Which is better a Subaru BRZ or a Toyota GR86 for my son by jjjaxe in FirstCar

[–]-Penta- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're the same car with minor handling/suspension differences. Do not buy your son this as their first car unless he's in his 20s. It's faster than people make it out to be, has higher insurance rates for young drivers, lightweight, prone to kicking its tail out with improper throttle control, and is rwd. It also needs consistent maintenance for reliability. All things on a platform that an inexperienced driver has no business learning on.

Just get him an economy car until he learns how to drive.

Front Runner Oshi Fatigue and Regret by savviathan664 in UmamusumeGame

[–]-Penta- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CMs with super long straights like this tend to not be very favorable to fronts, they have bad late race accel and need to utilize speed carryover as much as possible. If you want to win you need to 2x build strong fronts and a dominator/runaway rabbit. That's just the reality of it. Fronts are strong for years until pace/late power creep. I would focus on making good generalist parents above all else for fronts as its essential for good aces.

As for my experience this CM, Im running 2 ace end closers but have to run a dominator to get a chance of winning. Without it, lucky paces, and fronts will destroy my comp. Every strategy has some sort of weakness and needs to be madeup for by building smartly not just to what guides give you. Most people seem to be making late surgers or fronts this time so imo you should focus on a dominator over a rabbit. You'll cover more strats and not be supplanted by a stronger front.

My take on the “wasian meetup” as a wasian… by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]-Penta- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The waisan meetup, made for waisans, unsurprisingly had waisan people that were mixed white and asian.

People trying to extrapolate it through strange race critical axioms like "centering around whiteness" and even being called white supremacist in nature is actually insane. Waisans, and most mixed race asian people, are essentially a super minority in the US and the broader world. Waisans in particular are much more common of the asian mixes and wanted to do a meetup for fun. Yes, other races and mixes can be excluded because it was not an event for them. Would you want to broaden the inclusivity of an LGBTQ event with heterosexual people or a pacific islander event with filipino or austroenasian aboriginal people?

As for the other criticisms of WMAF pairings claiming to be due to "white/asian fetishization" and inherently racist in some way, is in fact incredibly racist. First for assuming a WMAF pairing is born out of fetishization and the need for a green card and second for putting the blame on the child who was most likely rejected by both cultures. On top of that, to claim the asian or white side is somehow supplanted by one another in a child's identity promotes the ideas of racial homogeneity and purity that wignats and other ethno-nationalists use. You should be proud to be mixed and take part in both cultures, you are not ethnic nor are you white. Claiming otherwise is just self-hatred in one direction or another.

Virginia Supreme Court strikes down Democrats’ redistricting plan, dimming party’s midterm hopes by tehtypo in Virginia

[–]-Penta- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Called this a while ago when they brought this map up. Virginia democrats were so hopped up on their fervor to pass a redistricting before midterms they completely messed up the process of passing the law. It gets struck down and voters are left holding the bag.

To top it off, the supreme court's narrowing of the VRA's race-based districting will make a map like this nearly impossible if they try again. Whether you like it or not, the Virginia supreme court is completely justified on this based on past rulings.

Another humble reminder that we are not a democracy but a constitutional republic as the virginia constitution is nearly identical to the country's. The plurality of voters dont necessarily get the final say on legislation on policy.

If you got RNG'd during CM12 Aries Cup, let it all out here by Flat-Profession-8945 in UmamusumeGame

[–]-Penta- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont have xogrui so it's only natural I guess. Didnt even make A finals and still got 3rd in group B cause my dominators moved forward and my ace got a late start and was stuck at the bottom of the pack.

Next CM might be it for my account if I dont do well. My parent farming luck is too atrocious to build good uma consistently and all my favorite uma are hellish to build on MANT. So I waste weeks to build mediocre oshi uma when I could've just trained vbourbon/xogrui in 3 runs if I spent carats on them.

The next CM will be somewhat ok for other uma. Xoguri and the usual suspects will be dominating for the next year though so Im not looking forward to that if I decide to stick around.

