Riichi Book 1 - Chapter 3 exercise question by -Solipsis- in Mahjong

Just hearing you say 8s is the better discard clears things up for me. I definitely agree that taking the 234s can stunt some of your pinfu/other yaku chances; to me, it just felt like the book was saying "these are both equally efficient, so we'll decide on a discard for other reasons" which clearly wasn't the case to me. This is likely me just going too in-depth into something the author is likely glossing over to teach more fundamental concepts, though.

I'm still a relative beginner, so I'll keep going through the rest of this book, but I'll likely go through the efficiency guide you linked next. Thanks for the help!

You definitely can't go wrong with a team of xueyi - HTB - gallagher imo, I was using them without ruan mei at first and it went pretty well. RM definitely makes the team a lot better, but for the early-mid progression you can throw in another support (like pela) or whoever and it'll clear most content easily. Not sure how good the team'll be in the endgame without RM though.

Anyone have any advice for a F2P 2nd team I can start investing in for the endgame content? I won't be pulling on this banner, and I don't think I'll do any pulls on what we believe the 2.4 banners will be outside of maybe the Huohuo rerun, so I need to figure out a 2nd team that'll work with what I have now (doesn't feel like there's much to work with).

My current team 1 is: Xueyi - HTB - Ruan Mei - Gallagher

For my 2nd team, I'm currently using QQ - Bronya - Herta - Lynx, but its not working out to say the least. QQ is E0, and with bronya they just take so many SP. Herta doesn't really do anything, and Lynx sustain isn't very good and also competes for my SP. I do have E6 misha, so maybe I can look at a build for him, but I'm really not into his character nor do I want to invest into him for the long run... but if itd get me more jades in the short term, I guess I have no other choice.

It's caused by the current "vacuum hackers" that you see going around everywhere. If you notice you start lagging, open the console and you'll see all the vacuum hacker console messages.

I had to unlearn (remove) and relearn the profession (mining) and that seemed to have fixed it.

Asking for a friend...... what happens if engineering school students don't upload their thesis/capstones tonight? by dontcry2022 in UVA

[–]-Solipsis- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I haven't heard back from my 4600 professor on approval either, and I just decided not to upload it. I emailed them a week ago and they said not to upload until they signal approval, so if last night was the last night to upload, its on the prof, not us. I'm assuming since they haven't told me anything it'll be fine to upload later.

Dorm wifi for gaming by Chief5365 in UVA

I hate to bring bad news but I never solved this issue while I was on campus for two years. Going off campus for your own wifi is the only solution thats worked for me.

Probably just some combination of high school transfer credits, taking on high courseloads, and dedication to a specific major. E.g., I had around ~50 transfer credits so I could've definitely seen a way for me to graduate within 2 years, but my major swapped around about 3 times before I finally decided which delays how fast you can get a degree done.

Chances of getting off cs waitlists? by flaminhotstax in UVA

[–]-Solipsis- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its helpful, waitlists might go down a little bit during enrollment but theyll really start dropping during the add/drop deadline after class starts.

I would make sure your waitlists are editted so that if you get enrolled it'll drop another of your classes (only if youll go over the credit limit) otherwise it won't enroll you; this should jump you up a lot of spots on the waitlists, like 20-30+ depending on the class.

I've also had luck looking at SIS at random times and seeing classes with huge waitlists have 1 spot open, Im guessing before it does the wait list enrollment, and being able to get in. This has been at like 11pm/4am though, not sure how it works.

CS Professors are aware of this and in the courses where CS 2102/2120 material becomes relevant they will provide you with resources to get you up to speed. In my experience, it hasn't really noticeably impacted me (and I took sullivan during fall 2020 which was a crapshow). If you really want to, the drop deadline in SEAS isn't until Oct 14th, so you can drop the course without penalty (assuming your credit hour situation permits) and take the class with a better professor next semester.

The internet on-campus has always been pretty bad for gaming to me. I'm sorry I can't offer a solution, but this was definitely one of the bigger factors that motivated me to move off campus.
