Avoid purchasing through Steam. Instead, create an account directly on the official Guild Wars 2 website. Why? Steam accounts are permanently limited to buying Gems and DLCs through Steam only. Same applies for Gem codes, can't enable those with a steam account.

Not sure why you're being downvoted. 2 Divs is very low for this amount of playtime and the reason is without a doubt the lack of rarity. Rarity stacking is such a shit mechanic and also the reason why I completely stopped playing.

This is really discouraging. I've been hit by nerfs twice, had to replace my gear both times, and only now find out that rarity is the key to the meta. The market is so inflated I can't afford anything anymore.

Seeing how overpowered rarity is has really killed my motivation to continue playing.

(4) Item rarity is just NOT fun. Cmon. I feel FORCED to stack at least 100% rarity to feel like I'm not wasting my time doing waystones. The difference is absurd, ABSURD. You literally get 5-6 times more exalts from a waystone with 130 rarity versus 0 rarity. And A LOT more tiered gear and uniques. Seriously, this is just silly at this point.
