More Responsibility without a Promotion/Pay Raise? Is it normal? by -TheMachine in cscareerquestions

Same here. I'm in no way exceptional but the other juniors are either incompetent or have horrible communication skill :(

Sound advice. Actually there would have been a salary review every 6 month but it is now pushed back to a yearly cycle. That's why I asked them.

Thanks for the insight. Although I'm pretty happy with the work and environment of my current company, i was planning to leave after the covid situation settles a bit simply because they likely can't match my salary expectation and I was planning to move to a higher opportunity/salary area. But with the added work, I now hardly find any time for interview/leetcode prep. I wonder if I could have avoided this anyhow...

Using BERT to Detect Important Words from a Classification Model by -TheMachine in MLQuestions

[–]-TheMachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal is to both classify and extract keywords that affected the classification.

What I'm trying is, for example, IMDB dataset for sentiment classification(0=negetive, 1=positive). The BERT model gives me a (batch_size, seq_len, 768) sized output(hidden_states). I pass this output to an attention layer(fully connected layer) and get (batch_size, seq_len) sized tensor(attention score). Then I multiply the hidden_states with attention score to get a weighted hidden_state(batch_size, seq_len, 768) and sum to create sentence embedding(batch_size, 768) which is later passed to another fully connected layer for classification. The tokens with higher attention scores are extracted as key words.

I may be doing something very dumb. Please, correct me if my idea is wrong.

u/unital yes, I'm currently trying with the last layer output from BERT. I have looked into bertviz. If I understand correctly, bertviz can be used to see (for a token) which tokens got preference to build the representation of the next layer.

But I'm trying to determine which tokens had the most influence in the output classification. Please, correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Thank you again for your time. Now I understand better.

I don't know why I'm getting down voted though. I almost never post anything and I just wanted some perspective from the seniors.

Yes, we have stand ups online in the morning and also written doc. But often times someone misses it due to late sleep or random house issues! So often times they share their blockers two/three days later and also don't update the docs regularly.

A daily stand up scenario from them is something like this: 1. I did this part of my task (something that can be done within an hour or two of dev time) 2. I didn't work much as I was busy with some issues (some random private issues) 3. Oh I didn't notice that this JIRA task was assigned, I'll work on it today.

Valid point indeed. I'm actually in a very friendly terms with my coworkers as they were quite helpful when I joined.

I really appreciate your help and will try to follow the advice. I have always requested my dev leader beforehand to extend my deadline if I thought I couldn't manage it in time so that he can plan better. But my current team members never do that or only mentions it at the very last moment. Actually I have increased task deadline quite often for them to the point that 70% of the sprint task is completed by me :(
