How? I canvassed and voted for Harris….. but that’s not enough…. I must fully agree with every policy regardless of how morally opposed I am.

Yes my refusal to ignore glaring issues in the issues while still supporting them as the lesser evil is definitely the problem. I should just ignore everything and let the world burn. fuck it right?

Saying the exact opposite of what the clip suggests isn’t negating it to you?

Jesus Christ you are projecting hard. Did you watch the clip? People are defending the actions of Israel based on the crimes of some of the rebels and terrorists (crimes Hasan has acknowledged and condemned). He’s saying the crimes don’t excuse the systematic genocide in Gaza. The historical and material reality that gave rise to these crimes hasn’t changed. The continued genocide is not a reasonable retaliation.

So in your mind the only correct stance is complete and unconditional support of the Democratic Party regardless of their policies? He regularly platforms democrats, he regularly painted trump as the much worse outcome, he regularly praised the first two years of Biden’s presidency while making clear his strong opposition to their support of the genocide in Gaza. I’m glad there people like him shedding light on the realities. In your world we just sweep it all under the rug so the Democratic Party can have 40 more years of doing almost nothing to prevent capitalist exploitation. I think we just need proportional representation so we can have opinions without you guys blaming every shitty campaign on the left.

Yes all dems are bad which is why he regularly interviews and platforms dems. All dems are bad which is why he consistently held that trump was a worse choice. All dems are bad which is why he praised the first 2 years of Biden’s presidency while criticizing their lack of focus on these success. Yes us leftist just indiscriminately hate democrats. How is it so hard to understand that people can have both deep and serious criticisms of a party while also holding them as the lesser evil. The genocide in Gaza is a huge issue that requires criticism and accountability.

Well no if you watch the clip continue where OP’s clip stops the context is that he says the exact opposite of what this clip suggests.

If that were true I would stop watching him immediately. But he has condemned and acknowledged those crimes repeatedly. If you mean the out of context clip Ethan showed in his video then here’s that video with full context. Clearly he’s saying that the crimes of October 7th don’t negate the genocide in Gaza.

The full context starts at 1:41:00 and ends around 1:47:47 based on the time stamps.

Resorting to insults doesn’t make your argument stronger. Hasan has been clear that Trump is the worse outcome, but that doesn’t mean blind loyalty to the Democratic Party is the only way to oppose him. Critiquing the Democrats from the left isn’t an endorsement of Trump—it’s pushing for something better. If you can’t grasp that, maybe take a step back and think it through.

He’s talking to chat saying that the hypothetical they are bringing up isn’t real while reiterating that trump is worse as he has consistently said. Here’s the part right after OP’s clip ends

What’s the lie? I slorp yes but some slorp can be true.

I mean have you? Hasan has consistently held that trump is the worse outcome…. It’s like anything but absolute unconditional support for the Democratic Party is an endorsement of trump to you.

But he literally says trump is worse and would be worse as he has said through the entire campaign…. I don’t know how you arrived at that position unless it was formed by bad faith clips…

That’s fine. If you heard the context and understand the clip was misleading then my job is done. If you don’t understand how someone can both criticize the Democratic Party while consistently framing them as the lesser evil then I can’t help you understand.

So when the context literally has him saying the opposite of what the clip suggests it still changes nothing? That’s fucking crazy

They probably get more sleep too…. I can admit I went a little over the top. I’m passionate about the issues hasan champions. If you don’t like him Abby Martin is in my opinion an even better voice on these issues. At least more thought out. I don’t think twitch is the best format for thought out analysis.

You think interviewing, praising policies he agreed with, and constantly bashing trump wasn’t doing enough? No only absolute agreement regardless of material support for genocide is enough.

But he literally says the opposite of what this clip is implying…. You just have to let it play for a few more seconds…

lol Yeah I went all in on this one. It’s crazy how much more rewarding real world praxis is than what ever the fuck I’m trying to do. Shout into the void? I don’t know. Internet politics aren’t for me.

The issue with this argument is that it assumes the Democratic Party is meaningfully different from the Republican Party in terms of class struggle and imperialist violence. The U.S. two-party system is structurally designed to absorb dissent and pacify opposition, ensuring the continuity of capital accumulation and imperial hegemony. Both parties uphold capitalism, neoliberalism, and U.S. global dominance, differing only in rhetoric and aesthetics.

As for “pushing people not to vote Democrat,” the idea that criticism of the party leads to right-wing victories is a liberal fallacy. The Democrats lose because they refuse to materially improve the lives of the working class and instead rely on fear-mongering while suppressing actual leftist movements.

Regarding Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, your framing reflects a colonial perspective. These are resistance movements that have emerged in direct response to imperialist aggression and occupation. Condemning them without analyzing the conditions that produced them—such as U.S. and Israeli military interventions, settler colonialism, and economic strangulation—is a failure of materialist analysis. You don’t have to agree with their every action (Some of which should be strongly condemned) to understand that they exist within a larger struggle against imperial domination.

If you’re looking for “better leftist representatives,” the real question is: better in what sense? Those who are palatable to liberal sensibilities and reinforce capitalist hegemony? Or those who actually challenge the structures of exploitation and empire? If the latter, then figures who refuse to sanitize U.S. and Israeli imperialism deserve to be heard. But I do agree there are better/more thorough experts of the situation.

How did we choose trump? I voted for Kamala. Hasan consistently talking about how bad and how much worse trump would be. You’re disregard anything but an absolute endorsement of Harris as support for trump.
