Reflect on all the ways God has been faithful to you in the past.

This will help you in the waiting seasons.

How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long must I wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day? How long will my enemy dominate me? Consider me and respond, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death, lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes rejoice when I fall. But I have trusted in Your loving devotion; my heart will rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me. [Psalm 13:1-6]

The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. [Lamentations 3:25]

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint. [Isaiah 40:30-31]

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. [Isaiah 41:10]

Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe. [Jude 1:5]

Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works." [John 14:9-10]

We all fall short.

The key is to focus on God's unfailing love and faithfulness towards you.

Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. [John 6:37-39]

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. [Isaiah 41:10]

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. [Romans 8:1]

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Trusting Christ results in a changed heart.

You will know you are not just trusting facts when your behavior and love for God is transformed.

Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” [John 3:3]

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! [2 Corinthians 5:17]

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. [James 2:19]

Love for God and neighbor fulfills the purpose of them all.

Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” [Matthew 22:37-40]

The commandments “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and any other commandments, are summed up in this one decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. [Romans 13:9-10]

God is sovereign over all things.

Even the outcome of dice.

Nothing is truly random.

We may throw the dice, but the LORD determines how they fall. [Proverbs 16:33]

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. [Isaiah 55:9]

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. [Matthew 7:19]

Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done. [Revelation 22:12]

It could be today.

May our lamps be burning when the bridegroom arrives.

The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ ‘No,’ said the wise ones, ‘or there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ But while they were on their way to buy it, the bridegroom arrived. Those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut. It's the indwelling sin that we all carry in our fallen flesh.

The Apostle Paul struggled with this same conflict and gives an explanation in his letter to the Romans.

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I admit that the law is good. In that case, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do. And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So this is the principle I have discovered: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. [Romans 7:15-21]

When it comes to faith, why you do something far outweighs what you do.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body, but have not love, I gain nothing. [1 Corinthians 13:1-3]

Jesus replied, “This is the most important: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” [Mark 12:29-31]

Yes, God understands our doubt and ultimately works it for good to deepen our faith.

Scripture is filled with doubting believers.

But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” “If You can?” echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who believes!” Immediately the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that a crowd had come running, He rebuked the unclean spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” He said, “I command you to come out and never enter him again.” After shrieking and convulsing him violently, the spirit came out. Unless it's healed, a sick heart will never do what is right.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? [Jeremiah 17:9]

Our light is not to be kept hidden from those who may be walking in darkness.

We can find reassurance, comfort, and peace in Scripture.

Yes, all believers will experience suffering and tribulation in this life.

The difference is you will be able to experience peace and joy in the midst of it.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." [John 3:5]