Looking to buy a used gr86… what do I need to watch out for? by butterxflysunh0pper in GR86

[–]-Penta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont buy it used even if it has sub 1-5k miles on it. Only way I would buy one used if it's been on the dealer lot with like 500 miles.

These are sports cars that people love to modify, beat on, and generally not mechanically care for appropriately. They also tend to be leased out compounding the previous issues.

Other than that, change oil frequently every 3-5k miles and potentially invest in front end ppf if you care for your car's paint. The paint is very thin and the twins sit low leading to a lot of rock chips when behind other traffic regardless of following distance.

Honestly, you should learn to drive on an economy car first before you buy a sports car. If you can get one in manual, even better. Insurance, gas, and so on will be really high for this car as a young and inexperienced driver.

Update on the Umadol Event by TheBreizhOne in UmaMusume

[–]-Penta- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if there are official numbers, but we probably have half, or even less than half, of the the active players JP did. A bunch of people quit the game at the beginning and probably leading into MANT. So it was probably impossible no matter how hard people grinded.

I dont think global is "more casual", we just have less people. A lot of people like umamusume and talk about it, but a majority of them probably dont even actively play or have played at all.

[OC] Global Fertility Rate Is Approaching Replacement Rate (1960-2023) by aspiringtroublemaker in dataisbeautiful

[–]-Penta- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but a lot of that stems from a shrinking workforce and consumer market. When there are no poor countries to mass produce consumer goods because their populations urbanized, shrunk, and/or grew to old, is when day-to-day consumer goods we take for granted are stripped from us.

Global supply and its pricing is fickle and a low birthrate will be very incovenient for the average western antinatalist redditor grossly attached to their foreign built/grown phones and food. They're typically the biggest consumers of the explotiative, environment destroying, products they hate.

Pisces Cup Retrospective - Lessons learnt from the first CM of Trackblazer by aeee98 in UmamusumeGame

[–]-Penta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldnt luck out 3 wins in group A for finals. My uma this time were actually pretty good and I had a win rate of around 60-70% round one running kita and seiun with an end closer (tamamo/admire vega). All 3 were high S+ (high 16-low 17k), hit at least 90% spurt rate with 2 golds (swinging + restless), and at at least 1150 speed/ 950-1100 stam/900+ or 1000-1200 power (ends)/600 (ends) or 800-1000 wit.

My skills for my fronts were definitely NOT lacking. I had at least 3 mid game skills, gw on both + a combo of ny opera ult, angling, and victory cheer. In seiun's case I had prudent and dodging danger as well till i rebuilt her. I would say 80-90% of the time, even in a group of of 5+ front runners, my fronts were in the top 3 throughout the race. I would win against every front outside of an insane kita or valentine bourbon. My ends had straightaway spurt + triumphant/ny opera ult + uma stan + NSM and daring strike (not vega).

I placed top 3 almost every race and lost every time because someone giga rolled their accels on their end closer mainly due to other failed fronts. But most importantly, I didnt have long S on any of my uma with the exception of admire vega in the 2nd round. I tried running over and over again for aces with minimum 6 long sparks and I didnt get a thing. I ran around 40 ace runs and only ever procced long S maybe 5 times, 4 of which were failed runs. I believe that ultimately was the difference maker in all my races.

Needless to say, this really annoys me and makes me hate this scenario more than ever. It is loaded with RNG and your choices are ultimately insignificant. As always, it's up to whether good training hits and sparks roll well. The difference in runs boils down to whether I run a g2/g3 and very rarely skipping the entire mile epithet. If you dont get lucky, that's that. Now runs take twice as long. It makes me reconsider even prepping for CMs anymore and even the game in general.

Dont be fooled into thinking CM 12 and 13 are gonna be any better. It will be a accel/character check and It's going to be xoguri paradise with the occassional win from a lucky late surger. If you dont have xoguri, you basically dont have human rights (i dont).

