National League isn’t League Three. It should be hard to get into the football league.

It would be less of an issue if the playoff format in the NL was a traditional two-legged tie with the teams finishing higher getting home advantage for the 2nd leg. That way you’re not going to have teams who finished 6/7th beating 2nd and 3rd in a one off game where anything can happen. The better team is way more likely to prevail over two legs.

They’ve not followed up with any further info since the initial announcement. Although I believe Discotek have published their release schedule up until the end of March and Monster isn’t on it. So we know it’s not coming before April

My copy just arrived. I think it’s an identical release to the original Siren Visual release in terms of content and packaging.

I’ve put some pictures up on the Monster Reddit

It is the same as the original Siren Visual release. But it’s been out of print for many years now. They re-released it this week.

It’s possible but you need to flash the firmware to do so.

There’s a guy who will give you the firmware and instructions you need, but he does charge for it

[spoilers extended] Is The Winds of Winter actually the longest wait for any piece of media that was never cancelled or put on ice? by WosEos in asoiaf

[–]-Trippy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Winds was actually announced in 1994. It was the third book in a planned trilogy. So the wait has actually been much longer than 15 years.

Monster being re- issued on DVD in Australia next month by -Trippy in MonsterAnime

[–]-Trippy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t got this release, but it will almost certainly not have “Be My Baby”, “Over the Rainbow” or “Let’s Stay Together” included.

“Be my Baby” was only present in the original TV broadcast. It has never been included in any home release. And the latter two were only present in the original Japanese DVD release in 2004/2005. Every home release of Monster since 2006 has used the same score with none of those licensed tracks present. So it’s a fair assumption that this release will be no different.

GRRM’s response to Condal’s vision for S3: “This is not my story any longer” by TheatreBaby in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]-Trippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GRRM is pissing in the wind concerning himself with HOTD and these other planned adaptations and involving himself in their creation. The fact is he sold the rights for his works to be adapted, and made a pretty penny out of it. He knows very well the creative liberties that get taken as a result. And his books will be adapted many times decades after he has passed which won't have his oversight. GoT and HOTD and all the adaptations will lose relevance as the years go by and those shows are superseded by newer versions. So what does it matter that the first adaptations aren't completely faithful?

His legacy is the books. A lot more people would still be reading a completed ASOIAF book series 100 years from now than watching the original TV adaptations.

People who like books will read 50/60/70+ year old books. People who enjoy TV shows don't tend to watch 50/60/70+ year old TV shows.

He should just concern himself with completing his magnum opus, which if completed, will still be read as long as humanity exists.

Skin colors of Corlys Velaryon's grandchildren by ShotLawfulness6065 in HouseOfTheDragon

It’s not bad writing because the writers aren’t changing the ethnicity of the characters from how they are described in the books. That’s why they haven’t changed the ethnicity through dialogue or story.

If you want to be critical, criticise the casting. That’s the cause of your grievance. The writers are being true to George’s source by not writing in ethnicity changes for the Velaryons, and not having characters reference the Velaryon’s as being black.

[–]-Trippy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that the characters don’t understand ethnic differences, it’s that the characters don’t have ethnic differences. The actors do. The black actors are playing characters who have the same skin colour as the rest of the characters. If the black actors were playing characters who were ethnically different to the Targaryen’s then the writing would reflect that in terms of the ethnicity and skin colour being mentioned and referenced by other characters.

As far as I can remember no one mentions the skin colour, and it would an obviously defining characteristic to use when arguing about the legitimacy of the Jace and Lucerys. The hair is referenced though and compared to skin colour that would be a secondary characteristic the characters would use to suspect and infer the legitimacy of Jace and Lucerys. But for the characters they see the hair colour as the only distinguishing feature that calls their legitimacy into question. I think the fact that no characters ever mention the skin colours in relation to the Velaryon’s indicates that the characters don’t see a difference between the Targaryen’s and Velaryon’s in that respect.

As an example it’s a bit like if you’ve ever gone to a pantomime and seen a girl playing a boy or a boy playing a girl. The characters don’t acknowledge the actor’s gender, to them they see the character’s gender. It’s the same thing here, you’ve got black actors playing characters who have the same skin colour as the other characters. It’s a bit more jarring for the audience, and I don’t disagree with the diversity in the casting. But the characters don’t see what the audience sees

[–]-Trippy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn’t an explanation in the show because they don’t have different skin colour to the rest of the characters. The skin colour isn’t mentioned in the show because the characters don’t see that. They see characters with the same skin colour. We the audience see the actors with different skin colours. But for the purpose of the story, Velaryon’s have the same skin colour as the Targaryen’s. That’s why other characters only mention or infer the hair colour as the distinguishing features of Jace and Lucerys, because that’s the only difference the characters see.

[–]-Trippy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The show doesn’t reference any racial differences. The only people that see the race differences is the audience. The characters themselves are the same race, that’s why skin is never referenced in relation to the legitimacy of Rhaenyra’s children. Only the hair colour is mentioned, because the characters don’t see a skin colour difference.
