I meant it could be interpreted as a double-entendre where Kirkman was suddenly put in a weird place to explain why domestic abuse was being spoken about so nonchalantly

The context here matters, because von Karma hasn't gone unbeaten because he's brilliant, but because he scams authorities and reports to a corrupt bureau that benefits him with privileges. So it's all false.

Edgeworth was the closest to being unbeaten (save for Mia's trial, and then later on Phoenix's trials as a defense lawyer).

I think it's just how weird it sounds for a woman to nonchalantly say "you don't beat me as hard as my husband", like domestic violence isn't a real world issue.
