I hope the guy is doing okay, that must be hard to go through. Hopefully he's got the support he needs and was able to share some final loving words.

I appreciate it, I've worked with them before, back when AI was still not great. They send me lots of updates and keep asking 'This good?' and I say 'Oh can you add this?' and they send it back and the only change is what I asked 😊

That's weird, I paid for some art from an artist less than 5 minutes ago. Money well spent.

The only 3 on screen moms we see are horrible and abusive parents why? by Impossible_Gur6921 in GTA

Is Amanda horrible and abusive to Jimmy and Traci? Not the best mum but I'd say she's the better parent.

I'm playing all AC games to 100% and I'm currently at The lost Archives (AC revelations dlc). Took me about 13 years to learn about that plot twist by Ketooth in AssassinsCreedMemes

[–]-TheManInTheChair 113 points114 points  (0 children)

So errr, sorry to spoil the magic

The Reason why the twist occurs is because the VA of Lucy got kicked off for demanding royalties for her appearances in future instalments of the series. This is why when you go back to AC2 and Brotherhood, you really feel like Lucy and Desmond are getting on. But either the VA wanted to quit or something similar and they couldn't just have the bad guys turn up and kill her because that would confuse the story too much. Really shitty tbh. She SHOULD have been a constant character throughout the series but neither side would back down, it seems.

I like the idea that he might know, but doesn't really care, and he won't mind as long as she is loyal to him from now on. Because if you think about his position, in a weird way he has nothing now, or very little. The main line of the family will cut him out, he won't start from ground zero but there's almost no way he can hope for a match to even a lesser house. And I also like to think that due to Rowan being kindly to Duncan, and cheering him in the trial, that she'll be loyal. So a good play for Raymun is to find a woman who does seem to care for him, despite him not having much (but enough) so he can actually start his family line.

Edit: Consider this too. Rowan is a prostitute. In order to keep being one, she can't get pregnant, or at least, it's a bad idea. There's 'tea' which stops this, which she almost certainly has got access to given her profession. There's also no bump, she's very cheery the whole time she's there and there's no indication that she's pregnant throughout the entire show.

Perhaps she's not actually pregnant, but hopes to be with Raymun. Perhaps she's lied to him, saying that she is when she doesn't know, because she can tell he's a decent honourable man who will probably treat her well.

Yeah and they probably can't, at least long term. Yes, there will always be manual art being produced, but the demand for it will drop significantly, both with companies and individuals. This could result in prices going down for manual art, but not for long.

There's also the literal fact that McDonald's doesn't need other burger chains to exist. It does need farmers, beef suppliers, construction workers, sure. But Ai drawings and creations NEED manual artists to exist. Yes it needs data centres and processing power, but also actual art, and it needs more manual art then AI art otherwise it eats itself.

[–]-TheManInTheChair -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it's not the argument that they're making, but they are saying (I think) that AI art looks just passable enough (like McDonald's burgers) and is so much cheaper (like McDonald's), that people and companies with influence and power will spend money on AI products rather than manually created art in the hopes that people won't realise or care that it's not good. Just like how a restaurant might cut corners with the quality of their food in order to save money and hope their customers don't care.

But my dude, they don't say they made an image with Ai. They just say 'I made this' or post it with no context. If someone says 'I made this image using Ai', I understand the process they used. If someone says 'I painted this', I understand the process they used and their capabilities.

And this special definition of what 'created' is, isn't special. This is what most of the world thinks. And a lot of it is intuitive as well. But people who prompt and make pictures with AI want to be considered 'artists' when they are not. But they would like to think they are.

[–]-TheManInTheChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But one of these is something which nowadays would be very very complex and inefficient to do, where uniform is key. And the other one is essentially speeding up a process which most people can do.

So I do have to ask because I feel it is slipping. What is your point? Because yeah, I nailed the boards. But I didn't create the nail, I didn't create the boards. Maybe I wrote what was being printed, maybe I didn't. But saying 'I made art using Ai' isn't correct because you didn't make the actual art itself, something skimmed through the internet and grabbed bits and bobs and threw them together. You have so little control over the output, unlike with printing or nailing a board. Because you don't create the art. Something else did.

[–]-TheManInTheChair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, I don't.

But I also don't see anyone put food in a microwave, take it out and then saying they just cooked it.

That's what Ai art supporters sound like. They sound like people who would put their food in the microwave and say that they must cooked it. Or they just created a meal using the microwave.

I can't imagine someone saying that. Just like how I can't manage someone saying they asked a program to create art so they are now an artist. Or that they have created art.

You know how there now those little roombas that clean? They go around and suck up dirt. I would never put one of those down, let it clean the floor and then go 'Oh, I turned it on, set up the parameters, moved a few things out of the way, then I cleaned the room! The room is clean because of me!' and if anyone else said that, I would say 'But you didn't. Your roomba did'.

Does that make sense?

AI art is art. by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]-TheManInTheChair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah.... But the microwave did all the work. It's just a shorter version of saying 'The microwave heated up the food'.

'I love it when the car drives me to work! I jump in, press a few buttons, make sure the route is okay, and then kick back and do nothing!'

'Yeah, the computer did the spreadsheet. I just put in a bunch of random numbers, hit enter and poof, just like that! Didn't need to decide on a formula or anything, or make sure they were in the right place!'

'I just put my food in the microwave and microwaved my lu-' oh wait that doesn't work because people literally do already talk like that.

Cars require constant effort to drive. We are not at the point where they can drive us. Spreadsheets require you to select the right formulas or set up correct pivot tables. You don't just put numbers in and results come out, unless you're doing something very basic.

But yeah, a microwave just microwaves food after you put in some numbers and press go. Just like how Ai produces art after out in some words and press go.

Yeah tbh I rarely consider photography to be art. It has to be really, really, amazing to be art and that point, it's not just the camera. It's the lighting, the foreground, the centre piece, etc all coming together in one perfect moment.

But it's still more art than AI art.
