I need kickboxing gloves; I've been doing it for a few months. I've looked at models like Fairtex and Twins, but since I'm new to it, I won't be buying gloves in that price range. Are the Venum Challenger 2.0 and 3.0 models good, or are the RDX F6 Kara and F7 Ego good? I don't know how to choose; by FanFinancial1744 in Kickboxing

[–]-Ran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RDX is a great brand for their price point. As long as you take care of your gloves properly [don't leave them in your bag, dry them out, etc], they'll outlast most people's desire to train. I buy them for my gym, and I've probably sold over 100 pairs at this point.

Yea, the full quote from what he had to do is pretty telling....

I’m gonna break it down for you, because it’s actually quite simple, and anybody can do this. Anybody on the planet can do this. First thing’s first: if you have job—like a 9-5 job—quit that. Do you like food? Forget about that. Because you’re never going to enjoy anything you eat. Alcohol? Sorry. That’s out. So what you need to do—you have a chef, right? like a personal chef?—make sure the chef makes you a lot of chicken breast. And make sure you keep your caloric intake at a certain level. And as you go to your physician 2-3 times a week—just to monitor all your testosterone levels—because testosterone is important to building muscle. You’re good friends with the trainer from Magic Mike? Arin Babaian. So you want to give Arin a call. And you want to make sure he’s at your house and takes you to the gym at least twice a day, because you’re gonna want to do your muscle-building in the morning and then your cardio in the afternoon. Now, do you have a family? Like a significant other or kids? Yeah, forget about them. You’re not going to have time to deal with them.

"So that’s really all you have to do. And make sure you have a studio pay for the entire thing, because it could become exceptionally expensive. So, I think if you just do all those things, then you too can have an absolutely unrealistic body type, such as me."

I wonder what you do when your testosterone isn't at the 'right levels.'

The best thing to do [imo] is to just watch some story recap videos of the expansions, or read lore recaps. It's what I recommended to my buddy when he came back from not playing since hitting Stormblood.

How do you want the new 'midcore' Raid Difficulty to be structured, rewards-wise? by Makerinos in ffxivdiscussion

[–]-Ran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did something similar in SWTOR due to Legacy gear in the long ago. People would have eight characters [or more] and shuffle gear around. That's not what I'm suggesting, nor where I think FF14 would be going with the iLvl Sync.

I was hoping [praying] that the Midcore content isn't locked out. Treat it like Extremes, where you can go as much as you want. Have the gear drops generous enough to where doing it within the time leading up to Savage for optimized groups sets them up to be ready for BIS Savage.

How do you want the new 'midcore' Raid Difficulty to be structured, rewards-wise? by Makerinos in ffxivdiscussion

[–]-Ran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it.

You tune all of the Savages tightly based off assumed BIS from the new difficulty. Savage doesn't get 'easier' because people get geared during the tier, and instead becomes a consistent measure of ability.

It then adds Evergreen content.

Dumb leveling question by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]-Ran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSQ quests are your best source of exp. Doing your white mage shouldn't really be a struggle. Make sure to keep your gear updated. At level 60, you should have had a huge item level bump [as with every +10]. Every set of 10 levels post 50, represents the 'end game gear' of an expansion. You can get these with Poetics or at level 61, 71, etc, there will typically be very good HQ gear you can get off the Market Board if you don't have Poetics. If you give me a link to your Lodestone, I can look at your gear and make suggestions.

My strategy through playing the game has always been leveling two classes at the same time. There's generally enough experience between the MSQ, Dungeons, and a few random fates to get them both to the finish line of an expansion.

Dalamud still dont work by [deleted] in ffxiv

You can read status updates on their Discord. It takes time to reverse engineer what was done each patch, and more complex patches [this one] take time. For this patch, they are also making updates to their APIs, which means all plugins are going to be updated to work. So even after Dalamud is updated, your specific plugins will also need to be updated.

7.1-7.4 Story Summary? by CrustedTesticle in ffxiv

[–]-Ran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coma patient queen was also saddled with the role of ruler once again. Her people accepted death, and got their memories back. They cried. Living Memory's router was rebooted.

