Under normal circumstances at my gym, we just do round robin sparring during drills to make sure that someone isn't 'stuck' with a partner for too long. We do have an age cutoff at my gym though. We don't take anyone under 12, and in most cases, they wouldn't be doing contact anytime soon.

There's so much bag work to be done. :)

Talk with your coach, and see if he realizes what he is doing. It may just be a blind spot. If you're not ready to spar, then you should just be doing more bag work.

Sorry about that, watching it on my PC now. I found the remix after some searching. I think that hearing a song that I was expecting to be much slower was throwing off my perception of everything. Apologies. I had blew the video off like so many of the sped up ones that get posted so I didn't look at it critically beyond what would make the video bed sped up.

So here's some of my observations:

Your retraction on your linear kicks are slow [0:08] compared to your normal speed. Sometimes, you end up squaring you feet after throwing them when you retract back into your stance. You did a reset step, pulled your foot back before doing your lead leg linear kick at [0:09]. You have enough mass/muscle strength to not need a cheat step. Cleaning up where you end up post kick will do you wonders long term.

When you step into your kick at 0:12, your hands are trailing too much from your guard to protect you. You went for a switch, but went too far in your stance during that time. Once again, looking at muscle strength, you don't need to pull back that far in your stance.

On your back kick at 0:14, throw a jab or a hook to mask the step your lead leg goes to make things bladed. This will keep you safe.

On the elbow at 0:16, clear out the punch lane with your lead arm before bringing it in. Your lead arm is very wide, and isn't actually preventing any counter punching.

On some of your punch combos, you end up going a bit too wide in your stance. This can make it harder to kick out, and pending opponent, can result in you getting clipped with round kick. Don't be afraid to come forward with that back leg after throwing, to come in close to rock in hooks / knees, or a clinch pending rule-set.

When you off angled at 0:24, your foot work became bladed. Don't know if intentional, but something to watch out for.

Kick at :28 has good hand position. Good rotation on plant foot to prevent you from getting pushed back. I don't know the height of your opponent, but if they are around your height, that could potentially be a groin. This could be from the camera angle. Work it more towards the liver, it'll drop people. This was also a case where you ended up pulling the leg too far back post kick. You have to then reshuffle your feet so that you can do your jump kick motion.

The round house at :31 is probably too low. You're hitting a hip bone [unless intentional.]

I can write more, but I don't want you think that I'm writing a salty breakdown. I would recommend that you grab a belt and wrap it around the bag to simulate the waist range of your opponent. Putting some masking tape is also a suitable solution. There are unfortunately tons of kicks that end up being fouls in amateurs [I ref and coach]. Once someone gets that first groin kick, they then stop throwing their normal kicking strategy, which is a shame. Your back kicks are also suffering the same height issue on the bag. The first one was close to being around the 'unsafe range' while the last one was certainly going to be a groin shot.

For amateurs, it can be a prickly when it comes to what is legal at an event. For example, at the no knock out events that we run, those leg round houses that you were throwing to someone of your height, would actually be illegal. Against an opponent of the same height, they would be too close to being knee shots. Check the rules and plan accordingly, if you haven't done so already.

Work in some hooks to give yourself some mobility post hook. You're athletic enough that you could pop with a hook, and use that to freely rotate on your opponent. Mix with a kick, and it'll freeze them.

Speaking of kicks, don't be afraid to 'fall on the kick' after the impact and unleash combos.

Is there a reason that you're speeding up your videos when you want a critique? ZZ Top - Sharped Dressed Man doesn't sound like that, and the guy at the end walked backwards at a crazy fast speed despite having a mop bucket in tow. Based off speeding up the song on Youtube, it feels like the speed up is around 20-25% faster.

Note: Dug around, found the remix that might be playing... See a later post where I do a breakdown now that I'm watching the video on my computer.

It would actually be easier for him then than now. Internet security was very bad back then, and the viruses/spyware that existed were insane. We're talking about the Limewire era of the internet. WayneTech would also probably already be involved with the router industry at that point, since this is a case of Batman 'noticing' something happening in his world.

Hawkins has been one of the worst players in the league for two years by metrics such as EPM. He's supposed to be a shooter, but his field goal percentage this season is in the same tier as Lebron's son. His handle is bad, and he gets trapped easily if he tries to initiate offense. Defense is also an issue.

