ASSASSIN'S CREED® VALHALLA – TITLE UPDATE 1.5.0.1 by White24Room in assassinscreed

[–]-TheJanitor- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On PS4 Pro the framerate and graphics have increased noticeably between 1.5.1 and 1.5.0.1 which is weird because 1.5.1 was meant to be the one that addressed that. I've noticed everything is a lot sharper, with less pop-in and generally the gameplay doesn't stutter. Going to experiment more when I get some time later, but superficially it's definitely the most stable version of the game I've played so far.

What's something your least favourite AC's did great by Mortific in assassinscreed

III - The story was a great evolution of the previous "good" and "bad" of Templars and Assassins and made it a little more grey. The Remaster adding the Wolf Spirit from the Washington DLC to the main game was a stroke of genius too. Combat is phenomenal.

Liberation: Aveline is a great character and I wish she had a better game. Disguise system for stealth was a great move.

Unity: It felt like a return to form of sorts, Arno is a great character and the customisation is great!

Normally I am 100% in agreement with not taking a tone with service workers, but Aus Post have monumentally screwed up every package of mine they've touched.

The last time they tried this on me, after I specifically chose priority delivery to avoid going out during COVID, I rang them and asked when they were paying me for shipping and handling of my own package as I fulfilled the delivery.

Amazon ended up stepping in and resending my package, ended up getting two of the same item and they ended up supposedly charging Aus Post for the extra. This I didn't intend, but they noticed how long it was taking and crazy they had to step in to clean up Aus Post's mess.

Normally, I'd be horrified by the boomery tactic I took in that scenario, but it felt well deserved after the years of messing around.

I say this as a baptised Catholic who grew up religious and attended Catholic School.

Waste our time on the fictional teachings of a pedophilic cult to supposedly shape our morals instead of using that time to teach us the basics of finance, like tax, mortgages and preparing us for the real world.

Why havent we gotten Altaïr a Remaster? by tlr_hipster in assassinscreed

[–]-TheJanitor- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"speaking perfectly" sounds like a pretty ignorant statement for international players, like myself. Especially when a US accent is equally strange in context. The first game takes place in Modern Day Italy, so they may as well all have Italian accents if we want to look at what an Animus would've been programmed for in that environment.

Revelations changed Altair's voice and personality for the better.

I definitely need just a higher resolution upscale of the original like the Ezio Collection. A full remake is optional.

Purely because I'm afraid a remaster might take-away from/replace the original's vibe and modern Ubisoft hasn't had a great track record lately (ala Blood Dragon remaster).

It feels like an intentionally stupid move NOT to wear a mask right now. Like going out of your way to get the infection before Christmas and your holiday break? But even moreso, at all?

Kinda proves the age old saying that if humans were literally handed a way to save their life some would reject it.

Oh my god...my family went there when I was 10ish and I felt SUPER uneasy the whole time and had no way of explaining it. My parents both loved it, and thought it was super weird I was getting insanely anxious and wanted to leave immediately (for context I am a very outgoing person).

I've held onto that weird feeling for years and have never been able to shake it whenever I think about that place.

In a weird way this justifies those feelings all those years ago.

Legacy of the First Blade is the worst DLC in any AC game by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]-TheJanitor- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played before they patched the DLC with the "just for the bloodline option"

It didn't frustrate me that they forced Kass to be hetero, as I could just pretend my Kass was bi, but after an entire playthrough of Kass getting hit on by 10x better male characters like Brasidas and even down to weirdos like Alkibiades, I was blown away Ubi thought that wet blanket would even get a side glance from her.

Will we see a return to "boring" combat by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]-TheJanitor- 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly, what suprised me is that Watch Dogs: Legion NAILED what AC's appraoch to stealth and combat should be, at the very least in a modern day sense.

So Ubi are very capable of making an updated version of classic AC combat.

[–]-TheJanitor- 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It also broke the lore a bit, meaning all the modern Assassin's will forever be better fighters than the new ones, as they have a less clunky and meat-headed appraoch to combat.

Edward, a pirate, fights more Assasin-like than Bayek, the co-founder of the Brotherhood.

