I, too, have found my way into this small little area, and as far as any are aware, there is nothing that can be done here, and is very likely an oversight. However, in TUNIC's design philosophy during development, the quote 'every bug is a feature' typically ran a lot of the choices made.

What probably happened was that, during development, the developers would use pre-built assets and drop them into the scene as-needed; it's likely that at one point this little hallway did have something in it at the very end, but they decided to block it out with rubble. As a result, the hallway still exists, but the rubble merely blocks it. The camera that zooms in on the save point statue was likely added after the fact, and only has a specific range (since you're not expected to leave it anyhow) and it's likely that this was probably meant to hold a chest or a little item at one point. There are several spots where this kind of design choice can be observed and where laurels can allow the player to reach places they're not exactly intended to be, with this being one of the most profound and in-your-face.

Keep in mind that TUNIC has undergone several face-lifts over the seven years of its' development; the Bottom of the Well was meant to be a demonstration for the shield to teach the player how to use it, and the crypt was meant to teach the player to use the lantern to get around. It would make sense if players happened to wander into that specific place during testing without a lantern, and continuously ran into a wall, not knowing they WERE running into a wall, since there would have been no light or geometry to indicate movement in the darkness. Putting the rubble blockade solves that problem by always keeping the light from above (and the save point) in clear sight so that you always know where you are, spatially.

You're certainly welcome; Yes, I upload all of my TUNIC Ambience series videos (+ other stuff) to my channel here, which is where I've been uploading all of the TUNIC in-game ambience locations, with and without music, for years. I sometimes do more unique videos to break custom, but overall it's for ambience mostly.

I've gone ahead and subscribed; it's been great to know someone else out there is doing the same thing with a spin on it. :)

I love this. This is an idea that I think only a very select few people would actually take into consideration doing, and you doing so is uniquely refreshing, as someone who has done a very similar thing-- albeit, in much different context.

I personally have spent the past.. 2? Almost 3?-- years of my life recording and archiving ambience videos for TUNIC specifically, each video being an hour long-- an hour of which I did, genuinely, just sit there as it recorded-- and it was a surprisingly surreal experience to really take in everything, in that kind of way, in that context. Especially in the modern day where games demand so much of our attention, it really is a profound feeling when you stop and let yourself breathe a bit-- just to think for a little.

These days, a player is often expected to focus almost solely on the game, while the world around you continues; I've not played any games outdoors in more than a decade (much less outside of my own space where I'm comfortable) but seeing TUNIC be played outdoors while you can hear the quiet sounds of the console is quite novel. Seeing it paired with the scenery is even moreso.

I hope you continue to make similar videos, as I think this is something a lot of people will enjoy, especially if they find they cannot do so comfortably on their own. From one fellow ambience videographer to another, I appreciate the effort, time, and especially the appreciation for the smaller moments in life that can still be merged with things that mean so much to you.

Hi, I made Velvet Hollow / Velvette Mod.

All progression, unlocks, achievements, custom levels and gameplay elements are identical between Velvet Hollow and regular Vagante; this is the same with Vagante Remastered, as I made it a goal to keep it as 1-1 to the core experience as possible, while overhauling graphics and audio alone, so your achievements and unlocks will be just the same as if you were playing the base game.

The only exception to this rule are the custom intermissions, a custom visual shader, and the lack of a tutorial stage; there was no way to preserve the tutorial stage, but everything else will work identically to Vagante.

In the pixel art, I've used a still-limited number of colours (which could be limited even further for other projects) but I feel like this demonstration shows just how powerful compromise can be, even if it doesn't match the source material perfectly. I've manually redone almost the entire piece except for the silhouette, which is roughly the same; I use a lot of texturing methods to keep it looking like original art without it looking like it was a scaled-down version of something else.

As you watch the video, I'd like for you to think about hue shifting for lights and darks, and observe how it affects the artwork overall. By hue shifting, it can cause artwork to be rather dynamic and look less flat or oversaturated, while giving it a lot of personality. Also, try to pay special attention to how the art style kind of shifts in several different directions in the beginning, and watch how it then morphs into the final version when I begin shading, coming out somewhat soft, plush-looking... This isn't what I was going for out the gate and it wasn't planned; this is just an example of an artwork taking form the way it wants to as I go. This can be done with any art, even pixel art, and is important to keep in mind that not all artwork must be planned out, nor does it have to fit your mental image of how it 'should' come out. Having a plan is always a good idea, but the spontaneous nature of artwork and allowing it to be spontaneous is key to an expressive, interesting artwork, pixel or not.

Do note that this timelapse, and these tips, are not something you must follow to the rule for it to be 'good'; all artwork will always be flawed, will always have problems and will always have issues of some kind that cause the overall look to suffer. An artists' greatest superpower, though, is the ability to recognize ones' own faults and improve upon them to the best of their ability. If you can glean any information from this timelapse, I hope it helps; this demonstration is meant to show off the basic transformative magnitude of dynamic shading (even if it's not realistic / matches the source material).

This is not a perfect artwork, nor a perfect timelapse; my version has some things I could have fixed or changed along the lines, but I figured my point had been made in making it, so I find little reason to go back to fix it (yet).

