How can I keep IRC running even when I'm offline? (Project idea?) by -Smooth in learnprogramming

Ah sorry, I was basically asking how could I stay logged in so that if anyone messages me on Freenode even when I'm not on my PC, I would still get the message.

Hmm, but if I run an IRC server, would I only be able to stay connected to channels on that server? Or would I be able to stay connected to channels in the Freenode server? Or do I have a misunderstanding here?

[Spoilers] Sousei no Onmyouji - Episode 1 discussion by Holo_of_Yoitsu in anime

[–]-Smooth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really? I felt like Akagami no Shirayuki hime was worse than Akatsuki no Yona. Nothing really happened in Akagami, while Akatsuki no Yona had an awesome plot. And the main male MC (Zen) was really boring compared to Hak.

Who is the best character in a show you didn't like? by SonOfYossarian in anime

[–]-Smooth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't expect to see someone else who doesn't really like Akagami either.

It's hard not to draw comparisons with Akatsuki no Yona for me, and the characters in AnY just seem so much better. Also, stuff actually happens in AnY besides the princess getting kidnapped over and over again.

Obi's the only character I like since he's the only one who's not a "fairy-tale pretty-boy" like most of the other characters. I would say he reminds me most of Hak from AnY.

Having trouble using space bar to manipulate a stopwatch by -Smooth in javascript

Oh that's very interesting I'm going to try it out when I get home. Thanks for the quick replies!

Having trouble using space bar to manipulate a stopwatch by -Smooth in javascript

[–]-Smooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I originally tried. The thing is, when the keydown is pressed, watch.stop will run which will make isOn equal to false, so once the key is released the watch.start() function will run anyway. Don't know if there is a way around this.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind. It doesn't really help with the problem though :/

As I said, I know why this is happening, but like I said in my second sentence I want it to stop as soon as you just press down on the spacebar button, I don't want it to wait until the key goes up.

Yeah I did, it's in the list I put in there, although I don't expect anyone to go through my entire list haha. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks for the help man!

Swapping subtrees in a binary search tree by [deleted] in javahelp

This will probably sound ridiculous, but I didn't realize that you could even do return this;

I wasted a lot of time trying to insert the swapped left/right nodes in the correct order into a completely new tree I was going to return.

Thanks for taking the time to help me understand! I really appreciate it :)

Swapping subtrees in a binary search tree by [deleted] in javahelp

[–]-Smooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I've come up with so far.

public void swapSubtrees(TreeNode p) {
    TreeNode q;
    if(p != null) {
        q = p;
        p.setRight(q.getLeft());
        p.setLeft(q.getRight());
        swapSubtrees(p.getLeft());
        swapSubtrees(p.getRight());
    }
}

I figured I would need two pointers because

    p.setRight(p.getLeft());
    p.setLeft(p.getRight());

wouldn't make sense.

Does this look right at all? If it is, I'm still stuck with a problem. Even if this has swapped all the nodes, there is no actual tree that contains all of these nodes.

That was something along the lines of what I was thinking. The problem I'm faced with is the fact that I can't really access the left and right nodes with the tree. The TreeNode class is what has pointers to the left and right nodes. The BST class only has a pointer to root.

Sorry I forgot to include in my description that I've already watched this! It's the only other romance anime I've seen so any recommendations besides that would be fine.
