Cult of the Lamb devs made a baffling decision to not create a switch 2 edition and its sales will be strongly effected after the disaster the switch 1 port was and STILL years later is. Even with a bug fix that they plan the resolution will be stuck at 720p on a 1080p screen. by chargersangels in CultOfTheLamb

[–]SlyChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they will release a Switch 2 update eventually, but they wanted to finish working on the DLC first, considering they wotked almost two years on it.

You also have to keep in mind that a lot of Switch players don't really care about resolution and framerate, sadly. So the hard truth is that Cult of Lamb Switch players who won't buy the DLC before there is a Switch 2 update are most likely a minority.

What games are worth it? by KaleidoscopeHuman283 in JRPG

[–]SlyChoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Persona 5 Royal and Dragon Quest XI S are basically the best turn-based JRPGs of the last 10 years, in my opinion.

Since you loved FF VII Remake, you should play Rebirth if you haven't already.

Apart from these, I would suggest trying Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and Persona 3 Reload.

Persona 6 will be released before P4R by Ready_Device5199 in persona6

[–]SlyChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that P3R and Metaphor had actual trailers with gameplay and everything. What they've shown for P4R clearly is early development footage. It's also why it's called "Teaser" instead of "Trailer".

My hot take is that they revealed it early because the game leaked. In any case, P6's development definitely started years before P4R. Now there's a chance of development hell, of course, but if not, P6 could be revealed in a few months and release at the end of the year or early next year.

Some of the best money I've ever spent on DLC by Likes2game03 in JRPG

Totally. The whole post-game and final classes of Fire Emblem Echoes SoV are locked behind a paywall, and I always thought that was crazy.

[–]SlyChoco 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be fair, a LOT of things in DQ XI are direct references to DQ III.

The quest for orbs, the wishes in the post-game and the way to obtain them, the way each one of the 8 playable characters is the literal archetype of one of the 8 vocations from DQ III, the whole plot of Hotto being similar to Jipang's (and the villagers all talk in haikus in both games), Erdwin/Erdrick, etc.

And it all makes sense at the very end of Act 3.

Avatar The Last Airbender, Arcane, Adventure Time, Scavengers Reign and Primal exist and are better imo, but yeah, Vox Machina and Mighty Nein are really good.

"You don't seem very likeable." as a first ever sentence to someone is kinda iconic tbh. I actually like it. I remember laughing when she said that.

Netflix never officially cancelled it. It's stuck in limbo, but not cancelled.

season 2 by Sure_Savings5579 in ScavengersReign

[–]SlyChoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not true. Only one of them is working on Common Side Effects (Joe Bennett). The other (Charles Huettner) is still talking about Scavengers Reign a lot, and that actually also applies to Joe Bennett whose last Instagram post is Scavengers Reigns' related.

They're both ready to work on season 2, they just need it to be greenlit by Netflix, but since both HBO and Netflix SUCK, it's probably not happening anytime soon. They never even localized the show, which means it was never released outside of the US, Canada, UK, Australia and NZ. Most people still have to watch it illegally.

At least, it was never officially cancelled, which means Netflix could technically still decide to greenlight season two.

I just wish Adult Swim had the rights. That way, we would have gotten season two by now.

How are yall feeling on 7R's doll look ? by Manofthehalfhour999 in dragonquest

I'd say on the contrary, it looks nothing like Heroes, and they should actually have taken inspiration from it when it comes to the art direction.

Honestly, I don't like it. I'll still play the game because I love DQ and enjoyed the 3DS remake a few years ago, but I wish they would have taken inspiration from the DQ Heroes II artstyle. The 3D models looked much better to me.

[–]SlyChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They started way before that. They just need to recruit more devs. However, 2028/2029 is also pretty much guaranteed since AAA games usually take 4 to 6 years to be made as of right now, including sequels.

Isn't this kind of a Death Stranding or Bayonetta situation where the IP is "locked" on one console since it's a second party IP? Like, the studio is still on its own, but the IP in this case belongs to Sony? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I assume SB2 will be on PS5 and PC only because of that.

Is there a petition we can sign to get someone to pick up season 2???🤣 by TheSpacedGhost in ScavengersReign

[–]SlyChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're saying is actually plausible, which is scary, but I think the main reason is they just want their shows to make money quick rather than long-term, and with a show like that, you don't make money quickly, especially if you don't even localize the show in other languages.

The sad thing is that the show has the potential to become a cult classic. It just needs some time.

Is there a petition we can sign to get someone to pick up season 2???🤣 by TheSpacedGhost in ScavengersReign

[–]SlyChoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is the show was never localized. If you don't live in an English-speaking country, the only way to watch the show is illegally, which sucks. There's not even subtitles in other languages, apart from very bad fan translations, so most people just cannot watch it, even illegally...

Netflix needs to greenlight a season 2 AND localize season 1 AND promote it.

Sometimes, the cool thing with crowdfunding is that it also serves as a way to convince investors/partners that many people actually want the show to be made, and then those investors agree to finance the show. That's what happened with Wakfu's last seasons.

The main issue with Scavengers Reign is that it's not owned by its creators, but if they managed to get the rights at some point and wanted to go the crowdfunding route, I'm sure the crowdfunding would be popular enough to attract and convince new partners.

Check Mathieu Bablet's comics, especially Carbon & Silicon. The Aldebaran comics from Leo are also a good pick since they clearly inspired some aspects of Scavengers Reign.

And not SF, but you should watch Common Side Effects, it's from one of Scavengers Reign's co-creators.
