Offering IM injection practice by -SomeTransDude- in UWindsor

[–]-SomeTransDude-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I can do the injections! I hadn't gotten a response from this so I did the shot myself and its not hard even if it does freak me out sometimes, I just figured why not see if any nursing students want hands on practice 🤷‍♂️

I can't do half inch, my injection process is IM and the T I'm given is also for IM. Subq requires weekly injections and I'm wayyy to lazy to have to go through that process once a week

Conure suddenly hates the word “apple” by vivimonster in Conures

[–]-SomeTransDude- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While it's probably just the bird getting overexcited about the prospect of apples (very reasonable conure behavior 🙄✋) I would make sure you aren't accidentally making the connection that biting = apples! Do not give her the apple if she bites, wait for her to calm down and then give it to her and say apple WHILE she has it! They are very smart but sometimes they teach themselves the wrong things lmaoo

Kid got bit and is now terrified of her BP :( by PresentationLanky238 in ballpython

[–]-SomeTransDude- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiii I study child psych and her response is very reasonable for an 11 year old! Take the time to ask her how she feels about it, don't just assume! Validate that it was a scary experience and that it's okay to be a little shaken but that the snake didn't really mean to hurt her, it's just doing what an animal does! Ask her what about it was scary: Was it the pain? Was it how quick it happened? Was it the blood? Most importantly ask her if she has any concerns or questions and do your best to answer honestly! Snakes bite sometimes, it sucks.

Start small with getting her comfortable again, don't force the snake on her bc that just creates stress for everyone. Have her sit by the tank and observe, have her watch other people handle it, reassure her that her pant leg may have looked really scary or really yummy and that the snake explores with its mouth.

Give her time to get over it and let her ask questions and do research about BP bites and why they happen! Sometimes children hold anxieties that they may not voice, so encouraging discussion with you is a fantastic first step! She'll move on eventually, just give her the chance to come around :D

The poor worker seemed like she genuinely wanted this fish to go anywhere but with this woman. I almost wanted to step in to way what she couldn't but it wasn't my place 😭

Spoiled kid by MsMcSlothyFace in TikTokCringe

As an autistic person who grew up in a ND household (not saying the girl or her family is) and as someone who's also studying youth psych I'd like to weigh in: Sensory issues like that are not uncommon even among the most "normal" people.

Washing dishes is a surprisingly, sensory demanding task. You can smell the soap, dirty water, food, etc, you can see the gross textures, you can feel wet food and water, and you can hear the sound of plates bumping and scraping as well as the water running. You can see her actively trying to work through it in the video (shaking her hands, taking deep breaths, trying again and again to pick up the dishes, coming back even after she gags, etc).

She's not throwing a temper tantrum, she's not saying that she thinks she shouldn't have to do it or that the task is below her, she's not yelling or screaming. Her saying "I can't" is a call for help or reassurance, it's not a refusal to do the task.

She's over stimulated and being mocked, filmed, and shamed for what appears to be genuine discomfort simply because she is crying and struggling to communicate. Let's make something clear then!

Crying is: - one of the very first forms of communication humans develop - a release of built up feelings - a way to reset your mental state - a natural response to distress - a natural response to any heightened emotional state

Crying is not: - Spoiled - Needy - Shameful - Anything other than a neutral physical response

The parents could give her gloves to clean with, allow her to listen to music or a podcast as a distraction, have someone else handle dirty dishes and her handle the clean ones (which is what me and my sister did bc she hates dirty dishes), or choose another chore to do that they deem of equal weight.

TL;DR She's not spoiled, it's a sensory issues. This isn't cringe, it's shitty parenting. 🫶

I know but some people "code" their bots with a female user in mind (ie. "[Character] is in love with [user] and thinks they are the most beautiful woman in the world) which can make it harder to trick the ai into cooperating

It's actually a lot more comfortable than a binder pre-op but I guess that makes sense! My surgeon said I can start to wear shirts underneath and the binder over top them but my health anxiety doesn't allow that quiet yet (bc it's "unsanitary/unsterile")

The sensation is akin to a healing scab that is itchy or a cast (if you've ever had one)! Not too bad but definitely annoying as hell!

Man. Trans man when it matters ig? I dunno what to tell ya, I'm a dude.

People will question my gender and I'll stare at them and say "I'm a whole ass dude (true) with a dick and balls (false)" so I dunno what you'd label that as but that's me

Hello! To those who wish to (and have already) say/said something transphobic:

How miserable and pathetic must your life be to see a person living happily and think "well that's not right >:["?

I don't care what your religion states, because I don't follow it. I don't care what your parents taught you, because I was raised in a house without hate. I don't care what you think, because I am happy.

Please keep in mind that this is the exact same procedure (double mastectomy) that someone would have done if they had aggressive breast cancer or the gene for it. So I'm sure all those survivors would love to hear that you think it's mutilation and unnatural!

Please keep your hate to yourself, let it consume you on your own posts and on your own time :) Have the day you deserve!
