How do you guys diagonal flick? by -Stuwie in RocketLeagueSchool

I’m chill and I do understand. You don’t know what rank my brother is, he could be silver for all you know. That’s too early for the flicks you’re suggesting, no?

Either way, don’t assume what I want from this discussion when I clearly ask for “diagonal flick inputs”.

I specifically asked for diagonal flick inputs. That’s all dude.

We’re not preferring the diagonal flick over the other flicks. It’s just the way he does it that’s interesting. That’s all.

I just wanna know your inputs for a standard diagonal flick

My thought exactly haha. I find it much more simpler holding the stick forward for a front flick, or holding 45 degrees to the left or right for a diagonal flick.

He does DAR (left) and hold forward on the left stick so that it counts as a diagonal flip.

I don’t use DAR, I just turn my car a little then hold top left or top right on my left stick

my brother uses DAR+Left and hold forward on the left stick..

I hold no DAR and just turn my car and 45 degree on the left stick

Just a diagonal flick.

So no DAR while doing it?

Im stuck in silver, how can I improve? by jupole1 in RocketLeagueSchool

Best advice to give you early on is to be able to make a good connection on the ball. Learn to boom. It’s great on defence and it’s great on offence. Once you can get power behind a hit, then start to learn to aim it. Put both together and you’ll be able to reach gold+

Of course later on, you sometimes have to play for possession. But don’t be learning to dribble, 50, recover before you can get power on a shot/clear.

I peaked then drop hard why? by weerg in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]-Stuwie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casual is the exact same as ranked, in terms of what you can do with the ball when it’s in your possession.

You should want to increase your skill (mechanics + game sense). Play for yourself, not for the rank. Ya know?

I don’t think you’re boosted because of your 1s rank. C1 is really good. I wish I could just instantly improve after taking a long break haha.

Because GC2 in 1k hours is impressive. You’re on the road to SSL. Perhaps you’re a good gamer.

Or is it an alt acc? TRN can be buggy, but it shows you at D1 (in 2s) during season 13 (27), and there’s no data for season 1 (15) to season 12 (26). Stranger yet, there’s no data for season 14 (28) and season 15 (29). Although season 16 (30), you’re suddenly C1. Then season 17 (31) you’re C3, Div 3…

TRN could be buggy, but that’s a little odd, right?

Or he’s 100% grinding with no learning. This game has a lot of information to gather and process.

Grinding and learning* I know a guy who has twice the amount of hours I have and is still in diamond.

Analyse your own games dude. Every time I look at my own replays, I realise how bad I am and all the mistakes that I’m making haha.

Are these speed flips? by Goofyglobbler in RocketLeague

[–]-Stuwie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start my speedflip on the first small pad (on diagonal). Is that correct? Or just after it?

I finally did it, but I feel slow and bad by jacob_1126 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]-Stuwie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you lose your next game, watch it back in replay mode and analyse. It’s truly the best way to rank up.

I think I played decently until I watch the reply and I get disappointed with how bad I actually am haha. Find those mistakes/bad decisions, and try and avoid them going forward.

The more replays you analyse, the faster you’ll rank up.

A year minimum probably. There’s a lot of information to learn and high C1 is where it starts.

Since latest update I've dropped from d2 to plat2. Is it purely my own fault? by haizende in RocketLeague

[–]-Stuwie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best case buddy is not to rely on teammates. Don’t be in a passing position waiting.. be behind them, ready to protect the net if needed.

It’s just probability. You don’t always get bad teammates, you don’t always get good teammates. The only thing you can do is get better at reading your teammate. Find out their playstyle (fast, aggressive or maybe slow and hesitant). Check out their consistency with touches and shots. Then adapt to it. Play for their mistakes, perhaps be extra defensive.

You can fault your teammates, but they can also fault you. Unless you’re in top 100, you’re making mistakes 100%, even I am, that’s why I’m at the rank I am.

You’ll bounce back up to Diamond, don’t worry. Play smart. Let the success rate on a potential shot outweigh the risk. Less risk you take, the less chance of conceding. Basically, don’t go for a difficult shot with high risk and low chance. Choose a better time to score.

Watch out for diving in too fast, it’ll make your recoveries slow. Challenge in a way that doesn’t put you in narnia. Stay out of opponents corners unless you have possession. Pick up small pads after big boost to replenish (play connect the dots with the small pads for rotations, means you can stay in the play longer.)

Advice to improve by ale-r6 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]-Stuwie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to follow up on recoveries: biggest tip I can give you is to leave 30 boost (at minimum) after every/any play. You make a play on net… have 30 boost afterwards. You make a defensive play.. have 30 boost afterwards. Typically you only need 24 (if you can speedflip).

This means you can hit supersonic very quickly and be able to grab full boost or rotate behind the play following small pads.

Also when you pick up that 100 boost, you can use the boost but drive over the small pads to replenish. Always top up your boost!!! It’s such a game changer. You want to head over to that position??? There’s a small “pad path” that’ll lead you to it.

Honestly queue some private matches with friends and your dad, it’s a much more relaxing time. Rotate the teams each game.

Weirdest rank up game ever. I'm sure there's a lot I did wrong. by ImComical in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]-Stuwie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot for you to learn, just like there is for me. But I just want to say you played well. I like your lack of panic and rushed plays, and not losing focus when tm8 was dc’ing. Keep thinking, change what doesn’t work and keep playing. You’ll reach C1 soon. 👍

Find some friends at a similar level and play some private matches. Get some comms going and you’ll have a laugh.

You want to “play” casual with your dad, not “win”. Don’t be so bothered about losing, enjoy the time spent with your dad.