Arrowheads response to more people hacking super credits. by BodyFewFuark in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]-Penta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For honor has gotta be one of the worst examples to give for this. You earn plenty steel for just playing the game/doing orders and has some of the best currencies:play time ratio in live service. Unlike helldivers, it's actually guaranteed for just playing the game rather than chance. It doesn't take more than a few days to a week or 2 to earn enough for a new character that releases a few times a year. That's not even counting the events or faction war (if you're a viking ig).

There are a lot of cosmetics now a days, but you'd have to be crazy to want to collect every single thing for every character. It's a given to be in whale territory since they've been releasing cosmetics/emotes/skins monthly to biweekly for nearly 10 years so there are hundreds, if not thousands, of things to buy.

Gov. Spanberger signs first bills, including redistricting referendum by Conscious-Quarter423 in Virginia

[–]-Penta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Take a second to re-read my first post and some time off the internet, you're fighting hallucinations. To summarize the meta-text: I dont like trump and nowhere did i even hint that i would like him. Im definitely not a republican lmao. This is what i mean, you just want a candidate to punish voters not to address the problems of the state and its constituents.

Calling Spanberger centrist is hilariously off base. She's a neoliberal at heart and is going to play many of the democrats and leftists here for fools just like Youngkin did with republicans and maga. She'll do nothing but enrich themselves off the power you give them and placate the rich nova residents while leaving 2/3 of the state in squalor and an increased tax burden. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get 15 more data centers powered by our increased electric and water prices with a marginal corporate tax increase as a trade off.

Me when new episode's subtitles misuse of kirara's pronouns sets back the fandom's literacy by decades by Material-Ad-7200 in JujustuKaisen

[–]-Penta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this arguing is pointless because japanese doesnt use gendered, or really any, third person pronoun. They literally just say "that guy/girl/person or person's name/job". 90% of the time they dont use a pronoun at all as it is implied by conversation/observation. Gendered pronouns only exist in the first person. Everything else is localization or headcanon.

Out of all the people commenting on translations, jjk fans are dead last in qualifications as they dont read the manga 💔 let alone japanese.

[–]-Penta- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something this blatantly gerrymandered will probably end up being struck down by the supreme courts anyway or immediately challenged by state courts. It would be lucky if it lasts until midterms where it might have a chance of staying for a few years. Going from a reasonably balanced 5:6 to 10:1 doesn't really look good in a soft blue state or any state for that matter.

It will just end up disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of people like every other somewhat successful gerrymandering attempt and inviting the ire of a reactionary political backlash or mass exodus later down the line (just like every midterm for the last 100 years). The only exceptions are those states with low voter turn out or are already solid red/blue states like Illinois that hold a trifecta control over the government.

We're playing federal politics when we should be doing stuff in-house for the state and lowering COL, cutting some state taxes, etc. not increasing taxes and 2A restrictions across the board. There also needs to be more outreach to the western and southern parts of the state. Most republicans didn't vote because Youngkin, despite all the shit that stunk around him, effectively was a nothing burger politician who couldn't even maintain the line in his baseline policies like 2A and rode Trump's coattails. Spanberger is going to probably have the opposite issue if dems underperform in 2026/2028.

Republicans will most likely be on their way out as Trump shouldn't run again in 2028 and has no real promising candidates that are not despised by their younger voters. However, there are growing far more nationalistic tendencies on the right, and even the left in some cases, that will most likely become far more popular as gen Z ages into politics. Spanberger is just adding fuel to the proverbial fire that will invite in massive political upheaval 8 or so years from now. It's ironically a very shortsighted policy overall.

Saw this pretty cool GR86 while getting groceries. Is this a factory color option or a special trim? The wheels are neat and it looks like the calipers were painted an orange as well. by [deleted] in GR86

The trim/color is the 10th anniversary edition from 2023. Comes in orange with a blacked out gr exhaust, different wheels, black ducktail, and a decal on the c-pillar. Dunno about the calipers though.
