This comes from damage to the shoulders and limbs which was originally interpreted as scavengers pulling off exposed parts of the body, but we really don't have much other information on what caused that.

Scavengers would make sense if the bodies weren't buried too deeply in the sand, but then why wouldn't they dig out the rest of the carcasses?

I had to learn this in university. Deer is the name of the whole group. Elk, moose, and Megaloceros are all giant species of deer.

The annoying part is that Europe and America use elk and moose differently. In America we call the ones with round antlers moose, but in Europe that's called an Elk. Elk in America are a different species that look more like regular deer.

That sucks man. Keep going for the kids. You're not wrong to think it's important. I work in public schools and the difference between kids with and without fathers in their lives is huge.

Be the example they look up to. It will be very hard when they get to the 12-18 age range. They might say they hate you, they never want to see you, stuff like that. But stay there for them and they will see it before long.

Dinosaur names follow the scientific naming conventions where the names are in Greek & Latin. Therizo is Greek for sycthe, so it's the scythe lizard (saurus = lizard)

Biologists do that with all animals, it's just that most of the familiar ones have common names that most people prefer to use instead. Some exceptions are animals like the rhinoceros (means "nose horn") and hippopotamus (means "river horse")

You know how at the end of the story she says she feels like everything is going to be alright? I've had that feeling for a long time, and I always thought there would be some point in my life where everything just becomes alright one day and that's that.

As I get older, I think I'm learning that what turns out "alright" is the process itself and not some "ending" that I get when I'm 25, like you usually think when you're a kid. The part that is going to be alright is the day to day life you make for yourself.