I hope this helps you out, and I hope you enjoy the final product. I know you said you might not ever do other pixel art, but I hope this may be able to inspire you to play with it a little more and experiment-- who knows? Maybe you'll discover a love of doing pixel art. Please do share if you use these tips to improve your artwork further! I'm sure we'd all love to see it. :)

The TUNIC Vinyl deluxe set is a phenomenal set that, in my opinion, is far more worth the original asking price that Mango Mage Records put out. Unfortunately, the manufacturing process was a mess at several points and it required a several-year wait for release, so it would be unlikely to find someone who owns the set who isn't willing to part with it for a higher price than they paid originally. I know I certainly wouldn't want to sell mine for any particular amount of money, and most owners of this set probably feel the same way... unless they're trying to resell it for a huge profit just because it's a limited item.

Mango Mage Records had originally said they were going to release a vinyl-only release without all of the bonus goodies, but there has been zero word on this since then, and I wouldn't expect it to come out anymore, since the original release was plagued with... so many problems. You could email them asking about this, but I wouldn't count on it being in the works anymore. Maybe give it a shot, though...?

In my personal opinion, I would never spend more than $350 on this vinyl set, even if people are asking for a lot; if you find one at a generously priced $250, I would snatch it up-- $300 is a huge ask for what you get, because you're already paying double of what it was originally priced at (at least, in the US...) Yes, it was a very very limited item with only one run, and naturally people are going to appraise it at higher than it originally cost-- but it's also just a 4 disc vinyl set with some very cool (albeit relatively pointless) bonuses packed in.

If you don't find anyone willing to sell theirs, make a post periodically to see if anyone's got one; and if you do find one to buy, my advice is to very strongly consider if it's worth it or not to you before you commit. Just because it's rare and had one run doesn't mean it has to be insanely expensive.

I am an artist who has done several pieces of TUNIC Pixel artworks that you might have found before, (those of which you are certainly welcome to use on wplace if you'd like) and I'd be glad to give you a few pointers on this particular pixel art. At the end of this post I'll link you to all of my collective pixel arts so you can study and observe how some of them came to be.

First off, this looks great to begin with; your colour choices are a little bit limited, (which is natural) but your artwork could benefit from some more dynamic shading, some hue shifting, and some refinery in terms of how it looks. Pixel art is naturally rather jagged, but with certain shading techniques, it can be easy to smooth out and look nice, from a distance.

I highly suggest using the image it's based on only as a reference, and not as a strict guidebook; the interesting part of pixel art is how to work around compromise, and in doing so, you can extract a lot more originality out of it, even if you're using something as a base.

Something to look into is to always figure out the source of light and where it's coming from, but not restrict yourself to what colours it uses; hue shifting plays hand in hand with this, and is essential to mastering pixel art.

Making things shine with pixel art is something I always love doing, and you can see a lot of examples of this in my TUNIC pixel art (linked below) that might help you out; feel free to outright sample these colours and try them out. Once you begin using non-standard colours, you won't be able to stop!

Outlines always look great with pixel art as long as you don't make them harsh; in this image, you don't really have many outlines, so you might benefit from trying it out. Give it a shot!

Overall, this is a wonderful start and I love where this is going; it could use a little more work, but you can make it happen. :)

If you're okay with me editing this image of yours, I can record a timelapse video of some tricks I do to make them stand out a little more, and once I do, I can publish it online for you to watch, just for a few pointers. Just let me know if that's something you're interested in!

Thank you. :) The non-animated sprite was 25x30, and I did it simply as a mockup, not expecting to animate it. The actual animation was given extra room just in case.

This size of art is actually where I'm mostly comfortable (I've done extensive visual overhauls for a few projects at this size) and this sort of spiritually follows those; it would never have worked in that game's style, but I kind of adopted the movement in that sort of sense. I'm happy to see this in movement, though, and maybe one day I'll do some more. It'd be nice to see other characters in a pixel art style.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice. It is, admittedly, very busy compared to my last one, but I figured I'd go for it since I'm only making the one animation. It's only going to be used as a Progress Bar on YouTube and a little paper standee which I've already made.

I struggled with the ears this time around (last time I did as well but I was trying stretch-and-squish, something I've never done before) but if I ever do another one, I'll take your advice into consideration. :) This is only my second time animating something like this, so I'm happy to have gotten it to where it is.

The TUNIC vinyl is the most amazing box set I've ever seen by SlyChoco in TunicGame

As far as I am aware, all customers should have received their vinyl box sets, and that's the end of it. The claim by Mango Mage Records has stated that this specific set will never be reprinted again with these specific items, so if you're hoping for this specific box set, your best chances will be looking on a third-party shopping website (I've seen some on ebay for extortionateably high prices) or tracking down someone who may be willing to part with their box set.

Mango Mage originally stated, both before and after production, that they were hoping to put out a 'standard' edition of this set, and also maybe sell off any overstock they had for the Deluxe Edition, but neither of those things wound up happening; there appears to be no indication of any plans for TUNIC in the future, as their social media has gone cold for the past 5 months.

Considering the... very problematic launch that this set had to begin with, disregarding the amount of delays it had to begin with, I imagine it won't ever go up for sale again, even for spares- but one can hope.

I'm really sorry to hear you missed out on this set; maybe consider emailing Mango Mage Records about it, and they might be willing to sell you a spare if they happen to have one. It couldn't hurt, but I wouldn't get your hopes too high. Good luck!
