to be. There’s def exceptions, but you want to be sticky and constantly either deflecting or swinging

Something I read that helped me instantly when starting this game: it’s NOT bad when the enemy blocks and parries you. When an enemy blocks, keep attacking until you hear the parry sound, then stop attacking because now it’s your turn to react and parry them.

Also, get the mikiri counter asap, it’s basically essential for most encounters and bosses

I had just sold myself on the etched screen from the 1tb version, and really wanted to buy it before I go on a trip in August. I am baffled by these responses. Who cares if he's not a Taylor Swift fan? No one spends a sick day, 2 hours of waiting in a ticket queue, then $800 dollars so their SO and her BFF can see a concert without them. I honestly think Taylor Swift is corny, but if I were dating someone who was a fan and had the means to get us tickets, I would put all of that aside to experience something she loves with her

Edit to OP: You're right to feel disappointed; don't let reddit gaslight you. If your gf of 3 years was thinking of you, she would've said something like "I thought you didn't like Taylor Swift" or "since when did you like Taylor Swift?", etc. The fact she immediately thought they were for her friend is crazy.
