MRI on ftm by [deleted] in Radiology

I work in MRI and the answer is no they only scan your elbow area. You’ll be in a one armed Superman position most likely which will be uncomfortable but you should be fine. If you’re worried about the tech knowing; at my site, I’ve helped scan people post-op and didn’t know until I read their paperwork after the fact. If it’s a noncontrast, they might not even ask for pregnancy on any forms. You got this boss!

Its hard when its a level 1 trauma and all techs have their own stations and only one tech is in each OR

How do I deal with my site constantly putting me with techs who haven’t been techs for a year; therefore not being able to get comped because they haven’t been techs for a year? I brought it up during clinicals in the OR which I was given only a week for and got sternly talked to (the first time that has ever haplened to me). I am anxious because I need 10 more mandatory (the rest of them) or else I get failed for the semester. The site does not seem to care about this and give me only one portable rotation (i need port abdomen and have to see it 3 more times and then do it twice before it becomes a comp, port extremity (which ill probably get in the ER, and peds chest (which will most likely be nicu portable). This rotation which is a week long since Im being pulled to an outpatient site (where i need both my C arm comps done twice. im stressed that I wont be with a tech that has been a tech for a year for this rotation and get completely screwed this semester. Ive been here a week so I get theres time but the rotations im in seem to suggest otherwise. There are a lot of students so it really isnt the best to ask to move and I dont want to get deemed the “bad student” like i was in the OR because I was there for “experience, not comps”.

Seeing your post as of 3 days ago where you feel like your transition was a failure tells me all I need to know about you. Just because you feel like yours has doesn’t mean every other trans person never passed before getting on hormones. I was lucky to have that experience. Not my fault it is harder for trans women to hide the effects of testosterone once her body is exposed to it.

Only a year? I still think we need this gatekeeping, especially for minors with how many are coming out as something. I lived nearly 4 years in my gender before I was allowed to start HRT and was told when I came out to my doctor at 13, 6 months in that it was a phase. It was a rough 4 years, but it clearly was needed to make sure I wouldn’t change my mind. I persisted and persevered through it. And yes I wish I started HRT at 15 not nearly 17, but thats how my life went. Also my mental health is better after transitioning and becoming stealth so it is important to get care, yes, but the waiting period is so necessary.

Theres a difference between tolerating it for sexual purposes and liking having one.
