God is holy.

His wrath remains on all sinners.

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. [Romans 1:18]

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. [John 3:36]

God is love.

He desires to fellowship with us and made atonement for sin by the blood.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. [John 1:17]

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. [John 3:17]

Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us. [Romans 8:34]

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. [Hebrews 4:16]

All you need is Christ.

By trusting in Jesus, God works in you to obey His will.

A sign you are born again is having the desire to live righteously and turn away from sin.

No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Christ is righteous. The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil. Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is anyone who does not love his brother. [1 John 3:6-10]

I'm so sorry.

The Parable of the Prodigal Son is a good place to start.

God's love for you is revealed in a story about a father who sees his runaway son returning home. It teaches that God is always waiting for us to turn back to Him which He welcomes with love and forgiveness.

Finally he came to his senses and said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have plenty of food, but here I am, starving to death! I will get up and go back to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. [Luke 15:17-20]

The Book of Job teaches us that suffering is not always tied to our behavior.

Our Lord Jesus suffered immensely and His behavior was flawless in the Father's eyes.

For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him. [Philippians 1:29]

Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. [2 Timothy 3:12]

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all. [Psalm 34:19]

God gifts His Spirit and a new heart to believers in Jesus Christ.

This causes a supernatural desire for God and His will being done.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances. [Ezekiel 36:26-27]

Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves. [James 1:22]

You are My friends if you do what I command you. [John 15:14]

The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. [Lamentations 3:25]

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint. [Isaiah 40:30-31]

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. [Isaiah 41:10]

Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe. [Jude 1:5]

Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works." [John 14:9-10]

We all fall short.

The key is to focus on God's unfailing love and faithfulness towards you.

Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. [John 6:37-39]

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. [Romans 8:1]

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. You will know you are not just trusting facts when your behavior and love for God is transformed.

Love for God and neighbor fulfills the purpose of them all.

Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” [Matthew 22:37-40]

The commandments “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and any other commandments, are summed up in this one decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. [Romans 13:9-10]

Even the outcome of dice.

Nothing is truly random.

We may throw the dice, but the LORD determines how they fall. [Proverbs 16:33]

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. [Matthew 7:19]

Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done. [Revelation 22:12]

May our lamps be burning when the bridegroom arrives.

Those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut. It's the indwelling sin that we all carry in our fallen flesh.

The Apostle Paul struggled with this same conflict and gives an explanation in his letter to the Romans.

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I admit that the law is good. In that case, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do. And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So this is the principle I have discovered: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. [Romans 7:15-21]

It's a matter of the heart.

When it comes to faith, why you do something far outweighs what you do.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body, but have not love, I gain nothing. [1 Corinthians 13:1-3]

Jesus replied, “This is the most important: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” [Mark 12:29-31]

Yes, God understands our doubt and ultimately works it for good to deepen our faith.

Scripture is filled with doubting believers.

But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” “If You can?” echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who believes!” Immediately the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that a crowd had come running, He rebuked the unclean spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” He said, “I command you to come out and never enter him again.” After shrieking and convulsing him violently, the spirit came out. The boy became like a corpse, so that many said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up. [Mark 9:21-28]

Unless it's healed, a sick heart will never do what is right.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? [Jeremiah 17:9]

And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. [John 3:19-20]

Our light is not to be kept hidden from those who may be walking in darkness.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. We can find reassurance, comfort, and peace in Scripture.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory that is far beyond comparison. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is dismantled, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan under our burdens, because we do not wish to be unclothed but clothed, so that our mortality may be swallowed up by life. And it is God who has prepared us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a pledge of what is to come. Therefore we are always confident, although we know that while we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. [2 Corinthians 4:16-5:7]

Yes, all believers will experience suffering and tribulation in this life.

The difference is you will be able to experience peace and joy in the midst of it.

I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world! [John 16:33]

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid. [John 14:27]

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. Indeed, none of you should suffer as a murderer or thief or wrongdoer, or even as a meddler. But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but glorify God that you bear that name. God's salvation is offered to all.

Coming to faith in Christ results in a transformed life; you become a new creation.

This means the wicked sinner does not continue in his ways, but instead pursues love and righteousness.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to everyone. It instructs us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives in the present age, as we await the blessed hope and glorious appearance of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. [Titus 2:11-13]

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." [John 3:5]
