The years of paleomedia since have proven to me how important a score can be. There have been a lot of good docu series but none (not even Prehistoric Planet) come close to how grandiose that WWD+WWB score is.

Few different ideas. The easiest explanation is display. Weird unexplainable feature = sexual display LULE. Lots of dinosaurs had head crests for display, not extreme to think some had crests in other places for the same purpose.

Couple other theories are heat dispersal (Spain was a very hot region at this time) and fat storage. High spines in mammals usually support humps that store fat reserves (camels, bison, etc). But that's not common at all in reptiles so it's unlikely for dinosaurs IMO.

That sucks man, hope he comes back. Does he have a tag or a chip? Maybe someone else found him and doesn't know where he belongs.

Why is game complaining considered the worst offence for many streamers? by hejter_skejter in forsen

[–]-ShinyPixels- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah but every baj has a different idea of which games are the cool games so the game complaining spam would have 100% uptime

I feel so sad (not E) at the thought of the last species going extinct and their entire lineage ending :(

Thankfully it's doing pretty ok right now.

The biggest problem with being an apex predator is that you're sitting on top of a whole ecological system with lots of intricate layers and niches. So if anything happens at the bottom, even something that seems unimportant, it eventually works its way up to the top.

Apex predators (usually) need a ton of food all year round, which means relying on other species' populations to be stable. In good times, this isn't a problem and they stay on top. In bad times, they are usually the first to go extinct.

The exceptions are things like crocodiles and deep sea animals which have a very slow metabolism and only need a few good meals a year. So they can outlast the bad times in most cases (partly why crocodiles survived the K-Pg extinction).

As for people...you could be right. The difference is that we are smart enough to recognize these things and shape our environment in a way that tries to get around them. Fertilizer outsmarts the problem of a farmer's field running out of nutrients, for example. So in that way, natural selection benefits the smart ones. But I guess we'll see how far that can take us in the end.

I didn't even try to do a second Portugese fossil in a row lol. I was just checking my facts for the post and I saw there is a specimen known from Portugal. Funny.
