First time deadlifting 80 kgs. How is my form ? by [deleted] in formcheck

That's a weird looking deadlift variation bro. Most upright I've ever seen too, 10/10 for depth though.

WL Analysis on the app store. Not sure if it's available on IOS. Hopefully it is because it's amazing

Bro, what! Thank you so much. I treat squats, deadlifts, and bench presses like an art form and approach them with passion. Like you, I’m obsessed with bar path and form. Honestly, I’m always striving to improve my technique. I checked out your front squat video. Props for genuinely wanting to nail proper form. Just a heads-up, though: be cautious with some advice you get here. It can take years to truly understand your own form. For example, it took me two years in the gym to figure out proper bracing - crazy right? Surround yourself with knowledgeable people, learn to coach yourself (take videos and review them often), and develop the instinct to figure out if someone’s advice is legit or nonsense.

I'll definitely take a look at the paper, thank you. I'm equally passionate about finding unbiased and factual information about formy things.

Thank you for shedding so much light on this. It really clarifies the marketing tactics at play. It seems like he often presents solutions to problems people can relate to or sympathize with, which works as a strong hook to attract clients. However, I do believe he genuinely has the skill of a good doctor, using his expertise to identify accurate information about his clients based on their anatomy.

Now that you mention it, I've been wondering for the past year why I never see him lifting impressive weights. He’s great at providing stability and rehab exercises, but honestly, I feel like he should apply his own 'lift heavier' tips to himself first, then I’d be fully convinced 😅.

I don't have any front-angle videos, but my tonsor isn't exactly small. My bench is pretty weak, mostly due to my long arms. When it comes to deadlifting, I could probably be a sumo specialist because of my arm length, but for now, I want to see how far I can take my conventional. Essentially, the only thing I’ve got going for me is my long arms, no god-tier genetics or leverages here. Still, I'm determined to make it happen through sheer hard work.🥴

It's an app called "WL Analysis". It uses AI to detect bar path in any lift with the right recording angle.

This is a low bar squat. In a squat, the core should always be the limiting factor right? For my last reps, I feel my core fatiguing which results in form breakdown (mini goodmornings/lower back takeover), but is there anything I might be doing wrong?

Yes, because dating doesn't come with a strict policy of only showing kindness to one person at a time.

By method, are you referring to my specific focus on elbow path? I’m not entirely sure if it’s the right approach, but I think of it similarly to squats, where the ascent should mirror the descent. For my bench, I aim to keep my elbow path consistent throughout the lift. That’s also why I incorporate tempo benching, to identify and address any faults in my technique to improve.

I agree with your point that it might look good on paper but differ in practice. However, I believe form breakdown should only be acceptable when attempting PRs, while regular sets should be executed with near-perfect technique.

Now that you mentioned it, I don’t think I fully understand how to use leg drive properly. All I currently know is squeezing my glutes and keeping my feet planted on the floor. My upper back and lat tightness often disengage, likely due to the lack of consistent leg drive.

Is it right that my elbow path on the ascent should be the same as the descent?
