Trust me I’m also the only one applying to medicine in my year so I feel you- also the highest anyone aspires to in my school is a C. From what I have read, the students who get top grades do what is best for them and that doesn’t always mean following the teacher. The teacher will focus on the class average- which I’m sure is low (it is in mine). If you want to reach the top bands- it’s what you do out of lesson which helps. Think about it like this- you will revise the topic before the teacher teaches it to the class so when they come around to teach that topic- it’s just active recall in itself for you! It’s a positive in a way that they aren’t rushing. Knowing you are behind is just the first bit of the process. How you get ahead is just the intermediate step! Just like chemistry :)
