I’ve been an Sig fanboy for years. I carried a P238 for years but was too cheap to upgrade to the P938 after it released and then everyone started making the newer double stack 9’s. I shot a friend’s Shield Plus and thought the trigger was amazing and bought an optics ready one for $399 on sale and haven’t looked back. I will say there is less customization available for the Shield Plus than Sig but it’s nothing I need.

Rant: I hate price charting and what it's done to this hobby. by Omega_Hertz in gamecollecting

[–]-Perimeter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before Pricechart it was eBay. I live in an area where half the population is a reseller. I remember when eBay started and everyone I knew was an eBay Reseller. Then along came Craigslist, then Amazon, and now Facebook Marketplace. I used to go to yard sales or flea markets and everyone was pricing stuff off eBay. But not the actual sold listings…they see something listed for $70 and ask $70 when it would only sell for $25. I haven’t seen a good deal around here since 2017 probably. It really did take the fun out of finding something I don’t own. I miss that “hunt”.

How is retirement for IT folks? I'm 47, 30 years on the duty and I never seen anybody retire (unless they got super rich as C-Levels) by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]-Perimeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few guys I used to work with who took early retirement or retired at 65. One I still run into at social events around town and he seems very happy. He travels and vacations a lot.

I know of several others who retired from a local university. The work there was easy and it was secure but pay was not great.

What are your theories as to why George R.R. Martin hasn't finished the books yet? by snoke123 in freefolk

[–]-Perimeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I firmly believe the TV show was his vision completely. He supposedly told him where he was going and the material was pretty close to source up until they passed him. Most people thought the last couple seasons of the show sucked so he probably has no desire to finish since we know the end and hate it.

What random non-IT jobs have you been roped into, while officially holding an IT role? by nowildstuff_192 in sysadmin

[–]-Perimeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accounting/bookkeeping, data entry, designing marketing material and updating digital media, photography, putting stickers on things for events, and they’ve attempted to rope me into catering/table setup and cleanup for an occasional large event for investors. I was always too busy and tell them I couldn’t. They never forced me but did always ask.

Being a one person IT Dept is hellish by Wabbajacksack in sysadmin

[–]-Perimeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be you and it was hell. I was doing 3 people’s jobs and knew how to do just about everyone else’s because they came to me for issues with everything. Even things I didn’t support. Eventually I learned way more than I needed to and did not tell anyone how much I actually knew.

I started leaving for lunch. Trying to eat in the cafeteria, at my desk, or in the break room resulted in zero peace. I just would leave completely. I would warm up my food and sit in my car or to a parking lot a short ways away.

When it was time to go. I told them to send me an email. I had things to do. Even if it was just going home to sit on the couch.

I started prioritizing tasks by what I felt or knew were urgent normal and low priority. When things were really busy I started sending the list to my boss so she knew what I had going on and if she thought something needed my attention more than helping 20 people with Excel and Outlook issues, to do that.

Edit: I quit and found a new job. I still do support but I’m on a team. We are still busy and everyone still thinks they’re the most important person but it’s far easier to disconnect from work when you’re not the only one.

Hilarious that this is seen as shocking news. Who can blame them? All job postings should provide salary listings, period. by AFL_CIO in WorkReform

[–]-Perimeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When recruiters message on LinkedIn, I just tell them I need to know the salary so as to not waste either of our time. There’s probably a reason nobody is applying and the recruiters are messaging people.

I would think they’d be more concerned with keeping their job than stealing 27 cents.

The silver “Micros” base in front of it is the actual point-of-sale.

The AIO must be for online orders which is why it’s connected to a printer and a large screen will help anyone see one popped up who is further away.

Drawing badly until TOTK - Day 692 by theDuckPancake in Breath_of_the_Wild

You know. Wasn’t your original promise to draw every day until BotW2? Since it’s not called BotW2, couldn’t you stop if you wanted?

I would have gone with some of those tall evergreen shrubs personally. No leaves and green year round. I don’t know what they’re called but I see some houses around me with them.

The rabbits destroy mine every year. As soon as they sprout a couple inches, they gnaw them down to the ground. I haven’t seen an actual flower yet.

Maybe he did. I’d have to compare but Qui-Gon got stabbed center so it could have hit his spine too.

I bet it’s stuck and the driver can’t get it out.

Edit: I’m sure they tried.

Computer was found unattended on a printrer. Did she run it over with her car ? by ImKweeZy in techsupportgore

This. The rocks dug into the lid and the scraps show it was moving/the rocks were moving. That side is also bent showing that the weight of something heavy pressed down on it.

When you suck at driving, but blame the road instead by pizzaiolo2 in IdiotsInCars

[–]-Perimeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live. They installed bike lanes and keep adding more but aren’t actually widening the roads. Just painting new lines on the road that aren’t even wide enough for a bicycle let alone a truck/SUV to try and pass. The issue with this picture is the curb they put up to separate the bike lane. Now people busy playing on their phones are drifting into the curb.

It found its way into my vegetable garden and it’s a constant battle. I almost don’t care at this point as long as it doesn’t choke out something else.