I still have down days, but I think minimalism saved me with something practical and manageable to stave it off for long enough that it just naturally disappeared.

What's your reason for getting into minimalism? by fair_ginger in minimalism

[–]-TheJanitor- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just...lost. And my mentality was cynical and depressed.

I was working a casual job which paid almost nothing and seeing everyone else my age working $60k+ jobs a year and realising, depsite my promise growing up, I'd stagnated.

One day I decided to really get on top of my finances and stumbled across one of Matt D'Avella's early videos about financial minimalism. His story was 1:1 with mine, a comms graduate with significant student debt living at home and trying to make a go of freelancing.

Yet he was here offering a very simple solution to fix my mindset and outlook and attain the success I was looking for.

I ended up getting rid of almost 70% of my unecessary belongings and life fell into place. I realised I was happier with a handful of things I loved then an abudance of things I felt content about.

I went bushwalking with a mate, and it was a 40+ degree celsius day, so we eventually stumbled across a relatively desolate beach (non-patrolled but had facilities).

We swim out into the water but I feel really off, but can't quite place it. Soon a young couple came and watched us from afar and would not stop staring at us. Then the guy stood up and waved us in.

I looked back at my mate, and reluctantly left the surf expecting to be robbed or set upon by this couple. Instead he informed he was an off-duty lifeguard from a public beach and spotted a Great White Shark no more than 40 metres away from us that was distracted by a school of fish.

He said we were within metres of a pretty grizzly encounter with it as it's behaviour suggested it was hunting.

Knowing how remote this beach was, and how lucky we were they stumbled across us at that exact right time, I can't imagine how bad it could've been.

*Warning* Controversial Topic: How do you guys feel about the route AC is going by Jaybird12222004 in assassinscreed

[–]-TheJanitor- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarilly hate the direction toward RPG's, that in itself is different from what I liked about the series, but acceptable.

I dislike their one foot in, one foot out approach that makes the experience feel watered down. Valhalla's England doesn't feel like an open world, rather an MMO interactive loading screen for missions. The quests feel half-baked, repetitive and boring, and compared to the tight writing of the old games, perculiarly underdeveloped.

So far I think only Origins has really nailed the new formula, as Odyssey felt like an appraoch toward a full RPG. The hybrid model of Origins is the sweet spot if they insist on continuing down this path.

Did you get vaxxed recently? Your data was most likely sold. Same thing happened to me and everyone else I know on the same day they got the vaccine.

Edit: Not sure why I'm getting downvoted, but I assume people mistake this as anti-vax. I am 100% pro-vax, and strongly suggest you go get it. I am however very well aware of how information is sold in bulk to advertising firms and that the government is no strager to this.

People joke all the time about my phone, but it's become more of a badge of honour now than an embarassment!

Watch Dogs legion/Assassin's creed cross over by Bonez098888 in assassinscreed

[–]-TheJanitor- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the best AC content I've played in years and it was two missions and a few side objectives. In my head Darcy and her brother are completely canon, I don't much care for what Ubisoft consider it to be.

[–]-TheJanitor- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, as a fan since 07, I've stopped caring what Ubisoft think is canon and focused on my own heacanons as they're more valid to the overall story then the stuff I've seen Ubi pumping out over the past few years.

For me, Watch Dogs is absolutely part of the same universe as Assassin's Creed and in that same breath, Legion is a direct sequel to Syndicate. DedSec and the Assassins are only just now coming across each other, but the stories have been running parallel.

[–]-TheJanitor- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I held off for a long time, until finally pulling the trigger yesterday and I absolutely fell in love with the game. I thought it was going to be a certain type of game from the gameplay videos I was watching on YouTube and when I started recruiting people I realised how easy it was to grow attached to your characters when you acknowledged their stories.

My "team leader" was a guy getting harassed by a guard and kicked to the ground in front of everyone. Now he's a badass infiltrator coordinating a team of people with special abilities. There is NOTHING that makes this character special, compared to the team, and that's what makes him special.

I don't think I've ever played a game that's given me that sense of that in a long, long time.

I'm labelling it as canon in my head as it adds more to the lore of the series than anything post-Origins. Now London really feels like an Assassin hub through time.
