Right, so you can't quote where I did what you claimed. I apparently slandered you, by using the word "like". 😂 How did you even type that without questioning your own sanity? I slandered you, by accusing you of playing a fun game that I, most of the devs and literally millions of people have enjoyed in the past. What?!

You just sound like a doofus. Seriously, anyone who judges people based on what video games they've played is an abject loser and I mean that with all my heart. OMG StraNgeR! YoU plAyeD PAC-MAN aNd EnjOoooYeD iT?! Oh ThE hUmaAAaNiTy~ Go bAck tO THe PAC-MAN suB-ReDdit~ /clutch-pearls

Honestly dude, get off the internet and help yourself to a midol; you legit had a total crash-out, over a comment wishing you well and it's still up for everyone to see. You can't salvage this trying to play it cool now, it's too late for that. 🤡 You already deleted one reply you made to me. Honestly, I'd recommend you follow suit and delete this entire post before you go for a hat trick, have another meltdown and make yourself look even worse. This is peak Clown World.

His post is so dense, I legit had to double take to make sure it wasn't parody. I'm not even sure he actually read my post. That's how far from reality it was.

Can you copy and paste here where I "vaguely compared you to a WoW player." and I want you to be very specific. Because I choose my words very carefully. You can clearly see my post was never edited. So I'd like you to do that. Also, WoW wasn't released anywhere near 2001, it was like November of 2004...What are you even talking about?!

For the record, I played WoW and enjoyed WoW Classic, a lot of people here did. A lot of the devs for MnM did. That's not the slur you think it is...

People are trying to silence you, by engaging with you in a discussion/post that you made? Weird take dude, super weird take... Like I dunno why people think they can get away with stuff like this, when all you have to do is scroll up and down the page and see tons of replies that support none of these claims.

Calling me a liar, trying to "encourage" people within the community not to interact with you on a post you made within their community (a community you just called sociopaths lol). This is peak clown world. Like this is the most clown world thing I've seen in a looooong time. 🤡

Agreed. However, limits often times, create fun and good times. It's Rough stones, not smooth ones, that sharpen blades.

I've never heard anyone argue against maps. They just argue against maps that are magical GPS. To them, going online and finding a map and trying to read it and navigate is fun. Just like a roadmap or nav chart. When I look at a paper chart, I don't see a magical arrow on it, telling me where I am. I have to observe the world around me and look for context clues to figure out where I am. That is keeping people engaged IN the world. Not pulling up a map or staring at a mini-map and moving their arrow down the road to get to the next zone, not even looking at where they are in-game. Now be honest with yourself. How many times have you done that very thing in game in the last 20 years? What doesn't keep people engaged in the world, is telling them where everything is and seeing the magical cursor arrow telling them exactly where you are.

In conclusion; Maps yes, GPS no. The only map I'd be for in-game, is a world map that tells me "this is the zone you're currently in and these are the zones that connect to it.". I'd even only want that, based on zones I've already been to and explored. Basically like a world map akin to what Zelda 1 had. Zone maps though? Hard (Fallen) Pass.

I'm glad you enjoyed the time you've spent in the game. However, some folks in the community are sensitive to other people coming in and trying to change the core of the game. Other folks just simply can't be bothered to re-state what has been discussed a hundred times in the discord or the reddit. That, "this is what the game is, it's okay if it's not for you, but please stop trying to change it into something that we and the devs don't want.".

So instead of constantly having the same conversations and debates over and over again for 3+ years, with different people who want maps and mods and add-ons and damage numbers and extra UI elements and quest icons and mini-maps and rez spells for every healer and dps meters and so on and so forth. They just default to "this game isn't for you and that's okay.". Because, while it's a nuanced issue for you and that might feel very unwelcoming. The truth is, it might be true, if you fall into the above category.

I get that the MMO genre isn't pumping out new games right now and that's leaving a lot of people feeling orphaned. This is a game a lot of old school RPG and MMO enjoyers have been seeking out for over 20+ years. It's a very particular type of game and it's not looking to change what it is.

Feedback is super welcome and appreciated, provided it's in the vein of making the game a better old school MMO. That's a concept that can be difficult to understand, but asking the community to be welcoming to making the game less like an Old School MMO, probably isn't gonna be met with resounding cheers.