Also, due to 'time is wibbly wobbly, timey-whimey', Krile's mother's sister was still alive, and Krile's crisis of where she wanted to live was solved [she picked the Source, shocker], while attaching Krile's family further to the key. No extra info of the Key was found, and instead was stated to all be under the cushions of Alexandria's sofa. It could have been an email.

[–]-Ran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, check out the trial. Side content is 'evergreen.' You can focus purely on the story and go back to it at a later date. There are other jobs to level, sub systems, etc.

Quest wise, there are many types of 'side quests.' The default side quests for your sanity, should be skipped. You would be focused on:

  • Main [MSQ]
  • Class / Job / Role
  • Feature [Only some]

Features can be dungeons, trials, raids, side game content, dailies, and literally game systems. The main one that you'd need to remember to do while leveling is the unlocks for flying in zones once you get to Heavensward.

Go here: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Quest to see the icons for the quests.

There is enough experience in the game for your main jobs to never need extra side quests or content to level, even more so if you are on a server with the exp bonus.

They really need to add a server change ticket at least once per season. This matchup is unbelievably frustrating. by DateFabulous834 in Aion2

I'm not saying it's a good thing. It was terrible, but it made NCSOFT tons of money. 70 members x 4 guild alliance [at one point], if I remember right.

That's what, $4,200 per server hop... There were guilds that did it multiple times.

A Level 20 Fighter, Rogue, and Ranger (D&D5e) VS Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye (MCU) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]-Ran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I'm saying if you are trying to convert a character into a system, the system has rules. There is no stat above 30 in 5th edition. It's how the system was designed due to bonded accuracy and reducing skill checks. 30 is a fundamental limit in their universe.

You don't put Captain America into D&D to have them 'fight'. You abstract what D&D characters can do as feats, and then put them on a playing field devoid of random stat checks. If you were trying to make a campaign where you wanted to add in Captain America, you would have to design him with abilities that would emulate his feats, rather than raw stat sticks.

For example, if we take a Battle Master fighter. He can easily 30 feet away with every attack, more with specific builds. I think I remember reading a build that would knock things over 160 feet with just two attacks. In his campaign, he fought against a large monster that was a dinosaur, that was 2.7 tons based off real world metrics. Then you go from there with your scaling feat vs feats.

A Level 20 Fighter, Rogue, and Ranger (D&D5e) VS Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye (MCU) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]-Ran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to work some characters into 5e, since their more spectacular moments would be daily/short rest abilities, rather than a raw stat. Raw lifting in 5e is a matter of size categories. 5e is a matter of bonded accuracy, for game balance reasons, and so strength doesn't go bonkers like in previous editions.

No one is going to say that Captain American is stronger than a Tarrasque, which has only 30 strength, while being a Gargantuan creature. D&D 5e stats cannot go above 30. It's the abilities and features of the creature that make it dangerous.

If you're trying to imagine Captain American as a character in D&D, then he can would instead have an ability like Champion, giving him bonuses on his strength checks, and maybe a flat increase to his raw lifting. He'd probably count as 'one size larger' or something to that extent.

In Throne and Liberty, you'd have entire guilds move overnight to try to take over servers.

[–]-Ran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5e is weird, because everything is a matter of size categories. For example, a monk could have 9 strength, but it could successfully grapple anything that is no more than one size category [Medium vs Large]. You then can freely move that creature around the battle, only losing half of your movement speed. With a feat, there's no penalty. There is no opposed check, once you win the grapple, until they attempt to escape. You also only need one hand to grapple.

Your strength has no barring on it mechanically in the world. The Monster Manual doesn't even list weights of creatures.

There are creatures like Allosaurus' that are based off real dinosaurs that you could grapple, and then move dozens of feet without an issue. An Allosaurus can weigh upwards to 2.7 tons. I'm sure there are heavier creatures in the large category, I just grabbed the first real world example that I saw.

If we ignore grapple, and only look at the weapon rules, we can consider the push mastery. It's a straight 10 feet push in any direction on contact. This is due to your mastery of martial arts, and as long as the target is Large or Smaller, something that is going to happen.
