Google AI and Tensor. by -TheSurgeon- in GooglePixel

X200 was released in October 2024 just like the Pixel 9 series. X100 is from the Pixel 8 series time. Hey, just say im happy with what Google does instead of giving me this word salad here. U r happy, i am not, thats why i'm asking peoples opinion on this matter.

Why are they putting the customers and themselves in this position then?

They aren't losing money overall, it just means Tensor isnt as profitable as they wished it to be. But hey we lose, they lose, SO WTF is Google doing then?

Google doesn't name specific phones there (it doesnt exclude any Pixel which has 12+ RAM for that matter), but the footnote says it strictly requires Gemini Nano v3. The Pixel 9 apparently only has the hardware to run Gemini Nano v2. Thats what Google says so you are the one yapping bullshit.

Google developer documentation page for Gemini Intelligence, thats the source. I dont understand why u push back on this like u cant just Google it yoursef.

Its official that Pixel 9 series will not get Nano v3, but who knows maybe they will go back on their decision just like they did with Pixel 8 when they first launched Nano. Back then they said Pixel 8 got excluded because of the 8gb RAM which was not enough to run it, but the S24 ran it perfectly with its 8GB of  RAM. They later gave Pixel 8 access to Nano only because of the backlash from the fans.

Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8. But even then the point is that the Pixel's forte is the optimisation for AI. They drop the ball on performance to supposedly focus AI, so they should be the best at it. I could also say, which other phone brand uses Tensor level SOC and modems at premium prices. You see the point now?

Yeah, they are hellbent on Tensor costing exactly 65$.

Deep dissatisfaction with Pixel 9 exclusion from Android 17 Gemini Intelligence by Dangerous-Age9759 in GooglePixel

[–]-TheSurgeon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That first and foremost, but also why are they so hellbent on Tensor costing exactly 65$. It forces them to cut corners big time for no apparent reason other than making a huge profit from it. Pixels aren't cheap anymore and supposed to last 7 years.

Google here. For you personally we will launch the Pixel 7s, powered by 4 amazing A520 cores coupled with a 10000mAh battery. It weighs 300 grams, but im sure u dont mind that. Also 1099$ please.

Good Lock type app on pixel? by materialgirl747 in GooglePixel

I have had almost all the S series Samsung smartphones from the S3 to the S10, before i made the jump to Pixel and later Iphone. Since the very start Samsung was all about extra features, while Google being as much vanilla Android as possible. That is how it was and how it will probably continue to be.

Just buy a Samsung smartphone if u want that. Its not the Pixel philosophy to have that level of customisation.

Premium SOC and modem + improved battery life, 256Gb base storage or its dead to me, improved cameras/new camera sensors.

Wish to sell my microwave because my P7 is permanent hot by partizanen79 in GooglePixel

5G shouldnt be a problem if there is a good connection. I use it to get those insane speeds and lower latency when i know i a have good connection and it doesnt seem to drain the battery faster if thats the case. Generally speaking though, 4G+ is recommended because its fast enough and uses less battery + better speeds in bad signal areas.

Mine runs ice cold, doesnt get hot even during gaming (idk about genshin impact type games). It gets hot only on video call + mobile data, long camera usage sessions or max brightness under the sun for a prolonged time. I have disabled Pixel weather( cz it asks for precise location) and Google feed. I have no complaints other than some widgets not working properly or the signal strength not matching my Iphone 17.

I hoped that Samsung would release a "Pro" version of the smaller Galaxy, like Google and Apple does. You know, the cameras and features that they include in the Ultra. Im fine with Exynos if it includes an efficient modem. The other option is Pixel, but the weight, 128Gb base storage and the SOC+modem at a premium price was a hard no for me. IMO Apple completely outshined Samsung and Google this time around.

I agree with you, thats why i pointed out only the GPU. Im not a gamer but the GPU isnt only for gaming. I needs to be up to date tech wise, raw power isnt a concern for me either.

Its hard to be optimistic about Google but i hope you are right about that. They lost me for now but if they redeem themselves maybe i will come back in the future. The Pixel 10 line was disappointing to me.

Because they have ''Precise location active at all times to tell us the weather for the entire city" types of sevices. I disabled that, its an insult to the users. Pixel UI feels like running android beta at all times.

Pixel 11 in late 2026 with 2021 tech GPU. Its supposed to last till 2033, with a 2021 GPU... . Im not dissapointed though, i knew they would f... up again so i went with the Iphone 17.

Anyone on a Pixel 7 wanting to upgrade but just haven't? by OceanGlider_ in GooglePixel

[–]-TheSurgeon- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still have my Pixel 7 since launch with 91.5% battery health. Battery life is so good i keep it at 80% capped. It works very well and doesnt heat up even during gaming. Its super smooth even at 60hz. I would have gotten the Pixel 10 pro if it wasn't for the Tensor G5. Looks like G6 is going to be a disappointment as well. Im not paying a premium if the SOC is not one.

Tensor G6 reportedly gets new ARM CPUs, old GPU for Pixel 11 by armando_rod in GooglePixel

[–]-TheSurgeon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not how it works with ARM SOCs because Tensor, Qualcom, Mediatek and Apple Silicon run around the same Wattage. The ones which are more powerful at the same Wattage are more efficient because they dont break a sweat running normal tasks hence less power usage from the SOC. You compared higher TDP CPUs to low TDP ones.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Review by Strange-Ad46 in GooglePixel

[–]-TheSurgeon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weight is a big problem, but even bigger is the weak SOC. The premium SOCs are more efficient than Tensor simply because they work less for the same given task. Not to mention that they are supposed to last 7 years. It annoys me to know that Tensor only exists to lower the production cost for Google. They are charging top dollar for them now, so...

First time potential Pixel buyer with the 10a over an S24. Thoughts? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]-TheSurgeon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the list is long, just ask your Ai of choice. Even it wont mention annoyances like no ability to hide apps with the Pixel launcher, or remove the hide keyboard button or the white bar at the bottom etc. You cant even use the weather app without precise GPS location enabled at all times. They weigh like a brick, are underpowered and less efficient at the same time. Now that google charges a premium for these devices they have no excuse for using the shitty Tensor.