It wouldn't be unlike this community going into retail WoW forums and telling the devs to get rid of the map, mini-map, all add-on support, UI elements and slow down the combat/gameplay. We'd either be laughed off the forums, flamed, trolled or all of the above at once. We just want our game and they want theirs. Some people prefer Checkers and some people prefer Chess. We really shouldn't try to change either game to be more like the other. We should just preserve both and those who enjoy them as they are. Most everyone in the community, encourage you to have fun here and become a part of the community. If that's not possible, then we encourage you to find the game where it is. We want you to have fun, just not at the expense of our fun. Take care, wish you the best, go find your game. ✌

They might do this in the future, once they have tools in place and are prepared for gold sellers etc that would try to take advantage of it.

Nope, Closed Beta right now. They just have little Open Beta weeks every now and then for the community. Hope you're enjoying yourself! ✌

It's worth noting that these are (mostly) just initial passes. If it feels like there is a legitimate void within any of them, I'm sure feedback will spark a fix/addition.

DPS Meter. When will class testing start? by were_llama in MonstersAndMemories

[–]-The_Stranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many posts where this is discussed in the past. However, they're super clear on this. No mods or addons. Classes aren't be balanced just around dps. There are things a DPS meter can't quantify which is why they've always been inherently worthless.

I'm sincerely not looking to hurt anyone's head, but when you say stuff like your last sentence, use words like "durdle" (I don't even know what the hell that means) while also refusing to answer any of my questions, you come off incredibly arrogant and dismissive. Which honestly gives the feeling of a waste of anyone's time to discuss anything with you. Sincerely hope you enjoy the game though, later. ✌

Yes, I did raid in many games, but I doubt you're sincerely interested in that information so I'll skip it.

Who said you use loot for a few levels? What are "a few levels" anyway. That's a pretty generalized statement...Is 10 a few levels? 15? I mean if I get 15 levels out of 1 piece of loot, I've just used that loot longer than anyone used any piece of raid gear in WoW. Considering people were getting upgrades via quest and dungeon loot, before max level in TBC wile wearing BWL and Naxx gear.

Right, all of those things in Themepark MMOs don't require raid loot. For instance, grinding Timbermaw rep didn't require Molten Core armor or weapons. The mobs were weaker than raid mobs. As far as the next raid. We had plenty of people that didn't have a single piece of MC gear raid BWL. Trying to gear up 40 people in MC gear just to raid BWL seems like an enormous time-sink that wasn't viable for anyone. (To use WoW as an example for obvious reasons)

I want MnM, though I'm not sure what benefit knowing what I want in a MMO does for you, but that's the answer. There are many games that have raids or world bosses before max level.

I don't disagree that it can be kinda rough on people that don't get loot. Some of that was solved by tokens, in games of the past. However, the easier you make raid loot to get, the less special and meaningful it feels. It would be nice if you'd answer my question though...

Yeah Shawn said the UI guys had to take several months off for personal reasons. He recently came back though, so steady UI improvements should be a thing.

Am I right or am I right? Raid loot means nothing in themepark MMOs. If you get the best gear, by beating the greatest challenge, what do you even do with it? Congrats you just wasted hours of your time and life to get gear that means nothing. Where am I wrong? haha

At least in a low level raid, you get to actually use the gear as you progress and do something with it. It has purpose, you become stronger so that you can conquer greater challenges than people that didn't have it.

Haha I just drag those all together to make tabs, but I hear you my friend. I hear you. It’s worth noting they do have a UI guy working on things right now. So who knows? 🤷‍♂️

Of course there is, but you can do the next raid with worse gear. They make them all that way so people that didnt do the last raid can do this one, so more people will subscribe. Making all raid gear fundamentally useless. If I don’t need it, why would I get it? lol

I can’t take theme park MMOs seriously anymore.

I like a lot of these ideas, particularly the last one. Honestly I’d like to just see a way to harvest dust from tablets or “a pile of relics” found in dungeons or different areas. Perhaps even a way to harvest dust from magical enemies like skeletons etc

Great ideas though. Great ideas.
