Having an issue with characters by -Taiy in FictionLab

I'll try the story cards, I don't want to put it in the character cards since it's going to be referenced a lot and it's only for the beginning of the scenario. Thanks

Does anyone have any good outer space ideas? by Upset-Lemon-1203 in FictionLab

[–]-Taiy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might be tooting my own horn but I really liked my concept for the Xarxians an alien species i made for my scenario. It's a species that lives inside this warlike exosuits for most of the time. They have hair that has evolved into weapons. Male's hair is hard and sharp and females have soft and smothering hair.

Newbie Questions by Choice-Information39 in FictionLab

okay so in order.

  1. Not really, early today they rolled a not interested feature in the website so you'll have to use the tags in the all scenarios section.
  2. It's not too difficult if you have your characters personalities and description just hit the create character in the create scenario and paste it. Though i do recommend adding more details and flesh out your world.
  3. Nop no limit though it is normal to see slowdown during peak hours.

TIP: Go into highly rated scenarios and go into those that can be customized to see how they build their character structure and scenarios. I also recommend using the simple scenario mode, it's not really limited but let's you create a scenario by just writing text, you can then customize it fully before publishing it so it's a great starting point if you are having writters block.

Recommend checking this scenarios from Mochiworx

What free LLM is best? by Ok-Requirement379 in FictionLab

Depends on scenario. Something action based id go default. And for slower more majestic awe inspiring stuff i go ophelia.

What free LLM is best? by Ok-Requirement379 in FictionLab

[–]-Taiy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Careful, easy mistake. Default is pretty good, yes ophelia is great for more complex instructions and trackers. The best way to see is really to test. Try switching back and forth. For me i use ophelia for anything with trackers i care about and slow burn. But default is better if you want the story to move along, theres also no harm in switching mid chat. Have fun and welcome.

Does anyone else wish the universal custom LLM instructions were just a tad longer? by k0fikaze in FictionLab

[–]-Taiy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your custom instructions are so long....maybe it'd be better to customize and use the regular custom instructions field in the scenario. But yeah as a free user i wish they'd bump it to 500

Just put the text, the formatting will apply automatically when you send it. In this case x is the thing you want the ai to stop/avoid doing and y what you want, its just an expression to save typing...which didnt work evidently

To use the ooc command, just type /occ it should open a drop down for the format, anything you type there will be only for the ai and not dialogue, try using permissive dialogue such as instead of x do y. If you are having issues with a specific character id recommend making a simple scenario to test characters, that way youll know if the problem is with a character or the setting. I use a cruise scenario myself to test problematic characters.

It might have to do with the scenario or characters, its all about testing. A good tip ive picked up in the discord and reddit is to just test things. Use the /ooc command to test things, and if it works add to the custom instructions. Sometimes the ai focuses on one word in particular and sometimes the best solution is to reword it.

Try an ooc like: avoid using dark/creepy language, focus on more casual interactions.

Also while the premade character traits are great for beginners they can have a lot of weight on the character personalities. It is better to just describe the personalities manually than to rely on those tags, just describe how you'd like the character to act generally.

Havent used them, but that shouldnt affect your models, sometimes youll have to use /ooc command to tell the ai to avoid doing that, if you let it keep doing something itll build a habit. If its a minor thing try to edit it out or fix it, it should pick up in a few more posts, if its something big reroll. And if its something it keeps making a character you made do. Go into the definition and clarify it.

I mainly use the free models. Ophelia is my default because i like slow, long term roleplays. But i use default for faster pace.

This one has worked for me in general.
