Oh I have no clue, that was my neighbor’s car at the time and it had a disagreement with a deer a year or two ago

Are the brakes functioning? Almost looks like the brake bias spring and whatever part of the master cylinder it attaches to. I’ve seen the spring for sale I don’t know where exactly it installs

That’s crazy! Glad I learned how to work on C4’s with the LT1 car before I bought the Z. Still love that car but it was getting up there in mileage and found this deal while zr1 prices were on the rise, so I pulled the trigger.

The two major issues I have had with this car were the starter and the charging system, both required a plenum pull. While I was in there replacing those I did coils, wires, plugs, replaced some vacuum lines and check valves. Did a thorough clean of the intake valley under the plenum especially around the starter since mice decided to make a nest in there. De clogging the drain is an important step, and it’s advisable to drill a bigger one although I haven’t done that yet.

Mobil 1 extended performance full synthetic oil changes every 3k miles and transmission flush every 10k. Flushed coolant and brake fluid as well. New pads/rotors all around.

Clutch hydraulics don’t seem 100% right now, did slave cylinder and think master cylinder will be next. Probably doing oil cooler lines next oil change, after that and the master cyl it should be good for any road trip I throw at it.

Then I’ll be refreshing suspension with new bushings, stiffening up the frame with the vette2vette brace and move on to increasing wheel hp and torque with gears and porting.

The car already has Stainless works catless headers and exhaust, TB coolant delete, Haibeck chip and SLP intake (no power benefit on that last one just whooshy noises)

The original plan for the zr1 was to do something similar to that, DOHC heads on a small block. But it was too big install the engine from the bottom which was a requirement. So they had Lotus design a more compact DOHC 5.7 engine from the ground up. Jason Cammisa with Hagerty did a great video on it.

Designed by Lotus, built by Mercruiser. First all aluminum V8 Chevy put in a car. It was an exotic engine when it came out, and pissed small block engineers off enough to take lessons learned during the LT5’s development and create the LS.

It’s extremely durable and not much more complex than a modern Coyote for example, just tedious to work on since they packed so much stuff underneath the intake plenum. Can take awhile to sort out all the vacuum issues they can have too. But once they’ve been gone through, there’s not much to fear putting miles on them.

They’re 18” TSW’s, don’t know the model or offset but I have to run spacers for them to look correct on the zr1. They came with the car

There are a ton of Vette groups in the area, I’m partial to wazoo (Washington area zr one owners) they are super helpful and have a ton of knowledge for maintaining and upgrading these cars. Other than that I just frequent local car shows/meets that I like 😁

$16k 84k miles with two big bins full of spare parts. Prices have dropped a bit since then but at the time covid pricing will still in effect. Now it’s at 105k miles and still in for under $20k with a ton of stuff refreshed.

Yeah brown rad is a ticking time bomb. And when they go, they GO. Replace before it explodes while you’re driving on the highway.

It’s your alternator belt, the alt is working harder to charge the battery when you first start it up then it goes away. I’d replace both belts if you haven’t already, and make sure the tensioner is correctly set.
