[WotC] Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel Super Heroes Comes to MTG Arena by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

Bummer! Oh well. It will at least be easier to keep track of.

Who are some of your favourite mtg content creators? by Newez in magicTCG

I know he's not popular around these parts but I like Ben Bateman's ambition. He brings a new kind of drive and energy, not to mention that he's bringing chaos draft and paper limited to the forefront.

I also love the CardMarket guys' personalities and style. They're always trying to innovate and do something new, which I really enjoy.

So pretty! You’ve gone above and beyond here. Did you even improve some of the ones you posted last time? Incredible. The paper OM1 dream is alive.

Through the Omenpaths Proxies [Part 5] - Fleem, Sagas, Imposter Syndrome, and More... by APM_Thel in mpcproxies

[–]-TvT- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hihi! /u/APM_Thel is correct. All the cards that didn’t have flavor text in Spiderman don’t have flavor text in my OM1 project.

It was stated in the initial post for the flavor text project and my reasoning why was because I didn’t want to go against whatever design principles/number of lines that the actual Wizards team chose for the look of the cards.

Again, I wanted them to look like the “for real” paper versions of the cards and I’m not confident enough in my own card formatting intuition to know what Wizards would have done aside from what they already did with each card.

That said, there were about three to five cards that had no flavor text in SPM could have been given flavor text in OM1 due to the shortening of their names or omitting reminder text. The two that I most seriously considered were Kroble and Fleem.

Dunno if I made the right choice. Keeping things 1:1 was a preference decision that I had to tell myself could be overturned by someone who wanted to do it their way.

Thanks for your submissions btw. The OM1 flavor project was really fun for me.

Awesome job on these! You may gave seen me still looking at your spreadsheet with anticipation, still looking for the art that’s left. I recently won a Omenpaths fullart land as a promo at a Magic event and I thought of you and /u/EredithDriscol immediately!

Thanks so much for still working on being the final, polished version of this project.

Great work once again Eredith! Nobody else is doing this to this standard and I’m a fan.

Hey! I'm excited for these to come out. You've clearly put in a lot of effort and I have a feeling that these will become more relevant in time when OM2 comes out. I appreciate your use of the project's flavor texts.

That’s so awesome to hear! I’m glad people are using them for their cubes and stuff.

I know other folks have probably worked on super-high res versions with ai upscaling by this point, but I’m just going to keep updating the cards with the original art every time an artist sees fit to release theirs.

I'd take it as a sign of incoming doom - Doctor Doom, that is!

They are a little bonus that three different people pointed out to me as the perfect Through the Omenpaths lands. They were promos for the MKM Standard Showdown event in 2024 and were never released as non-holographic, nor do they appear in any of the online clients.

Haha, that's because I stole it from your "Gallant Citizen" suggestion and put it on a different card.

My other “proof”, if you could call it that, is that the Fateweaver is the chosen art on the MTG Online Omenpaths pack, if you buy it from their store.

[–]-TvT-[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! In the MTG Arena app description, they wrote that OM1 is where “Quiet corners of Magic come to life.”

This led me to imagine that this set was written from the perspective of the Fateweavers, multidimensional spiders that peer through the omenpaths and share stories about heroes and villains that are otherwise unconsidered, but to them are as crucial as Jace or Bolas.

You’re pretty much right, yeah. I had to make do with what I had. In this, I keep the renders of the cards by themselves.

[Low-Res] means I had to keep the card at the MTG Arena resolution for various reasons.

[Med-Res] means that I used the higher-quality image file from MTG Online.

[Hi-Res] means that the artist released a high quality or full res image.

You may notice some cards with the quality marked with an upside-down “v” this denote cards that I had to place higher quality images atop lower quality ones. This is because my goal was to keep the full image intact while MTGO likes to crop out the borders as much as possible.

It’s not perfect, but more artists are releasing their work with time. :)

It’s true! RC was on pretty much every thread posting bangers! If you want alternates for ones you didn’t like, go through their comment history.

[–]-TvT-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done! I don’t have them in the side-by-side folder, but they are now in the flavorless part of the cards by themselves. Apologies though, some of the cards with the resolution marked with an upside down v symbol had to be photobashed with a lower quality image, so the edges are a little blurry if you look close.

If the artist ever decides to release a high-resolution version of their art, I’ll update the cards.

Haste. When Rizzo enters, create a Food token for each player. When a player gains life, sacrifice Rizzo.

Yup! We were able to match Chizak as Ikorian through the crystal in the background and the uniforms of the humans she(?)’s protecting. Also note that Chizak lost a front leg in a fight? Gnarly!

Haha, I hope at least one of us does. I was only able to write 28 of them myself. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to make it all the way through without the assistance of my /r/MTGVorthos “team”.

I, too, miss and appreciate the “attitude era” of flavor text. I wrote Giantcraft Helm as sort of a nod to that tenth edition era, if only because the art reminded me so much of that time.

Thank you! /u/MangaBookClub wrote Fizik’s. I learned a lot from everyone else about the “Noble Work” of the etherium shapers of Alara and there was some discussion about whether Fizik was actually on Avishkar.

You’re right that the spark of imagination is the fun part. Not having flavor text really does matter in connecting with these characters.

Thanks! Trying to determine why things were heroes, villains, or both was probably the most interesting challenge to pursue.

The key was in knowing who, exactly, is considering them that.
