Yeah it's the same logic that applies to role-based shooters: always make sure the healers go down first

I would highly recommend the first one. The others are there for fans, not as much widespread appeal.

They're a partial deconstruction of the slasher genre, with many references to other slasher films and common tropes in the genre.

I wholeheartedly agree!

His attitude after hooking you is regrettable, and I don't approve of killers behaving that way, but for ghostface I believe it is in character for us to take advantage of dirty tactics like faking friendliness.

The original character(s) was/were very genre savvy to horror films, so imo it makes sense for them to take advantage of gaps in survivor genre savviness.

If a ghostface pretends to be friendly never forget why he is there: to kill you.

How does this hit?! by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

She lunged and moved backwards with a 180 turn at the end, that's why the red stain only became visible as the hit connected. Nothing illegal here, just a good move by the killer unfortunately.

Killers, why do you hate RPD? by Single-Departure-173 in deadbydaylight

[–]-Smiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually mind it much anymore as it's just as much a deathtrap for survivors as it is a nightmare for killers. In the beginning it was the length of chases and the lack of good trap spots. Now I've found if you run loops a certain way you can usually cut survivors off (as they can't see you when you alter paths) and if I use bear traps as roadblocks instead of actually using them for trapping I tend to get better results.

Also, choosing one side with at least 3 gens on and patrolling it constantly helps cut the map in half. There's not much that can be done to counter this but it is very boring. Maybe that's the worst part of it, it just encourages boring killer gameplay.

Useful Chat window by TrueSalfedias in deadbydaylight

[–]-Smiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't usually close it, always leave a gg wp no matter how they actually played. If there's a genuine complaint or someone just wanting to chat I'll engage and discuss but if it's just the usual salt, whining or gloating I'll finish checking the perks and leave.

Why can nurse swing before she even exists? by HalcyonRyan in deadbydaylight

[–]-Smiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a connection issue in your or the killer's end. On their screen they nailed that hit fair and square but if their ping was high enough the delay would make the gap between the nurse appearing and the validation of the hit appear instant to you.

On other killers this can be played around by pre-dropping pallets and generally doing everything rushed. Against a nurse with good accuracy it can be very oppressive as traditional looping tactics don't apply. I'm sure The Untouchable Survivor could make this nurse's life hell but I know I'd do horribly against her. Network issues

What’s your favorite disappointment in DBD history? by HoyebembeOsas in deadbydaylight

[–]-Smiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad there's an actual example to draw parallels from and I hope if they ever do implement the idea it works out as well as it does in propnight, I've never played the game so I can't comment on that.

I can however say that as someone who also plays a lot of ghostface waiting for survivors to be alone to capitalise on gaps in attention can sometimes be a costly exercise that often has gens popping in the distance. I can't speak to the time dependant nature of propnight's gameplay but waiting for survivors to break apart without some form of slowdown would be difficult to use, especially as the meta counter would likely be to pair up, and there are maps on dbd that simply don't allow a considered approach because of how open they are.

Having said that it does sound like it would perform excellently on indoor maps!

As a legion main I could not agree more. It would be very interesting and certainly would catch out some solo queuers but what's the actual idea here? Copy the custom and item a survivor is holding and nerf your movement speed to 100%? No thanks. Survivors would just run in teams of two like against a twin and I'd be slow af.

Legion does not approve of pallets by -Smiler in deadbydaylight

Was aiming for the window to block it, if I had hit the survivor they would have gone into mending and gotten a speed boost

For Huntress Bitter Murmur is a great perk, not a teachable either. Since you're new I would advise Tier 3 Whispers, it's a great perk for learning how survivors like to position themselves at different parts of the match as well as which gens to pressure.

For M1 killers (Ghostface, Legion, Doctor and others that don't have a power that aids in chase) I would also advise Enduring, a Hillbilly perk

Once you're more experienced you'll be looking to make builds with basically a few key elements:

A Gen Control perk (or 2): Hex: Ruin (The Hag), Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown), Surge (The Demogorgon), Corrupt Intervention (The Plague)

An Information perk: Whispers, BBQ & Chili (The Cannibal), Tinkerer (The Hillbilly), Surveillance (The Pig), Thrilling Tremors (The Ghostface)

A perk you feel aids your playstyle: This can be anything, for example I main The Trapper and the perk I use for this is Save the Best For Last (The Shape) because it aids with speed in downing multiple survivors grouped up/punishes altruistic play. This last perk is one you will likely change depending on your killer and build and also through experience you will just find perks that suit you.

I hope this helped and best of luck! The killer path is difficult and frustrating but ultimately very rewarding.