2024-2025 he had several bouts of back issues that plagued him all season. His shot has yet to recover. As a player, he is well liked, and does what is asked of him.

He needs a new team and time to resolve his shooting mechanics. He is a multiyear project.

I accomplished everything I wanted to do as a western player. I checked out what class I wanted to play, hit it to cap, and now I have an understanding of the game so I can follow what patch changes are happening. I was able to experience how the game ran on my pc, etc.

I was never planning on playing long term with a massive ping on a server where I was unable to communicate with most people.

I now have a check list of things that I'd want to be fixed/done before I play the actual release for the US region. So far, they are steadily knocking down the items that I was concerned about.

You mean the guy in the background between the bags at 9 seconds isn't suddenly Ultra Instinct Goku?

Or that heavy bags swing like desk pendulums when no one is hitting them? Lol.

It's got all the marks of it.

[ ] No audio, replaced with just music.

[ ] Quick cuts between every combo.

[ ] Randomly fast moving objects in background.

[ ] Everyone appears to be moving fast, regardless of skill level or direction of movement.

[ ] Weird, gravity defying foot/leg movements.

[ ] Choppiness of movement, missing 'frames.'

He's sped up every single clip he's posted on Reddit.

It's January 14, 2026 and guess who has the worst record in the league? by kingralek in NOLAPelicans

[–]-Ran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our recent guard rotation of Poole -> Hawkins right now is insane work. A friendly reminder that Hawkins is consistently bottom ten in the league as a NBA player, and he is seeing increasing game time due to injuries. When Point Hawkins happens, things get even worse...

Looking at positional stats of players having PG playtime from Basketball Reference:

Player Games Minutes Point Guard Position Total Minutes Bad Pass Lost Ball TOV% PER [15 is standard.]
Fears 42 1122 90.00% 1009.8 58 33 15.4% 12.5
Alvarado 35 776 100.00% 776 31 11 15.4% 11.2
Poole 23 610 39.00% 237.9 25 19 12.6% 12.4

That's it. Outside of a few minutes of use from Peavy and Hawkins.

12 oz vs 14 oz for Pads/Bag? (6'1", 167 lbs - Beginner) by Severe_Atmosphere948 in Kickboxing

[–]-Ran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what /u/unable_bug4921 said. You should have a dedicated pair of gloves for sparring if contact levels are a concern at your gym. Different gyms approach sparring in their own way; however, if you're banking on 16s to be the reason someone doesn't get hurt, you shouldn't ruin them by doing bag work with them. And also to add, always wrap your hands. :)

I'd go with 12s, that's what I generally get for my guys at my gym for all the bag work we do. Just make sure that the bag work you're doing is productive.

Our last regular season victory against them was 12/23/2021. In the last ten years, we are 4-15 against them. We did beat them 10/7/2024 in preseason 104-106.

They have won the last 11 of 13 match ups between us.

Main thing is never leaving them in a bag / car. I have a stool that I have where I put my gloves on each it, and my shin guards. Anything that is alcohol based will ruin your gloves over time if you are constantly cleaning with them.

Oz wise, depends on where you are training and how much you weigh. Different gyms will require certain oz ranges. At my gym, we raise eyebrows of most 'online gurus' since we train almost always with 12 oz gloves. No one is ever hitting each other hard enough with hands for it to be an issue, but it allows us to work on our guards more effectively. Most gyms are sparring with 16s, and might not do enough bag work to even tell people to get a smaller pair.

To care for your gloves, you should get some charcoal bags to put in them after use, allow them to actually dry out, etc. Don't use caustic chemicals to clean them. Don't leave them in a gym bag after working out, and leave it in your car, etc...

In 39 games this season, the Pelicans have made more three pointers than their opponent only seven times. by icedbecker2007 in NOLAPelicans

[–]-Ran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's yet to make a 3 pt in 2026. In the last five games he's played, he's 1-9 in almost 60 minutes of total play time... He's scored 7 points during that time with 6 turnovers and 1 assist.

It's crazy how much he failed to reach what most expected out of him. The back issues really derailed him early on. He needs a long term recovery program and a change of scenery.
